Postpone

Right, there was that ridiculous suggestion not too long ago. But it came from a politician who quote had almost turned into one of the infected. It is normal for him to be afraid and desperate. However, the other hanyous were not having it and said, 'Right now Lila-sama is our Queen.'

The Queen of hanyous should be her mother. But many wanted her to step down from her role due to her being close to Lucifer.

'Then Lila-chan, take care of the hanyou society for me. This way, I can have free reigns to move.'

It's been a month since she last heard from her mother either. The people around her sure have a lot of free time. Her gaze fell on the pendant around her neck, and she opened it. It was a picture of her and Haruka.

This pendant randomly appeared at the base in hers and Haruka's room a month ago. Based on the surrounding light around it, Zane must have sent it. At the very least, it confirmed that Haruka and Zane were okay. However, there was no note, and nothing else arrived after.

"Even if you miss Haruka so much, you need to remember to take a break." Kiryu lectured as he pulled up a chair from the corner and sat down.

"It is precisely because I miss him that I am trying to keep my mind occupied. If I don't work, I will get tempted to rush out and find him."

"I am sure he is alright. He sent you that after all."

"Mm, but I wish he sent a message too." Lila sighed. "I miss hearing his voice."

"You have to restrain yourself for just a while longer. It won't be long before he comes here."

"Time is running out, Kiryu, what if-" Lila didn't even want to finish that sentence. It will take at least a couple of days to reach here from the K region; if they don't start traveling now, they will be late.

Even if they are only late by a day, those people will tell Haruka it is too late. If they show up a day late, they may get arrested on the spot.

"Ssh, it's alright. I will do something about it."

For some reason, when Kiryu says that, she doesn't require an explanation; she just trusts him right away. It seems no matter how much distance she puts between them; it is futile. But she has to try; if she doesn't distance herself from him, he will never get over her.

Lila rolled to the other side, so she was not facing him. "I'm going to sleep."

"Yeah."

She did not hear any signs of him leaving, and Lila bit her lip. "Kiryu, you don't have to keep watching over me like this."

"You don't want me here?"

"It's not good for you," Lila mumbled. "How can you get over me if you spend so much time with me?"

Lila didn't answer his question. No matter how cold she treats him, the reality is she is only pretending. Of course, she wants him here. She wouldn't be able to get any sleep if she was alone. Kiryu's presence by her side calms her down.

"About that getting over you thing. You know I have to apologize."

"Um what?"

"I am postponing until the world returns to normal. I mean you understand right, Lila? We have to work together."

He does make a point there. So she supposes her behavior since that talk they had was unnecessary.

Lila peeked at him through her blanket. Kiryu was silently reading some documents, careful not to make a single sound. He is truly a kind guy. She has never met anybody as kind as Austin Kiryu.

Haruka is nicer now, but he still has those moments where she can't help but think 'jerk.' But regardless of such things, she still loves Haruka.

If she could use kindness to measure her feelings, Kiryu would win. But what she wants from a relationship isn't just kindness anymore. In the past, she used to think she would marry someone like those princes in fairytales. That was why when she met Kiryu, and he fit the criteria, she simply stuck to him, thinking he was her only one.

However, after she met Haruka, she gradually realized that love was not that simple. Haruka has a lot of secrets; they fought a lot. Their relationship was so messy at the start; it was not like the dream-like relationship she had with Kiryu.

But for some reason, she clung to Haruka. She realized it was enough if he was good to her. Every single person has a skeleton in their closest that they do not feel comfortable sharing. Although she always believed that couples should share everything together.

Haruka had many secrets, no many scars from the past. She pushed him too much even though he was clearly uncomfortable saying them. It was enough that he was good to her; even if he hid things, he treated her very well. He showed her how much he loved her.

'I only realized these things during the time we spent apart.' She supposes that saying is true.

'You only realize what you have once you lose it.'

Even if Haruka didn't tell her everything, he still treated her very well. Why was she not satisfied with that?

It was so immature and childish of her. Why did she behave that way? Haruka did more than enough; it was her.

But it wasn't just her behavior towards Haruka that she regretted. Her gaze flickered towards the man beside her. She did many stupid things in front of Kiryu too.

Kiryu has always loved her, but she blamed him for their breakup. He did that for her sake, and yet she criticized him so much. But despite all that, Kiryu has never blamed her.

"Kiryu," Lila spoke up.

"What is it? You should sleep."

"I feel a bit restless."

"Should I sing a song for you?"

Lila shook her head. "Just talk to me for a bit."

However before Kiryu could say anything, the doors burst open, revealing a few people. "Sir Kiryu, something urgent has happened. Please take a look."

Kiryu looked over at worried, but she waved her hand. "It's alright. I should sleep. Get going."

He seemed reluctant to leave but eventually did so. But not before giving her a mini-lecture on how she needed to rest and how he had already postponed the meeting. Her sweat fell; he can truly be like a dictator sometimes. But this is his way of showing that he cares.
