Alex's POV
Even though I was so exhausted from the power I was seeing double vision, I was holding onto my conscience to make sure that Ash would make it out alright. When I felt a hand on my back, I jerked up quickly and prepared myself to fight, but I was just looking at my own pack doctor. "Sorry," I mumbled. Just sitting up was taking up so much energy that I ended up slumping into my own body, and I was hardly able to focus on the words being spoken to me.
"He should be alright as long as he gets some very good rest over the next few days. You could clearly also use some pretty good sleep, Alpha Alexander."
I managed to mutter something totally incoherent before passing out.

When I stirred again, I was in my own bed with my body pressed right against Ash's. I can't believe that I passed out without knowing the state of my pack! At least my mate seems to be pretty normal based on his strong, even breaths.
I rolled out of his grip easily before standing up. At first, my whole body swayed menacingly, but I managed to stop the desperate movement by gripping my nightstand with my life.
I walked forward with the support of the wall until I could get to my office. I could hardly see straight, but that was beside the point. I have to make sure that there was no major damage to my pack. I pushed open the door to find Winston behind my desk talking to two men. "Winny, out!" I barked. All three pairs of eyes looked towards me in shock, but my beta was unable to disobey the command. His head hung down in slight embarrassment, and I could see his ears turning scarlet.
I managed to stagger to my desk in the interest of not appearing weak in front of these people, and as soon as I sat down on the chair, I was glaring at the men. "Who the hell are you, what are you doing here, and why were you having a conversation with my beta in my office?"
"Dearest apologies. My name is Orion, and this is my brother Zayne. We are your uncles, and we were helping with the invasion of the Luna Llena pack. Your beta was just thanking us for out help before we set out."
"Well, I will reiterate thanks for assisting in the raid. It is my understanding that my pack wouldn't have made it through without your help, so thank you."
"Any time. Have a nice day."
The two men left together, and I allowed myself to lean back in my desk chair. I just sat there breathing for a minute before standing up again to go find one of my doctors. This time, I was much more steady on my feet, so I walked like a normal person down to the medical center.
Once I arrived, I easily found my personal favorite doctor, Caleb. "Alpha," he acknowledged before bowing deeply. It wasn't too hard to see the bags underneath his eyes, yet I chose not to take too much notice.
"Hello, Caleb. Do you have reports on how many were injured and... Well..."
"Of course, Alpha. Follow me."
Caleb lead me through the clinic until we reached the main office, and I was handed the current files. When I looked down at the paper, my heart sank down into my feet.
'500 injured, 50 dead' the paper read. This wasn't a light battle for our pack, then. "Um, that also includes Alpha Orion's pack. Only about 60% of those numbers came from our pack." Okay that's a little bit better, but still not good.
"Alright, thank you Caleb."
"Alpha?"
"Yes?"
"If you would like, I can check up on your pregnancy to make sure that everything is still going well."
"Is doing that going to detract from any other pack member's care?"
"No, Alpha."
"I guess we can do it then."
I was lead into a room off to the side of the clinic, and Caleb instructed me to lay down on the hospital-like bed. My shirt was removed before I lay down, and I could now feel Caleb's hands carefully rubbing a chilly substance over my stomach.
A weird looking machine was placed near my bump, and it was only a few moments of silence before Caleb began talking to me. "Everything is going smoothly, but there is something you should probably know about."
"What, Caleb?"
"They're twins. You're having twins. Would you like a picture?"
"Yes." My heart warmed at the thought of two little babies, and I smiled down at the picture when it was placed into my hands. "Thanks a lot, Caleb."
"You're very welcome, Alpha."
I stood up from the bed once he washed off my stomach before returning to my room. Ash still wasn't awake, so I set the pictures down on my bedside table before climbing into bed next to him. It's my turn to watch over him while he sleeps!
I ran my fingers gently through his black hair, and I let my thoughts slowly drift away. I thought about the two little lives I had inside of my body, and I could almost imagine life with them.
I sat on the porch watching Ash chase around a little boy with a similar hair color while our other son sat next to me watching with interest too. "You'll never catch me!" the first boy cheered joyously.
The little kid next to me leaned against my body, and I turned to smile at him, but there was nothing there. The presence there was cold, but Ash was still intensely chasing his son. I tried calling out to him, but my words didn't make it through. What does this mean?
I was shocked out of my vision by Ash moving slightly, and I had to wonder why it had turned out like that. Would one of our sons die early? I also ponder why I always have visions when I run my fingers through people's hair, but that was beside the point.
Ash moved again, and I could tell that he was beginning to wake up when a loud groan ripped from his throat. His body tried to sit up as soon as he was conscious, but I pulled him back down by the shoulders. "You're supposed to rest."
The loud groan of annoyance from his mouth was enough to make my own neck hair prick up, but I still refused to let him be up. "What if I don't want to rest? I'm fine, baby!"
"No ands, ifs, or buts mister. I'm just listening to the doctor."
"I need blood!"
"Then I'll go find you some, but if you move off of this bed I will personally find you to kick your ass into the moon!"
"Oh come on!"
"Ash, I can't risk it. Our kids need their father."
"I won't die from standing up."
"You need plenty of rest, so just lay there like a good vampire and go the hell to sleep."
"Fine. Just so you know, I'm still top."
"Whatever you say, buddy."
