Rescue

Eren's POV

Well, it's been 2 weeks after we drove the enemy forces out of Italy. Some of the other countries are still holding, others completely destroyed. To me, this seems to look like a losing war, I wonder why the Americans still haven't surrendered.

Marksman's prediction was right, Ghost wanted to learn how to use it in order to control Phantom. Right now, we're back in the Yamantau mountains in Russia. In was night time so it was cold, even though I had layers of clothes on. I breathed into my fists to warm them up from the cold.

"Split up, same team as last time, Armin you're with Bomber. Bomber take the lead, I'm going with Captain." said Marksman.

"Why aren't we checking the factory?" asked Marlowe.

"There's no thermal reading inside which means that there's nothing in there." replied Hacker.

Marlowe nodded and went to his team. Ghost told us to meet back at this point and to not engage any titans that cross our paths. He also told us to keep radio contact with each other.

"So Captain, how are we going to find her, I mean, I don't know how she looks like none of us do, except for you and Lieutenant Marksman." asked Kit.

"I gave the the squad leaders a picture of her, don't worry about it." replied Ghost as we walked on the mountains.

"How long has this war been raging?" I asked.

"38 years." replied Kit.

"How come the government never came up with peace treaties or something?" asked Annie.

"The United Nations was destroyed, killing every countries' representative." replied Kit.

"How come we can't shift? We can probably change the tide of the war." I asked.

"We can't let the world know you exist." said Ghost.

I stopped in my tracks.

"Why not? We can expose the Russians for their wrong doings and it may even start a revolution in Russia." I implied.

Ghost turned around and looked at me.

"Because the history behind the island is that the Russians left the most dangerous criminals in Paradis Island and Marley." said Ghost.

"So it's basically a punishment." added Annie.

"Correct." replied Marksman.

Annie looked down and nodded. We continued to walk through the mountains. As we kept walking a started to some light emit in the sky but it was a green ray of light.

"Wow..." I said while looking up into the sky.

The light looked like it was dancing. Even Annie was gaping at the view.

"An aurora." said Kit.

"How is it being lit up." I asked,

"I'm not that smart to know." chuckled Kit.

I looked at Annie who was smiling at the view. She looked at me with a confused look, but smiled at me. I smiled back as my faced turned red.

"Brings back old memories, doesn't it." said Marksman.

"Yea, I miss those days." replied Ghost.

"You used to go sight seeing this all the time with Phantom." said Marksman.

"I will never forget those memories."

Marksman put a hand on his shoulder.

"We'll get her back no matter what." said Marksman

Ghost nodded and pat Marksman hand that was on his shoulder.

"How did you guys meet?" I asked.

"Through training back in boot camp." replied Ghost.

I nodded, I didn't want to ask anymore questions because it wasn't my business.

We continued walking for another 10 minutes in silence.

"So...is Jean and Mikasa a thing?" asked Kit.

I laugh once I heard that statement.

"No they're not. But Jean likes her." I said.

"Oh really? I thought they were something." said Kit.

"Do you have a girlfriend." I asked.

"Nope." said Kit.

"Do you want one?"

"Nope."

I was confused I why he didn't want one.

"So" continued Kit as he slung his shoulder around me. "Are you and Annie a thing?" he whispered.

I flushed red from hearing that which made Kit chuckle as he let go of me.

"So you guys are." chuckled Kit.

"N-no we are n-not." I stammered.

This made Kit laugh harder. Javelin looked at Kit and slightly smacked him the head.

"Be quiet." hissed Javelin.

"Sorry." said Kit.

I sighed and looked at me with a look that said "what happened." She walked next to me and whispered "what did he ask?"

"Oh ummmm nothing." I replied.

She frowned at me which sent chills through my spines, making my body a lot colder.

"Tell. Me. Now." she hissed.

"Okay okay, just calm down please." I said.

She sighed and nodded.

"Well, Kit asked if we were a uhhh.... thing." I said.

Annie turned bright red and looked away and walked faster leaving me in the back.

We continued when suddenly Marksman raised up his fist and we all stopped moving. He kneeled down and we came in closer. I saw a giant footprint right in front of Marksman.

"A titan was here." said Marksman.

Marksman looked up and we saw more footprints, leading to the forest up ahead.

"Follow it." said Ghost.

We walked into the woods and followed the footprints.

"This is Governor Johnson, does anyone read me?" said Governor Johnson through the radio which I heard from the headset.

"This is Captain Ghost of Ghost team 117, we hear you loud and clear." Ghost tripled.

"I got good news for you Captain." said Governor Johnson.

