One-Sided Swarm Raid

(Denzel's POV):

All of the active members met up outside the castle walls to prepare for the front lines. Malech moved towards the position I ordered him to set up the magic array that is for a test. William moved around to check out the inn whether everyone is safe and sound for now.

Seymour didn't agree initially to the plan as it could result to major collateral damage. However, with the sonic wave drone I created, he approved to the plan I laid out for the front line team only. It's pretty much a helpful asset that would diminish the chances of losing a member by a huge amount.

Moreover, with simply having this drone, we could increase our fighting strength much further when it comes to either offense or defense. The only problem is that, if the enemy is finds out about this, we're screwed

"Oh yeah, I never put any defensive mechanisms for this."

Not like I have the time for it right now.

The sun is rose up and now we're ready for war. Once again, to start the raid party, we always go for something flashy. From Seymour's command, Karl generated a large piece of light.

"Karl, start the party." - Seymour

"Will do." - Karl

As such, Karl raised his staff and readied the original copy of the Book of Death. I positioned myself in the front line along with Jerald, Malech, and Vince.

"Followed by the power of the gods of frost I order. Realm of Ice!"

I also prepared myself as I saw multiple human figures in the distance.

Now that I used Realm of Ice, which is an ability that will allow me to go chantless on all magic abilities related to ice. Basically, I mastered ice magic.

I generated hundreds and hundreds of ice spikes within the gigantic ball of light Karl made. Usually, I can make up to one hundred plus but because of my Mastery of Ice magic, and atmospheric mana, I can make up to a thousand of them. Of course, now that we see our targets, Robin should be ready...

"Robin, disintegrate them!" - Seymour

"Goodbye front lines!" - Robin

The light starts to converge and go for one direction, destroying everything in the path it takes.

It does eat up the ball of light Karl made but the more it uses up, the more it reveals the follow-up.

However, the enemies seem to be prepared as they summoned thousands of monsters to fight for them. Which is why I aimed towards farther to the distance.

"Denzel, I swear if you miss your shots." - Seymour

"I might miss, but I think that they would block my attack instead."

Earlier, Karl did tell me about the chances of the enemy blocking my attack, so I was completely prepared for it.

"If they did block the attack I'll charge in along with my team."

"Stay safe, I know how you act during combat so if you fuck it over the plan will be completely wasted!" - Seymour

"That's dead low, but if that guy aims for me then we're screwed."

Honestly yes, if that guy in which I forgot his name attacks me instead of the castle, we'll be in a whole lot of trouble to improvise this. Even if it does happen I have Malech and William by my side, and Karl to support me if needed.

Ross seems to have a hunch as the spirits sense trouble within the area.

Karl's ball of light finally disintegrated, allowing me to start a hailstorm towards them.

Directing all ice spikes I made within the area, I threw them all towards the enemy lines to clean up more of the summoned creatures. The thing is that, most of it was blocked by a bunch of people in robes in the distance. Thus making most of my shots useless as heck and me improvising a lot.

"Crap, do we charge in?"

"Yeah, that's our only choice, to accept the front lines." - William

"Alright! Lost State!"

An ability that came with my vocation. The Traveler, this ability allows me to share boosting stats towards allies within a small area. It's small enough to reach Jerald and Vince which are farther out.

Now one last touch.

"Darkened State! Tarot Card XI! The Strength! Activation!"

Now let's roll!

Hundreds of wolves charge in to surround us five in a circular shape.

"Command! Setting Formation One!"

The four immediately set themselves into a pattern to receive attacks that attempt to surround us from one direction. Practically a triangular shape with me as the center.

For now I should focus on battle.

"Glacial Augmentation!"

I got Omnitelum augmented with ice magic gives my attacks a chance to freeze enemies for a short time. It may look ineffective, but that's what I only have.

"Duality!"

While changing both gauntlets into a pair of swords, we received the all-out attack of summoned beasts. From Wolves, up to Valkyries.

Jeez, Valkyries have been sent from the enemy side. This gave me a confirmation that the enemy has an Angelic Apostle in their team.

"Pretty sure an Angelic Apostle class requires level 125, how prepared are they?"

