Chapter 5: The Nobility's Hobbies
Thanks to my birthday party, I was able to mingle with various noble children around my age but for some reason, I feel uncomfortable.
today, just like how it had been for the past few months, I am invited to a tea party. I'm in the mansion of one of the 4 dukes of the empire, Duke Farhan
The one organizing the tea party was her eldest daughter who is as old as Brother Calvin. Heaven Farhan, her name is so nostalgic, so I was planning to ask about how she was named as such later.
Despite being 6 years old outside I'm a 24 years old inside, I know why this person invited me. I'm too young for their circle but she still invited me, so I pretty much get why they want to stuck up to me.
Brother Calvin, even though he's not the crowned Prince is no doubt a royal blood, so no matter what happens he is still a prince. Plus I heard from the maids that some nobles want my Brother Calvin to be the next emperor instead of Brother Tristan, if I remember it right, they are called aristocratic party? I'm not that familiar with the power houses and the nobility parties yet but I know that many people wants to use me and my brothers to gain power and connection and due to that, I need to be careful.
At the entrance of the huge mansion where the carriage I was riding stopped, a line of servants on each side stood and a young lady, probably around 13 or 14 years old, with Red coppery hair greeted me.
"Princess Anya, Welcome to our humble home, my name is Heaven Farhan, eldest daughter of Duke Farhan" She said while curtsying to me
"I thank Lady Heaven Farhan for inviting me" I said with my corporate smile
I called it as such because it reminded me of one of the shows I watched on earth, I forgot the title of it but I remember this, because I also used it during my high school days, where you need to smile despite being insulted by teachers or bullied by classmates.
Sometimes, you just need to smile, cause if you react to negativity or seek sympathy to the other party, you are giving them the satisfaction and power to hurt you more. They will feel superior and bully you in any way possible just to feed their inner inferiority. Cause some people feel good about themselves when they see other people suffer.
We exchanged pleasantries and then started walking towards the tea party venue.

We finally arrived at a gazebo surrounded by roses of various colors and sizes. Inside the gazebo, there are four young ladies, everyone were around the same age as Lady Heaven.
"Welcome Princess Anya" the four of them said in unison
"My name is ..."
I'm sleepy, why is it that their introductions has to be that long? I mean I know that they are just courteous and all but it's so boring and I don't even plan to remember their names!
I just came to this party because out of the four dukes, Duke Farhan is the most wealthy and powerful, he has the most power, after the royal family. It's just out of respect and not exactly for making friends.
How am I even supposed to make friends with children averaging 15 years old? I'm 24 years old this year! we don't have the same wavelength.
the long introductions ended and thank God I was able to sit.
there are a lot of sweet desserts on the table and tea cups for each lady but the 5 ladies surrounding the table barely touched their food. Is that normal? if I remember right when I was their age I would stuff my face with chocolates and other sweets.
despite all the criticism inside my head I still smiled, my corporate smile and slowly took a piece of each type of dessert present on the table.
"Oh my, Lady Heaven, what a beautiful necklace" one of the four ladies said while admiring Heaven's necklace
I can't help but look at it, so did the other three ladies.
It was a diamond necklace and I don't see anything special about it. I mean, yes it is special due to the fact that it is made out of diamonds. If I am still on earth and saw that, I'd say the person is really wealthy and maybe think the necklace is really nice but then after moving in this world, specially as a Princess, something like that becomes trivial. Am I boasting? No! I'm just saying that the ladies in this table are trying to stuck up to Lady Heaven using compliments and empty flattery.
"Thank you, It's actually a gift from Prince Calvin" Lady Heaven said while acting coy
I want to vomit!
"Oh, for the 2nd prince to give such a gift, you must be someone special to him" another girl said
"I don't know about Prince Calvin's thoughts and I do not dare assume"she said while blushing
I was dumbfounded on my seat while looking at her and imagining my Big Brother acting romantic. NO! I can't even imagine! that troublesome child?! He knows nothing about relationships! much more a romantic relationship!
All he knows is how to swing his sword and practice his magic.
"So, Princess Anya, did Prince Calvin ever talk about Lady Heaven?" one of the girls who looked like she's so excited about something asked me
Did my Brother really give something like that? I don't know!
"Me and Brother have not seen each other ever since my Birthday party, he is busy with his apprenticeship, so I have no idea" I said nonchalantly
"Oh, is that so" the girl who asked said in a small voice and looked cautiously to Lady Heaven
Lady Heaven flinched a little but still managed to smile
"Princess do like sweet food, as I've heard, that is why I prepared a variety of them" Lady Heaven said which changed the topic
"Yes" I just said and stuffed a slice of cake to my mouth then the table fell silent once again
I can see the four ladies look at each other like their communicating telepathically
"Ah, my mother brought in a new pet yesterday!" one of the ladies said hurriedly
I just ignored them and continued my taste testing
"Oh? what is it this time?" another girl asked
"It's beastman! a rabbit folk" she said cheerfully
"Really?! What color? I wanna see! Mother never lets me accompany her to those auctions!" another one said
I stopped eating and listened to their conversation, Heaven who seemed to notice my action suddenly spoke
"Princess! are you familiar with the auction?" Lady Heaven heaven asked with twinkling eyes
"No, would you mind telling me what The Auction is?" I asked
"well, I understand since Princess is still young, but I guarantee that Princess will love The Auction! there are a lot of cute animals there!" She said
"Yes! there are also sea folks in The Auction!" One of the girls said
"My mother even bought a mermaid once but then she died, Dad said that maybe the mermaid was defective of something" another one said in a sad voice and the other girls comforted her
Mermaid? Beast men? Defective? Is this society that advance? they make mythical creature robots as pets or something?
