*****Violet's POV *****
"I know they never make any sense." Whispered the lady next to me. She was gorgeous, with her fierce red hair and striking blue eyes,"Hi by the way. My name is Rosalie." She smiled politely.
"Nice to meet you Rosalie, my name is Violet," I said with a smile,"So what brings you here? You seen too sane." I whispered whilst laughing.
She laughed and answered," My husband dragged me here as usual, I was forced into this. That right there , the one that laughed about divorcing her husband is Lydia. She makes it here mission to know everything about everyone and on both ends of her, they are her elite friends. To be honest these social gathering groups are a lot like high school, only thing that's different is they filled with rich stuck up asses." She explained
"Oh well at least I have lost of experience with high school idiots." I laughed.
"They are a group of idiots. I don't know what they call themselves, but I do know that some of them believe that they are secretly being filmed for something like the 'Beverly Hills housewives' show. They are truly a delusional bunch." She whispered making me laugh loudly which cause them to turn and glare a little at me before continuing with their ridiculous conversations.
"So what brings you here?" Rosalie asked.
"It's actually the other way around. My husband was reluctant to come but I dragged him here and then I was dragged by one of his friend's wife to...here. I guess it's karma." She let out a little chuckle.
"Well we know who wears the pants in your marriage." She said making me laugh, before I could say anything Lydia cut in.
ahhh, the know it all...
"So tell me how's married life Violet?" She asked.
"It's honestly amazing." I said with a smile.
"Of course it should be. After all you are married to Eric Renorez, the biggest catch. Every female with eyes was and is after him." Said Lydia and I noticed her subtly tapping the shoulder of the lady sitting next to her. I also noticed from my peripheral vision,Rosalie's reaction to who I was.
Time to lie my ass off and ensure my place in hell.
"Yes, Eric is an amazing person so I can understand why women would be after him. He is after all the funniest person I ever met and I can not express how happy it makes me to know I get to spend the rest of my life with him." I said smiling so widely that my cheeks hurt. I also made sure I gave off my best dreamy eyes earning multiple 'awes' from mostly all the women around the table.
"How did you both meet?" asked the girl that Lydia subtly tapped on the shoulder, whom was also giving me weird looks. She was a beautiful woman dressed in a black spaghetti-strap-skin- tight-knee-height dress, that matched her raven hair and she had lovely blue eyes but her eyes had a murderous look in them.
Well she seems like a potential sociopath.
"Through our parents." I said whilst laughing awkwardly and picked up a flute of champagne in front of me, chugging the liquor down my throat which calmed my nerves.
"I heard he is really incredible in bed." Said another girl.
Oh, that man-whore! Wouldn't be surprised if he has an STD.
"Ahhh...Well it—" before I could give a complete answer, a light kiss was placed on my cheek and the person took the empty seat beside me. I turned towards him and gave him a hug,"Hunt!"
"Vi!! You know how much I love you right?" He questioned and placed his head on my shoulder. I looked down at him and pushed his head off.
"What do you want?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Did I ever tell you how pretty you are?" He said whilst putting his arm around my shoulders, causing me to glare at him," Okay, fine. I need you help, please pretend to be my girlfriend. I have an old flame harassing me."
"Old flame you say?" I asked with a laugh.
"Please!" He pleaded, placing his head back on my shoulder with his arm now locked in mine.
"Fine, but you owe me big time." I whispered.
"Awe, you are the best!" He said loudly and kissed my cheek and went back to the position he was in.
"Of course I am." I laughed and ruffled his black hair.when I looked up, I realized that all the ladies were looking at us and whispering . Hunter also noticed," Hey, I am gonna go. Please come and find me when you ready." He whispered and left.
"So who is that piece of eye-candy? We all know that's not your husband." Said the lady with the murderous stare that sat next to Lydia.
I'm gonna call you Diane. After Diane Downs.
Diane wiggled her eyebrows, after a few seconds I caught on to what she was insinuating, which only caused to bust out in laughter.
"That piece of eye-candy," I said exaggerating the word 'candy', " is Hunter. My best friend but more like a brother I adopted. I better go find him and help him out of his predicament." I said with a smile and turned to leave but stopped when I heard whispers.
"do you really believe her?"
"Such a whore."
"He deserves better."
I stopped in place and turned around, "Ladies with all due respect, I already told you all the truth. I am not having an affair though it does not concern anyone of you. My husband already knows that my relationship with a Hunter is plutonic friendship, well it's more like a sibling bond but none of that matters because the main point is that I am not having an affair so may I kindly ask you ladies to mind your own business and to not spread any rumors. Good evening ladies." I spoke in cold, yet calm tone so that they knew I was not a force to be reckoned with.
When I walked away I heard Rosalie's voice faintly in the background as she gave those woman a piece of her mind. I smiled thinking about how we only just met, yet she stood up for me.