"I'm listening."

"We found a cure." replied Johnson.

"No fucking way." said Kit.

"Are you serious right now?" asked Ghost.

"Yes I am."

"We'll be back as soon as possible. Right after we find her." said Ghost.

"Understood, Governor Johnson out."

"That's great, all we have to do is just find her." said Kit.

Ghost nodded and spoked through the headset.

"Bomber, Hacker, Juggernaut come in." said Ghost.

"We're all here sir." said Bomber.

"Same here." replied Juggernaut.

"We're all good." added Hacker.

"Double time with this mission, Governor Johnson found a cure." said Ghost.

"Are you serious? How?" asked Hacker.

"No time to explain, just hurry up with the mission." Ghost replied.

"Yes sir." all of them replied.

We walked faster, following the trail of footsteps. After awhile we came to an entrance of a cave.

"Night vision goggles on." said Ghost.

I put them on and we walked into the cave. we began to walk slowly with our guns raised up, ready to take on anything.

That's when we saw a titan. It was leaning against the wall of the cave sleeping. The face of the titan looked like a girl, and I had to admit this was the prettiest titan I've ever seen.

"It's her, we found her." said Marksman.

Ghost took off his bag and pulled out the device and started to use it. The titan slowly opened her eyes and looked at Ghost. Ghost used the device and it stood up.

"Let's lead it outside." said Javelin.

Ghost led the titan outside and ordered it to sit down to which it obeyed.

"Kit, inform the others that we found the her and to rally at our position." said Marksman.

"Yes sir."

I watched as Ghost ordered it to go to sleep and it did.

"Well that went smooth." I said.

"Marksman call in a Chinook so that we can carry her." said Ghost.

"Understood."

8 hours later

Phantom was chained onto the floor back in base. Everyone was surrounding the titan just to see it turn back into its human form.

Governor Johnson came up with a needle with something in it, probably the cure. He nodded at Ghost who was ready to get Phantom when she come out.

Johnson came up to the titan and injected it with the needle. The titan slowly began to steam near its nape and I heard a loud ripping noise.

The steam began to grow thicker as the nape began to open and out came a naked girl. It looked like she pulled herself out but she was unconscious. Her head hung back as she came out. Ghost immediately rushed to her and covered her up with a towel. I could see tears slowly come out of his eyes.

"Welcome back home, Emily." I heard him whisper.

My friends and I were waiting outside the infirmary for at least 2 hours by now. I don't know why we are here but, there's nothing else to do. Ghost said we can have a break for now.

"I wonder how Captain is going to act now that he got his girlfriend back." said Jean.

"Probably a bit more lenient." said Armin.

Just then Kit came out and sat with us.

"Is she awake?" asked Historia.

"No not yet." sighed Kit.

The rest of the Ghost team came out but they went straight to their dorms.

"Why did they just leave?" asked Connie.

"They must be tired from all the missions." replied Kit.

"Hey Kit, can I ask you something?" I asked.

"Sure, what is it?"

"Did you join the military to avenge your brother or was that just a goal." I asked.

"Well it was to avenge my brother, but I learned that my brother wouldn't want me running around killing soldiers mercilessly. Captain Ghost told me that so yea." Replied Kit. "But Ghost knows himself and he can't prevent himself from thinking about his old squad."

"So how was he like back then?" asked Reiner.

"He was a happy kid back then. The only ones he lost was his mom and dad, but it didn't have a big impact on him, I mean it did but not as severe as the time he lost his old squad. Especially his girlfriend."

"What was his girlfriend like?" asked Bertholdt.

"Oh man, she's as cold-hearted as Recon." said Kit. "No offense though but worse than Mikasa and Annie."

Reiner laughed but immediately stopped when Mikasa and Annie glared at him.

"Recon and Phantom were always rivals." added Kit.

"I have a question but it's a different topic." said Armin. "How did you guys find us?"

"Well we didn't really find you, but we were on a mission in Paris, France. We were driving two cars but we were ambushed by Russian forces. They were in three cars and all of a sudden the cars just exploded and three titans came out and started chasing us. We were able to kill it, after that we just went into more research and found you guys."

"So, how are things working out for you guys right now?" asked Kit.

"Not bad I guess. I decided to let go of the past and move on." I said.

"I miss my home though." said Armin.

"Don't worry Armin, if we win this war, we might restore Eldia and make it a nation of your own." said KIt.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yea." smiled Kit, well that's what it looked like to me because he's bandanna moved.

That's when Marksman came out and looked at Kit.

"She's awake."
