Chapter 8

It was coming near to the end of Amariyah's second year at Linconson academy, and it was summertime. Amariyah loved this time of year because this was when the sun was more time beating, she was more happy and her birthday was coming up.

"It's a few weeks and a few days till my bday! Whoop whoop!" Amariyah squealed. "I know you're finally gonna be 13 you child" Niah said laughing. They was on their way to their science lesson. When they got situated in the class Amariyah was sitting next to this boy named Josh. She's known Josh the whole time she had been going to Linconson, but she only got closer to him since she went into their science class.

Amariyah and Josh were just joking around in the lesson, laughing and chasing each other. "You guys should date you know" Niah blurted out. "WHAT!" Both Amariyah and Josh said in unison. Amariyah gave Niah the death stare, wondering why would she say that. She never really looked at Josh that way, I mean yes she thought he was cute, but she just didn't go there. Josh had this weird ex called Kate. She was so obsessed with Josh that it annoyed everyone.

When Josh broke up with Kate, Amariyah was there for her giving her a shoulder to cry on. Kate was screaming down the school toilets yelling, "I LOVE HIM! I STILL LOVE HIM!" Amariyah didn't know what to say because she didn't know what love was. The only love she knew and had experienced was the love for her family, apart from that she was clueless.

"Josh you should hang out with us and see what Kate says" Niah said. Amariyah just looked at her. "What is wrong with you?" Amariyah said quietly but loud enough for only Niah to hear. Amariyah turned her head towards Josh, playfully rolling her eyes, " yea that should be fine Josh".

They all walked down to the hall to get their lunch, then soon headed to the lower playground. They were re-united with Ria, Mya, Charlotte, Lani and Anne. All of a sudden Niah told this girl, Ayani, to go tell Kate that Amariyah and Josh was dating. Amariyah's turned so quick she almost clicked her neck.

"How you gon' tell the girl I'm dating her ex?" Amariyah questioned kind of laughing. "You can make her jealous! This will be so funny" Niah said walking away to go tell Josh the plan. Whilst Niah was going, Amariyah sat down considering whether she should do this or not. "Why not?!", she said whilst getting up and started running towards Ria and josh conversating. Ayani came back over to Niah and Amariyah holding in her laugh. Once she got closer to them she let her laugh out, Amariyah and Niah just looked at each other with such confusion on their face. "Well tell us then!" The both said at the same time.

"She's jealous" Ayani said, "she said and I quote, " I don't care they can't do what they want"". Amariyah thought about what she said, and she thought this is going to be super funny.

It came to the end of lunch and Amariyah remembered that she had to go with her dad and "future stepmom" after school. He had recently come back into her life as he was getting married and their wedding was at the end of the week. Josh had walked up behind Amariyah scaring her. "Josh don't do that, next time I'll punch you" she said with a sarcastic smile. "What do you want anyway" she asked him. " I'm going to walk you to your lesson. Oh and Niah said to switch ties so it looks more realistic". Wow! Niah really was going all out Amariyah thought. They had got to Amariyah's English lesson and she was about to walk in, until Josh pulled her back by her arm and engulfed her into a hug...
