Can We Meet?

Leira was walking to the stairs when she heard her brother call for her in her father's study.

"Yeah?"

She saw how her dad was sitting facing the window while her brother just casually sitting on the arm rest of the sofa.

"Come in come in, don't be shy." Wushin said teasingly making Leira rolled her eyes.

"What is it?"

"I heard from Dr Kim." Mr Kim said turning his chair to her.

"Mm." She knew the news probably reached him.

"Why didn't you tell me first?"

"I don't have a heart to tell anybody." She sat down beside her brother. He ruffled her hair earning a kick on his shin.

"Made up your mind?" Mr Kim spoke up cutting off the siblings bicker.

"Yes. This is what you wanted too right?" Leira sighed. She felt her mood starts to drop. Both men in her family looked at each other briefly.

"Kai is-"

"I get it." Leira bit her insides.

"Now now, young lady. You decide this yourself." Wushin said flatly.

"Sadly, yes."

Wushin burst into a laugh breaking the tense atmosphere. Leira never fail to amuse him with her nonchalant character. She stared at him bored.

"What?"

"Alright then. Off you go. I'll discuss with the Kim's." Mr Kim said standing up from his seat.

"About what?"

"Your wedding preparation."

"Aight Imma head out."

"Ra, I'm expecting you to tell me what's up soon." Her brother said when she stood up to leave.

"I love you too, Wushiniee~" Leira sent him a flying kiss to which he flicked it away playfully.

"Are we going home yet?"

"Now you're hurting my feelings, yeobo."

"We've been to more than 10 places, Kai. Your date idea is very energetic to this kinda lethargic woman." Leira said pointedly.

"I'm giving you different vibes in dates since you've never been to a proper one." Kai fought back.

Leira scoffed playfully.

"Yes I have- whoa. Damn you outdone yourself. Don't you have work? I barely got any time to-"

"Bro, can you shut up?" Kai said making Leira laugh. She turned to look around the park with fairy lights in the trees making the place looked like in the fairytales.

"I seriously don't get it myself. Why do I fall for you this hard?"

Leira smiled softly.

"I told you to stop liking me, Kai."

"Eh, if I had an on and off button, sure." Kai reached out to hold her hand.

"I'm heartless." Leira held both of his hands. She looked at him apologetically. "Are you sure of letting me use you?"

"Like I said before. Anything for you, yeobo." Kai chuckled. Leira pursued her lips.

"I'm being serious here. You're going to regret it." Leira nudged him. He made a 'meh' face.

He wrapped his arm around her warmly while sighing like its his last breath.

"This is such a warm rejection, I'm pleased." He said. Leira chuckled.

"I'm basically friend zoning your ass and marrying you for money but you're welcome."

Kai rested his arm around her shoulder and snapped his fingers. Leira was confused by the sudden gesture but soon it was answered.

A group of band came out playing romantic instrumental making Leira smiled.

"Cheesy Kai, ew."

"I know, this was my dad's idea."

"I wonder if your dad would hate me if he knew." Leira patted his shoulder. He shrugged.

"So are you really going to move on from him?"

Leira hummed, heart aching by the thought of him being in danger because of her.

"I burdened him enough. Seems like he was right when he dumped me. I'm holding him back."

"You don't know huh." Kai raised his eyebrows. Leira narrowed her eyes at him.

"What?"

"Meh. Then it don't matter if he found someone else?" He said changing the topic.

Leira rested her head on his shoulder, enjoying the beautiful music. Somehow she finds it a bit sad.

"That is when I can finally tell myself to move on."

Seunwo sighed as he arrived at the coffee shop. It's been a week since he had taken time to recover from his work. That's way too long in his situation.

Sighing for the up tenth time, he went inside ordering his coffee.

"Aye, doc. I haven't seen you in awhile. Thought you transferred back to Seoul?" The barista that had always serve him asked curiously.

"I just took some days off." Seunwo shook his head as he took his usual seat.

"What should I do?"

"It's going to be alright. I promise."

// //

"What possibly could make her breakdown like that.." He hummed, recalling the scene he had witnessed at the rooftop.

He thought she would be there taking some fresh air and she was but he didn't expect that he would see her with his own best friend, crying in his embrace.

It didn't sit well with him even though he knew that Leira isn't with him anymore. He leaned back to his seat and thanked the barista that was serving his coffee.

"Well doctor, I hope youre back on track today. Hwaiting!" The young looking barista cheered and went back to his post. Seunwo smiled to him warmly before looking down to his phone.

"I hope so too."

He realized one thing. Ever since that day, he didn't bother to change his lockscreen wallpaper. Leira was smiling brightly in the screen. A lump he felt arise in within his chest.

Looking at it briefly, he dialed her number.

"Can we meet?"
