"Samuel?" Hugh asked. Sam dropped his phone. "You've been awfully secretive with that thing lately, and damn near obsessed... you want to talk about something?" Samuel gulps. "It's fine- I mean, how's the case going?" He stuttered. Hughes looked at him with his ex ray eyes. "Well we don't really take these cases but since it's your in tell we have to watch it go down. Swat will come in the left and I'll make the arrest. You come down to the station and write up the reports." He explained. Sam nodded.
They waited for the Chisaka people to show up. They had their flight information they were now waiting to infiltrate their hotel room. Swat arrived and went straight in. Hugh came in after them and arrested them one by one. Sam, coming in behind him, looked in the briefcase and found the drugs. "He was telling the truth." He muttered. He was about to tag it for evidence and tell Hughes but he heard someone in the corridor.
A second later Yates came bursting through the door. "My jurisdiction!" He yelled with a group of forensics people. They took the case from Sam's hands much to his dismay. "What are you talking about?" Hughes bellowed. Yates squared up to him. "Mason provided the in tell therefore it's my jurisdiction." Hughes glared at him. "Samuel is my partner!" He said between gritted teeth. Yates put on a smug grin. "As long as he is on my mission, he is mine." Hugh looked at him like a mad man but stood aside nevertheless. "Sam down to the station now." Yates commanded. Samuel looked to Hughes. "No!" He snapped. Yates came up and grabbed him by the collar. "You either come down to assist with the case or I take you to interrogation to find out how exactly you gained this information." Sam gulped. Yates let go and Sam, getting Hughes' nod of approval, left to the station.
Daniel~
"I'm gonna be stuck at the station all night."
4:35
"Why????"
4:40
"Officer Yates just came in and stole our case.
I don't know when I'll be home even..."
4:41
He didn't reply. Sam shoved his phone in his pocket and slammed his arm against his desk. "Damn it!"
A DATE TO REMEMBER
The week had been painful for Sam. Yates had taken credit for taking down a new drug and Samuel had had to sit there and pretend to commend him. It had been awful. All that got him through the week was knowing he would see Daniel on Friday. They were going to a more casual restaurant but Sam knew he would still come in a suit and tie. Samuel was now staring into space until he got a tap on his shoulder. It was the Chief. "My office." He commanded. Sam sat there in shock as he watched the Chief return to his office. He thought he was going to be in trouble for spacing out, or being late yesterday, or.... existing!
"It's come to my attention you were the leader on the Chisaka drug bust case." He said looking Samuel dead in the eye. "Yates signed off on-"
"I don't give a damn who signed off on shit. Yates told you he would get you for how you got the information didn't he?" He yelled. Sam froze. "Yes." The Chief slammed the desk. "Bastard." He muttered. "Look Sam, we don't care how you get the information, especially in this line of work." He said in a softer tone. "All I care about is the right people getting the right credit." He explained. Sam nodded. "I'm changing the names on the report. If he does it again you come to me. He has a thing for doing this." Samuel was suddenly interested. "Doing this?"
"Yeah, he intimidates the new people into giving him the cases. He takes credit for everything." Sam nodded. "You can have a bonus. It's 6 so have a good evening and I'll see you on Monday." Sam's eyes went straight to the clock.
It was 6! He thanked the Chief a million times before grabbing his trench coat and a few files for home and running out the front door. He was going to go to the taxi rank but a familiar man stood outside the glass doors. "Daniel!" Sam yelled in alarm. He ran forward, dropping his files in the process. "You- police- they'll arrest you you idiot!" He yelled but Daniel rolled his eyes and took his face. He gave him a welcoming kiss and took his hand. Samuel looked around in shock and took a sigh of relief. One of the tall men from before, who's name Samuel found out was Jonathan was holding Sam's files and a woman in a black suit named Victoria was holding an umbrella in front of the cameras. Samuel smiled and looked back to Daniel and pulled him back for a needy kiss. Daniel was shocked but let the shorter man pull him closer. He wasn't sure if he wanted to kiss or use him as a shield from the rain though...
