"Kai you ass."

Kai chuckled as that was the first word she said to him to when she answered his call. He went out to private balcony for the doctors to get a breather. .

"Nice hearing your voice too, Lei."

"Seunwo is on a hospital bed and you didn't tell me about it?"

"Hey, the boyfriend made that decision and I'm just a follower who carries out the task." Kai said nonchalantly. Leira snorted at that.

"Since when do you ever listen to him."

"Occasionally but how did you know he was admitted though?"

"He accidentally answered my call while talking to that intern, I guess."

"He did huh."

"You're coming?" Kai asked when he heard the ruffling in her line. She hummed.

"Yup but not today. My back is killing me so I gotta get my ten hour sleep then I go visit that dude."

"Aw shucks. Kinda want to see you right now." Kai said leaning to the railings.

"Bro, you sounded like a boyfriend more than my own boyfriend." She chuckled and sighed tiredly. "Aight see you two tomorrow."

"Hey."

"Almost Sleeping."

"Welcome back, Lei." He said.

"Thanks."

The call ended and he let out the longest sigh.

"Is he treating you right?" He said quietly.

"Are we going to join Lei at the hospital?" Hwiyun asked as he ate his bread.

Chae gritted her teeth.

"I don't know. You know how she is. She could never be mad at anything and could probably leave him with that bubbly girl." She spat.

They were having breakfast at their local restaurant thats just two blocks away from the hospital.

"As a father figure to her, I want to but I don't really want to see that boyfriend of hers." Dohyon shrugged uncaringly.

"He's your friend, jackass." Leira came slapping his shoulder and sat next to Hwiyun.

"He will be discharged today so its okay if you guys don't want to come. Apparently he over worked and passed out."

"Imagine a 6 feet 2 lad passed out like a log."

Chae and Dohyon held back their snort and Hwiyun just chuckled at that.

"Ah, my beautiful woman. Look at you rocking that casual get up. Plain white T-shirt, some high waited jeans and is that the new balenciaga runners? Girl, you're hands are quick to get that." Chae clapped proudly. Leira shook her head amused.

"Where did you park your car?" Hwiyun asked as he cant see it outside.

"My backpain came back so I didn't drive today. Kai offered to drop me off since he's going to the hospital." She said and started eating what Dohyon had ordered for her earlier.

"I forgot you guys practically lived together. He's actually really come in handy unlike that nonexistent-"

"See, this is why no one wants to be friends with you guys, well except for you Hwi. You are everyone's ball of sunshine." Leira cut Chae off and side hugged the guy beside her who was grinning.

"You love me anyways." Chae rolled her eyes.

"He gotta earn my respect by treating my daughter nicely." Dohyon said jokingly.

"Anyways, you're going straight to the hospital after this then?" Hwiyun asked Leira.

"Yeah. Visiting hours is opened by now. You guys coming?"

"Uhhh-"

"No."

"Hwi?"

"Sorry Leilei, I promised my girlfriend that I drop by her house when I get back. Its been a month." Hwiyun said apologetically. Leira just smiled.

"Its alright. I'm sure she misses you." She nudged him playfully.

"I still don't believe he has a different girlfriend now after the trip to Indonesia like bitch when did you court someone while we were out hiking?"

"Just eat your salad, Chae." Dohyon snorted.

Arriving at the particular floor, Leira smiled politely to the nurses and doctors that walked passed her.

"Isn't that Dr Kim's girlfriend? She's seriously a great match for that godly looking doctor."

"How did you know?"

"Elaine said so when we saw them together having a date."

Leira furrowed her eyebrows when she happened to hear that.

"All these years, she hasn't changed a bit." She said chuckling to herself and was about to corrected the person before she was cut off.

"Ah, Doctor Kim! Your girlfriend is here." One of the nurses said when they saw Kai.

"What?" Kai cocked his eyebrows annoyed but looked up to see Leira looking at him with an unamused face.

He walked pass the nurses ignoring them and went to her.

"Here to see Seunwo?"

"Yeah duh. He hasn't discharged yet right?" Leira continued walking when Kai gently pull her towards the room.

"Nope. He's getting an earful of fatherly nag from the head of hospital. It's entertaining to watch. Come." Kai opened the door without knocking.

Kai froze when he saw the scene unfold in the room they got in. He quickly turned to Leira who was now frowning.

"Sorry for interrupting?" She said questioningly.

As they got in, Elaine was just pulling away her lips from Seunwo when she heard the door opened. The sick doctor pushed her lightly, taken back by all the sudden things that happened.

"Don't apologise, we're leaving." Kai said coldly and took Leira's hand.

Elaine bit back her smile as she stood by the bed.

"Kai, stop." Seunwo voiced out.

"No."

"Kai, it's okay let me talk to him." Leira said softly as she tried to pull her hand but Kai won't budge.

"How is that okay?"

"I'm fine. Just-"

"Sure, Lei. Just accepts everything all you want." Kai spat and left the room.

"I'm sorry, Leira. I just-"

"Aren't you busy intern? I'm sure there are more people that you could help so off you go. " Leira said as she turned to the girl who chose to open her mouth.

Her face void of any emotion and folded her arms to her chest. Elaine would be lying if she said she wasn't intimidated by that.

"This is my-"

"Elaine, just go." Seunwo said this time and the girl clenched her fist to that.

Without saying anything she walked pass Leira and went out not before smirking at her.

"So you good now?" Leira started and sat at the sofa, crossing her legs.

"Yeah. Its just fatigue. I thought you're coming back tomorrow?" Seunwo asked clearing his throat as he stood up from the bed and sat next to her.

"Why? So you could have an affair behind my back?"

"Lei-"

"Question." Leira said as she met his eyes. Her tone wasn't the usual curious tone which made him frowned.

"You can't resist persistence huh? You can't reject people."

"Its not what it looks like. I'm just off guard." Seunwo said lowly.

"No, its not just today. I courted you first in college and you just went with it, although we barely even know each other. You were just attached to me because I'm always there. Now that we got busier, we don't see each other that often anymore, you-"

"I said its not like that, Lei." He cut her off not wanting her to finish the sentence and held her hand.

"You know, now that this happened. I realised that you never did said you liked me." Leira played with his hand. A slight stab felt in her heart as the words came out of her mouth.

Seunwo paused at that.

"And I said it too freely to anyone so I get it." Leira laughed sadly.

She untwined their hand and turned to him with a smile.

"Anyways, I just wanted to check if you're okay. Glad that you're alright." She said softly and brushed his hair gently but stopped when she remembered the call.

"See you when I see you, I guess."

Leira stood up and left the room but he sat silent in his place.

He knows one thing for sure.

It broke his heart when she smiled at him like that.