"No idea but talking while fighting is not my thing!" - Malech

Malech made a huge sweep, clearing out multiple monsters from my left flank. Jerald is still holding on while keeping a small distance gap with the surrounding monsters. This allows his sword to strike through the enemies without much trouble.

On my side, I have basically a large angle to maintain. Which forces me to use crowd damage skills such as cold tailwind. Boosting my speed while applying frostbite to my opponents. With the augmentation, the chances of freezing enemies is still there.

I switched my weapon in my left hand into a gauntlet since I'm receiving various attacks from the claws and clubs that I keep seeing near my face.

Dodging most of which in hair's breadth I took up the liberty of charging my left gauntlet to create a powerful shockwave.

Seeing that duality are pretty ineffective, I have decided my choice of weaponry for this wave.

I will switch to Vajra left and Gauntlet right against these small fry. If the Valkyrie tries to swoop in, I'll block it with my Vajra as I will only rely on Mitch and Chesca to kill these targets.

After fully charging Omnitelum, I discharged it and created a large shockwave which actually froze all targets in the ten meter cone-shaped area in front of me.

And then an idea kicks into me.

"Those frozen by me will be shattered into pieces, Shatter!"

All frozen enemies were shattered into monster parts, and into atmospheric mana.

Then using atmospheric mana, I could produce more magic without consuming my own mana pool which is still a lot.

However, I should save it up for better opponents. Me and my team have to survive tens of thousands of summoned monsters while holding back a lot for a long time. So it's practically less than ideal if we're exhausted.

I suddenly had an idea where I can use a shockwave dealt by my gauntlet to freeze or knock back monsters, if frozen, they can be eliminated. If nothing, they can be knocked back and take damage anyway.

This will make it more efficient.

After switching the gauntlet to my dominant hand, I start charging my gauntlet and fought in a more defensive manner this time.

Above the Castle Walls (Symor's POV)

Huh, that's weird, Denzel's fighting defensively this time. He's usually ultra aggressive in combat.

As I ponder about Denzel's tactical trickery, I kept an eye out for flying units which could cause heavy trouble for us. However, Mitch and Chesca got that covered with their marksmanship skills.

"Meteorite Shower."

Casting a high tier Earth plus Gravity compound magic, I dropped multiple pieces of rock from sky high towards a few hundred monsters.

Surprisingly, the meteorites don't detonate, but they produce a powerful shockwave into the ground and its surroundings, which creates a crater. The shockwave it delivers, kills off nearby things and will knock around things that are a bit farther off the center of impact. This creates multiple holes of interference so Denzel and his group could take more breathers.

"Nimbus Felony!" - Karl

Karl generates thick lightning towards the enemies that are summoning the monsters. However, the moment lightning struck the enemy, it was absorbed by some barrier the enemy erected.

"More magic then!" - Karl

"Hold! Cancel that Karl! Something's fishy about that barrier of theirs!"

"Are you sure? I'll examine first then!" - Karl

"That's fine, I'll cover your spot."

Karl's eye color on his left eye changed to blue. As his analysis began, his eye starts to emit mechanical magic particles that looks like a full fledged check on magic.

This might take a bit of time due to the distance so I'll have to take two spots.

"Blast Furnace."

Thick fire burst out to burn enemies that haven't reached the frontline. Flying enemies come by here and there to attack us, or the front line, but Mitch and Chesca got us covered from them since they are both in their respective watchtowers.

"Magic Burst Switch, Switch to Rapid Chantless Deployment..."

The equivalent of this is a minigun that uses mana or atmospheric mana, but these can only deploy low tier magic attacks such as Elemental Spikes at a rapid rate of a gatling.

Using various elements, I shoot out hundreds of elemental spikes that clear off many targets. After using Rapid Burst for more than 20 seconds, it cleared off like ten percent of the monster count. At the same time, Karl finished his analysis.

"That barrier uses the principles of absorbing and conversion, therefore using mana related attacks will only help the enemy not on their mana supply, but also in their health. It's a healing barrier Seymour!" - Karl

"For sure? Then we can't do anything about that, let's just clear off these small fry first."

"Alright! Twilight Harmony!" - Karl

Huh? A Bard spell?

"Switch to Power Burst, Insidious Insanity!"

The war continues on...
