"Thank You..."

A young boy gazed out the window. His snow-white skin was softer than the petals of a rose, bright and glowing like the dew found in the early morning. His big, doe eyes reflected his love for nature; the green specks swirled like the breeze brushing past forest leaves, and golden brown flaked in from the sides as though a deer was bounding aimlessly through the scene. His inky hair was tousled, giving the boy a delicate appearance. His pink lips parted and he sighed, the air coming out in a small puff of white.

He was sat on a cushion next to the big round window, overlooking the gardens of the manor. Every now and then a small breeze would slip through the crack between the window and brush past the child, making him pull the blanket wrapped around him even tighter. The boy held a cup of steaming hot chocolate in his little hands. It spread warmth throughout his fingers and travelled to the rest of his cold body.

He shuffled forward slowly, leaning his forehead against the cool surface of the library's window. The smell of books was overcome by the fresh smell of snow and flowers. The boy sniffled. He watched silently as two little boys, one younger and the other older than him, played together in the snow. They were squealing and running around having fun together. The four-year-old threw a snowball towards the six-year-old, giggling childishly and screaming when the older chased after him.

The five-year-old sitting quietly within the confines of the library walls smiled sadly. Another sigh left his mouth. As a pout slowly formed on his face, small crystal-like drops of water formed near the corners of his eyes. He blinked rapidly. Still, a tear slid down his cheek and dropped to the sill of the window. Wiping the tears away with the back of his pale hands, he put down his warm drink and curled himself even further into the blanket he held. A cute sneeze sounded throughout the library. Giggling, he leaned over and closed the window with a small 'click.'

The young child turned his head towards the large double doors of the library. Standing there with a frown on his face was a young teenager. He seemed to be searching for someone or something from the way his head continuously moved in different directions. The teenage boy wore a thin butler-like suit, with the cuffed white shirt and black tailored garb on top. He turned his head again and finally stopped. His eyes lit up with joy and a quiet sigh of relief left his rosy lips.

Hazelnut clashed with ocean blue. The fifteen year old took long strides to reach the young boy sitting beside the window. He crouched down to meet his level and smiled sweetly. The young boy slowly pulled his eyes away from those upturned lips and instead focused on those shining orbs of sapphire.

A long yet comfortable silence surrounded them. They stared at each other, speaking with their eyes and not their words. Conversations of joy and happiness flowed between them smoothly, and neither wanted to break this entrancing spell. Instead, the older offered his hand for the young boy to take. The younger frowned slightly before jumping out of his little cocoon of warmth and onto the teenager stood before him. He clung onto him tightly and buried his head into the crook of the elder's neck.

"Thank you…" the younger uttered against that smooth skin, before nodding off to sleep quickly since this body was much warmer than the meagre blanket he was using before. The teenager smiled down at the younger boy softly. Tucking him more securely into his arms, he walked into the middle of the library and lay down on the sofa with the child on top of him. Barely moments later and both were fast asleep, overjoyed in the knowledge that they still had each other whether others remembered them or not.
