Signs

Seunwo sighs as he felt a headache crept up. A week has passed, he actually felt worser than ever. His phone rings just as he had stood up from the bed.

Sighing again seeing the caller id, he answered the call unenthusiasticly.

"Little bro, mom is asking again."

"About what?" He asked walking to his bathroom to freshen up. The caller tutted.

"When are you going to introduce your girlfriend to us?"

"...."

"Yes we know about it. Is she a fling or-"

"She's not a fling." Seunwo corrected her right away not liking the thought.

"Then?"

"I'm busy with work, sis. Look when the time comes, I will introduce her. I got to go get ready for my shift. Bye." He said and ended the call, tossing the phone back on the bed.

"How long will you be here?"

"Just for another two or three days then back to Indonesia. I just have another two weeks here anyways." Leira said to the phone as she give the ticket to the receptionist.

"Sorry I can't pick you up at the airport."

"Its alright. Kai said you have a surgery to operate."

Seunwo hummed. He recalled back to when Kai suddenly took a leave today and he thinks he knows why now.

"Oh, I'm boarding. Love you." Leira hang up the call.

He pushed back his hair as he put his phone down. The door knocked, calling for him.

"Dr Han? You are needed in the ward."

"Yes."

Upon arriving at the airport, Kai leaned on his car as he saw the girl who was clad in baggy high waisted jeans and a pair of balenciaga triple x sneakers, walks flawlessly while on her phone. Her hair was tied into a high ponytail, people around turn their head to her when she walked passed by them.

"Whoa."

"Is she an idol?"

Leira looked around as she stepped out of the entrance. She squint her eyes to find Kai's car and he chuckled when she still can't spot him.

"Yo Lara Croft!"

Leira turned her head to his voice and broke into a smile while walking to him. Kai could feel his chest tightened and smiled back to her. He mentally slapped himself.

"Hi rich doctor."

"Where's your luggage?" Kai asked looking at her small canvas vintage purse weirdly. She shrugged.

"I have clothes here so why bother."

Kai nodded in agreement. She has a point.

"Is Seunwo still in surgery?" Leira started as they got into a fast food restaurant. She looked at the menu carefully and contemplate on which chicken menu should she take.

"I have no idea~" Kai cooed as ordered his fried chicken set and sweet spicy chicken set for her to which she made a proud face at him.

"Seunwo works hard, I don't know how he maintained healthy to be honest. I'm sick 24/7. If not hurt." She chuckled and sat down at the window seat.

"You're sick?" Kai put his palm on her forehead, feeling the temperature.

"You're hot." He said.

"I am hot."

"Yeah, there's no denying that."

"So how long are you going to put your hand on my forehead?" Leira made a flat face. She immediately took one spicy rice cake into her mouth when the food was served.

She hummed in delight and offered him some too. Other people in the restaurant might think that there's something odd going on between them as the girl was busy eating and the guy has his palm on her forehead while putting food in his mouth.

"Its wide, so I am intrigue." Kai shrugged and put his hand back to him.

"What the heck."

"How's your paper going on?"

"Almost done. You have no idea how many times I almost die." Leira snickered. Kai rolled his eyes at that.

"Clumsy Lei and her cliff entourage."

"How do you know me that well while I don't even remember when I met you." Leira chortled.

"Meh, it was called for. I wasn't really accepting and kinda mean. Still am though."

"You're not so bad. Its the inside that matters." She grinned and reached out to pat his heart briefly. He paused as he felt his chest tightened again.

"Besides, aren't we all mean to our friends."

"Nope, just you. I give hugs and kisses to my friends." Kai snorted and shake the feeling away.

"Question time." Leira said suddenly making Kai sit up straight.

She laughed at that.

"Why..why do you still pursue meds even though you don't like them?"

"This turned serious real quick."

"You don't have to answer-" Leira was cut off when Kai replied to her.

"I wanted to make my dad proud of me." He said smiling proudly. Leira hummed and nodded.

"What a good son."

"Your mom still bothering you?" Kai asked meaningfully. The girl let out a long exasperated sigh.

"She's threatening my dad now. I don't understand why would she do this."

"Maybe she just wanted to spend time with you, Lei."

"No. If she wanted that, shouldn't have left me in my dad's front door."

"Lei-"

"I don't want to think about it." She cut him off and smiled assuringly. The latter just nodded understandingly.

