Chapter 19: The bet

" If I win, my mother gets to go home and I serve the rest of her sentence", I say.

" And if I lose..... I will do whatever you want", I said.

Liam looks like he is thinking.

After a few minutes he nods his head.

" Challenge accepted ", he said.

:After dinner:

I walked out without being dismissed.

My roommate Anika, follows me and she does not look happy.

She finally corners me In the cell.

" What the heck were you thinking! You just put your life out on the line!", She yells.

" So", I say calmly.

Her nose flares and I know I ticked her off.

Now she was like a ticking bomb that could at any moment go off without warning.

" Avianna , I know I just met you but I'm already attached to you", she says sadly.

" You're such a good friend..... and I don't want to leave you", she said as tears freely ran down her cheeks.

" You're not going to lose me okay? I won't let that happen!", I shout.

" Okay", she said through a sob.

I wrap my arms around her and hug her.

She buries her head into my chest and cries.

Anika cried for two hours without stopping

After that she fell asleep in my embrace.

I pick her up careful not to wake her up.

I put her on the bed and tuck her in.

Then before going to my own bed I kiss her good night on the forehead.

She smiles but she does not wake up.

I climb into my own bed and fall asleep instantly.
