GEORDI'S POV
The smell of freshly baked muffins was all I could smell even outside my home. A small smile was sketched on my lips the whole time I was decorating the muffins. They were blueberry flavored, Nathann's favorite.
I was planning on inviting him today to hang out. Somehow, I've been looking forward every day I courted him. I wanted to shower him with love and care, and I genuinely wanted to, even if... his sickness disappeared?
No. Geor, you love Fred. This is all a plan. To save Nathann. Okay?
I snapped out of my thoughts when a loud thump continously banged against my front door. Taking off my apron, I ran to the front door and was greeted by a scared-looking Fredrick.
My smile dropped when I saw how scared he looked. He was sweating buckets. He didn't even spare a word or two and just dragged me out of my home and pushed me into his car.
"What is going on, Fred?!" I asked as he started the engine and started to drive to god knows where,
"Nathann.."
"What about Nathann?"
"He... He's hospitalized. He's unconscious right now, and the doctor said before I left to get you was that he... He might give up any moment now." His voice crack as he said told me, and I felt my whole world stop as I slowly understood what he was talking about.
Nathann... He... He's gonna die, huh? I wasn't able to save him, huh...
"B-But I thought I saved him! I was courting him!" I choked,
"No, Geor. You.. You didn't save him. Because those feelings you were feeling are not genuine." He said as his eyes were focused on the road, but he was crying, nonstop,
"No! You've got to be kidding me. Nathann shouldn't die! He doesn't deserve to die!" I wailed, banging my hands against the glove compartment in front me, feeling all the rage and pain coming out,
"Please calm down--"
"CALM DOWN?! YOU EXPECT ME TO CALM DOWN?! FRED MY BEST FRIEND IS GONNA DIE ANY MOMENT NOW! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN?!!" I yelled, spatting all the words that first came to mind.
My tears were blurring my sight as I kept my head low, feeling empty and hurt.
No... Nathann's not gonna die, right? This is just a prank, right?
We arrived at the hospital. It was isolated, no one was outside. Only a few cars and ambulances, nothing else. But the inside seemed busy, nurses and doctors walking here and there with grief and fear etched on their face.
We walked to Nathann's room, and the sight wasn't nice. His whole family was outside by the waiting area, his sister was wailing uncontrollably, his mother was sobbing against her husband while her husband was putting up a straight face, but I knew too well he was very hurt. Everyone's hurt.
They looked up and saw me, pulling me into a hug as sniffs and sobs were all I could hear. The door to Nathann's door opened, and the doctor came out, looking very confused.
"Humbergs family?... I've got something to tell you."