They chatted around and without them notice, there stood a girl taking pictures of them while smirking. She waited for Kai to do simple gestures that could be misunderstood by and snap the picture.

"Kim Leira, I didn't know you would go over the line and have an affair with your own boyfriend's best buddy. I always knew you were a slut."

Seunwo had just finished a 10 hour surgery and he felt like his back is killing him. He rubbed his neck and walked to his department office to work on some paper works. He stopped when he heard his name.

"Han Seunwo!"

"I just noticed, don't you feel the jet lag? You're a little hyper than ever." Kai said mockingly as Leira made a face at him and walked to the awaiting boyfriend.

A soft smile plastered on Seunwo's face making the nearby nurses nearly faint. He put his hands in his pockets suavely.

"Hey, how was your flight?" He asked.

"It's alright. I didn't sleep though, its weird. Are you busy?" Leira said looking at him with his lab coat and nodded approvingly before continuing.

"You are one good looking doctor, doc. I think I might have an heart attack."

"You're right, Kai. She's hyper." Seunwo chuckled, pulling her by the hand and walked to a more private room for them to talk so that they wont distract the people that much.

Leira just let him guide her along the hospital hallway before turning back to see Kai was spacing out.

"Kai?"

"Oh you go on. I have something to do. Just text me when you're done." Kai said. She gave him an ok sign.

Kai felt Seunwo's eyes were on him so they stared at each other for a brief moment until the latter turned back in front and went into the room with his girlfriend that didn't even notice the stare.

"Have you told Taejin you're here yet?" Seunwo asked.

"Nope."

"Good."

Leira chuckled at that.

"Can I even be here in the first place?" Leira started as she looked around the room.

The room was relatively small but got all the necessities in it that consist of a bunk bed, a microwave, a mini fridge and a boiler.

"Yeah, this is like my hideout whenever I wanted to have some time alone. Coffee?" He goes on to the counter pouring himself a cup of coffee. Leira push herself up the counter.

"Its fine, I just ate with Kai just now. Have you eaten?"

"N-yeah I did." Seunwo lied. She narrowed her eyes at him warily as if she's trying to read him. He shook his head, letting his hair hide his eyes.

"You're such a kid sometimes. Let me go grab you something to eat." Leira was about to hop down when he trapped her between his arm.

"What? You don't want to eat?" She blinked rapidly, a little nervous by the closeness. His rare grin came out as he knows he still has an effect on her.

Rarely showing this side or him to her, Leira felt her heart squeezed at the gesture.

Leira smiled at the sight of him grinning.

"I'll be fast, so you better eat okay.." She said wiggling free from him and stepped out of the room with light steps. She exhaled and went to the cafeteria.

Seunwo watch his girlfriend walked and leaned back to the counter, drinking his coffee.

"Ah, I must be that tired."

It took about 5 minutes to buy food for him and walking back to the room. She halted when a distressed looking girl that she hoped that she won't ever have to see again glared at her.

"Hi?" Leira found herself chuckling. The girl never did like her even from the start.

"I can't believe you had the guts to show yourself here. Pathetic." Elaine spat and brush passed her aggressively.

Leira raised her eyebrows confused and stepped inside the room. Seunwo looked up to her.

"Did I do something to Elaine?" She asked.

"She just misunderstood your friendliness with Kai. "

"Do you? Because that's all that I care about, she could go to hell." Leira rare side jumped out.

Seunwo took the food from her hand and put it down before leaning to the counter. He gestured for her to come near him.

"You got a little tanned." He said dodging the topic as he put his hands around her waist. Leira made a face at him.

He just smiled.

"You're doing that again." Leira frowned and pushed his hair back, exposing his forehead and eyes.

"Doing what?"

"Not telling me what you're thinking."

"Its nothing." Seunwo hummed. She just sighed and put her arm around his neck.

"Fine. now eat."

He nodded but his page beeped.

"Then take this with you." Leira wanted to laugh as she handed the paper bag to him.

"You should go back first,Lei. Its late. You must be tired from the flight."

"I planned to wait for you though."

"Its fine. Just go back and rest before I admit you to the hospital." Seunwo said looking at her pointedly.

"Okay okay, geez. See you tomorrow then. If I have any luck." She snorted and went out.

The male stayed at his spot for awhile with a blank face before leaving the room.