I walked across the ballroom when two muscular arms wrapped around my waist, I smiled and rolled my eyes knowing that it was Eric, by the sent of his cologne, so I wrapped my hands over hi," would you like to dance he asked as his hot breath gently brushed against my ears.
I turned around placing both my palms on his chest so that I was now facing him."Can I say no?" I asked but he just shook his head smiling.
"Then why ask?" I questioned, he smiled and guided me towards the dance floor.
'Dance Me To The End Of Love' began to place as Eric pulled me closer to him and placed one hand on the back of my left shoulder and the other on my waist as we danced to the rhythm of the song.
"I heard about the little incident with those ladies." He whispered in my ear, just as I was about to justify myself he said," I'm proud of you, all those women are wolves." The statement caused me to smile.
"Can I ask you something?" He nodded," Who is that woman always stuck to Lydia?" I asked curiously.
"Ohh, Our fathers wanted us to get married when I first took over the company. She is an old friend of mine.We dated a couple of times but I just wasn't ready so I rebelled against the proposal." He said to me, I was shocked at how he opened up to me so easily. I think it's because we are dancing.
He spun me around and we swayed together. He spun me yet again with my back now against his chest. Holding his arms, we continued swaying from side to side and I felt his lips gently graze my neck.
"So what are you and Hunter up to?" He asked and I felt the air from his nostrils blow against my ear. He twirled me so that I was now facing him.
"Uh... a...a...an old flame of his won't stop bothering him, so I am gonna help him extinguish it, as his fake girlfriend." I said to him after regaining my composure.
when did I start stuttering?
"okay..." said Eric but the look on his face made me laugh.
He spun me one last time and then dipped me as the song came to an end. He smiled at me and planted a kiss on my forehead.
"As much as I would hate to interrupt you both, I have to." Said Hunter who popped out from behind one of the tree pot plant decoration that were on the sides of the room. Eric glared at Hunter as he went on discussing the plan," Okay so I am going to take her to the balcony and then you come after five minutes." He said for the hundredth time.
"Okay I get it! Now go." I said pushing him forward causing him to stumble and almost fall on top of a old lady. I heard Eric stiffen a laugh, making me laugh.
"So I believe it is time for the drama to begin. Hope you enjoy the show." I said with a smile as I walked out to the balcony where Hunter and a pretty blonde stood in an A-line black floor length dress.
lights, camera, Action...again.
I rubbed my eyes so that it would look like I was crying, " Hunter..."
"Jenna. You are here?" Said Hunt all 'dumbstruck'.
" I wanted to surprise you, but...but...you are cheating on me." I said letting out a heavy sigh followed by some tears," We were supposed to get married next week. How am I going to through this. 3 years Hunter. 3 years! Of my life I wasted on you! You promised me a forever..." I said turning my face away from him, looking at the ground and wiped my fake tears away.
"Baby...I'm..." I held my hand up to cut him off.
"How long are you going to lie to me, first Lucy and now her! How am I gonna tell our daughter that her father betrayed us?" I added.
"Oh my God! I didn't know. I swear. Please forgive me, I didn't mean to wreck your home." She said with so much guilt residing in her eyes. She looked like she were on the verge of tears when she ran off, back him to the venue.
Eric came out to the balcony laughing," you guys are good." He said .
"Ya, Vi. We were on fire this time." Said hunter smiling.
"Yes, congratulations Hunter. You have scared that poor girl for life, probably gonna have lots of trust issues." I said glaring at him.
"Vi, calm down. I know her, she will bounce back in no time." He said whilst hugging me and then left.
I leaned against the balcony and felt Eric slowly slip next to me. We both stood out in the warm summer night enjoying the lovely breeze.
"Its funny how Hunter and I always got each other out of messes like this so frequently." I said laughing which only caused Eric to raise an eyebrow," I would pretend to be his girlfriend to either stop a girl from hitting on him or to get rid of a one night stand. He would then in return help me get rid of the potential suitors that my parents used to force me to go on dates with. One of the main reasons why I ended up married to you, my luck just ran out." I said laughing.
He held his hand on his heart and pretended to be hurt," I always thought I was your first choice!" He said milking it a bit too much.
and I'm the drama queen?
I laughed and bumped him with my shoulder, " well you thought wrong, no one was my first choice."
The laughter died down after I realized what I had said," I am sorry for how thing went." He said with guilt evident in his voice.
"Trust me, being stuck with you isn't as bad as living in that house with them. So in a way you saved me and I am thankful for that." Before he could utter the words I knew he was thinking of, I cut him off," Don't you dare let that get to your head, it's big enough as it is." I said causing him to laugh.
I rested my head on his shoulder and he placed his head on mine. We stared at the beautiful night sky as the moon shone brightly and the stars twinkled. We slipped into a comfortable silent as the stars continued dancing above us. It was moments like this, where you wish time could freeze so it could last forever. It all felt like a...dream.
