Water

"Hey!" Elise exclaims as Aiden splashes water from the ocean onto her. "I didn't want to get wet!"

"Too bad, so sad," Aiden playfully sticks out his tongue at her, but laughs and leaps away as she retaliates with a large splash. She's gotten into the water now, which laps against her knees.

"Thought you didn't wanna get want?" Aiden teases.

"Worth it for the revenge." She winks, and hauls up the biggest amount of water yet, and gleefully runs away as Aiden chases after her. Their delighted laughs sound against the furling ocean waves, the delicious, mirthful echoes blending with the roaring tides and Cinnamon's barks.

"I'm wet," Elise complains, as she attempts to wring out the drenched corner of her shirt.

"Your fault for jumping into the water in shorts and a tank top."

"Hmph." Elise haughtily turns up her nose at him.

Aiden laughs. But he can't help notice that she is shivering. There's a slight breeze by the ocean, which would be comfortable if ~someone~ wasn't soaking wet.

He pauses for a moment, then, "Here."

Elise blinks as he offers her the scrunched up material that is his hoodie, which he had wisely set aside on the beach shore next to Cinnamon before they started the water fight.

"I don't need it."

"Yes, you do. What if you catch a cold?"

"What about yourself?"

"I'm fine. I'm immune to being cold."

"So am I."

"You're shivering."

"No, I'm not."

"...Just take it, you idiot." He shoves her lightly.

"Who are you calling an idiot?" Elise complains. But it is that statement that makes her accept it.

Elise hesitates before uncrumpling the hoodie. She holds it against her chest for a minute and breathes in the distinctive scent: fresh and crisp, from the laundry detergent or cologne or aftershave or whatever product guys use that she doesn't care enough to know. Whatever it is, it reminds her of Aiden.

She quickly slips it on. It's warm, from him holding it before he gave it to her, she supposes.

"Thanks."
