Chapter 20 : Lost family

I wake up to the sound of someone sobbing.

I open my eyes and look over at Anika.

She was crying her heart out and I did not know why.

I saw many different emotions flash across her face.

Remorse,anger,confusion,sadness.

I got out of bed and sat down on hers.

" Come here Anika", I say softly as I open my arms.

She doesn't hesitate and puts her head on my shoulder.

I rub her her back, knowing that it helps others to calm down.

"I'm sorry, Avianna for waking you up", she said as the sobs wracked her body.

" Shhh, there is no need to feel sorry", I whisper softly.

" Yes there is Avianna!", she wailed.

" Why?", I ask.

" Because", she said not continuing her sentence.

I could see that she was trying to stop crying, trying to keep her walls of defense up inside her.

" Anika, it's okay to cry", I say.

" You don't cry!", she retorted.

I sighed.

" Yes, I do Anika, I cried everyday for six years over my mother, not knowing that she was alive or not", I say.

Then she breaks she can't hold her emotions in any longer.

She starts sobbing but this time loudly.

She buries her face into my chest just like she did the night before.

After she calmed down , I decided to see if she would tell me what was bothering her.

" Anika?", I ask.

" What?", she asks.

" Can I ask you something?".

"Yes".

" What's bothering you?", I ask.

She takes a few deep breaths to calm herself down.

" Liam's dad killed my family!", she said

Immediately hatred started to course through my veins.

She was only 14!

She didn't deserve this and neither did her family!

She must have saw my expression.

" Avianna, it's okay it's done and over with ", she said in a shaky voice.

" No, it's not over yet, this means war!", I say to her.

Her eyes widen.