When they broke apart Daniel lead him into the back of a limousine. Victoria and Jonathan joined them. Sam had gotten used to their unthreatening presence and could relax. He lay down across the side seats with his head in Daniel's lap. Daniel stroked the sleepy blonde's hair. He had taken him to the most expensive hairdresser he could find. Now he had volumized long wavy bangs that would turn messy after an hour. Samuel didn't know how to thank him for everything but Daniel told him he earned it with the hard work he does. "I know I'm a good kisser but what's got you so happy today?" Sam rolled to the side so he was looking at Daniel. Those crystal blue eyes made Daniel's heart flutter once again. "I got a bonus and my name is now on the arrest report instead of Yates." He said beaming with joy. Daniel couldn't help but smile. "You deserve it." He commented and continued to stroke the younger mans hair.
Daniel looked up to see Johnathan going through Sam's files. He cleared his throat and glared at him. Jonathan slammed it shut with a trembling hand and gave it to Victoria for safe keeping.
When they arrived at the small Mexican restaurant it was empty as always. They actually owned it. Alpha three's job was to give the children or family of Thorn's members jobs that would add to the income of their families but also the Thorn's bank. Daniel as Alpha two would utilise it by having meetings at the best restaurants they owned around the world. Speaking of which, he had been in London for quite some time....
They sat away from the window behind a divider, at a round table with a classic red and white table cloth. The room was nice and warm, lit by a candle on each table, and the smell of pastries filled the air. "Two spaghetti cabanas, a bottle of your finest and a sprite." Daniel ordered for them. Sam blushed because he know to order sprite for him. Daniel looked at him and stroked his cheek. "What was it this time?" He inquired. Sam chuckled. "How did you know about the sprite." Daniel didn't know how to put it. "I... saw your credit card history..." instead of freaking out Samuel just rolled his eyes. "Of course you did."
"You drink an unholy amount." He commented. Samuel scoffed. "You go through three bottles of wine a day."
"But that's wine." He was suddenly alerted by his Betas. Victoria and Jonathan had been sitting a few tables away chatting but now they stood up and were making their way to the door that had chimed open. Danial looked to Samuel. "Stay here." He said, kissing Samuel on the cheek before going to look through the separator.
There stood Yates with a group of five policemen. "If you don't move out of our way we will arrest you for obstructing a police investigation." Yates yelled. Victoria came back to their table whilst Jonathan stalled. She grabbed Samuel's files she had left on the table and slipped them into her briefcase before going back to leave. Daniel ran back to the table. "Go underneath!" He whispered. "Underneath what?!"
"The table!"
Jonathan was arrested and they made their way to the back where Daniel sat, supposably alone. He told the other police officers to wait by the door whilst he came and sat opposite the professional criminal. Sam was freaking out. He sat with his back to Daniel's chair so he was sitting between his legs. Daniel reaches down and put a hand reassuringly on his shoulder. "So... Mr Hansen. We finally get to meet in person." Yates said. Daniel smirked. "Can't say I have the same pleasure." He said in his toneless business voice. Yates chuckled. "Why are you in London?"
"I live here."
"Where." Daniel sighed. "I don't tell strangers my address... sorry." Yates shuffled underneath Daniel's intense glare. "What's your name officer?" He spat. "Nathan Yates." Daniel noted it. "Oh I've heard of you." Yates smiled. "Yes I bet it's for all the arrests I've made of your people?" Samuel snickered so Daniel's hand quickly covered his mouth. "I've heard your a case stealer."
"To a criminal that would be a good thing to hear."
"I'm not a criminal."
Yates scoffed. "We already know who you are-"
"And I know who you are. You could get thrown out of a job if I cooperated with your people. I mean why chat here, let's go have a chat down at the station." He pretended to get up but Yates stopped him. "Wait! I'll find something on you Dan, I'll find something on you and that'll be the end of it, the end of you." He then got up and left in a huff.
"He's gone..." Daniel said thickly. Sam got rolled out from the table and looked down at him. Daniel was staring bullets into the back of Yates head as he left into the car with Jonathan. "Hey." Samuel murmured, pulling Daniel's face gently to his face. "Your Alpha two, he can't do anything." Daniel let out a breath of stress. "I didn't like his tone." Samuel smiled. "Well at least you don't have to see him on Monday." Daniel cringed at the thought. "Let's eat."
