For the next two weeks, Amariyah was trying to figure out what she wanted to get for her mothers birthday which was on the 25th of June. Amina wasn't giving any ideas which only made it harder for Amariyah to decide. The only things that were coming to mind were stuff like perfume, a piece of jewellery and probably her favourite chocolate. Instead, Amina gave her daughter an idea that she couldn't refuse. She wanted the VIP ticket to see her favourite music artist, Jacquees. As Amariyah didn't have £25 to just buy it there and then, she took the idea to her aunty and they both agreed that Amariyah could put half of the money towards it. Even though they were getting her the ticket Amariyah felt like it wasn't enough.
"Mom are you sure you don't want anything else? It doesn't feel like enough to me" Amariyah frustratedly complained. "Yes Riyah, its more than enough. I don't understand why you keep going on about this, we've been through this many times baby, I'm very thankful." Amariyah walked away still unsure about the situation. In her mind she just felt as though her mom deserved more, you know? Having a single parent gave her a different perspective of life. She understood that not at all times you can easily depend and rely on people, sometimes, actually most times, if you want something done you have to do it yourself.
The night of the concert, Amina didn't not stop babbling on about how excited she was to see her "husband". "Oh my gosh, mom I get it...your obsessed. Your acting as if his music is all that, he's only got a few good songs. Other than that he just keeps "Queemixing" everyones songs!" Amariyah was slowing starting to regret getting her mom the ticket because she knew that's all she's going to hear about for the next month. Amina jerked her head back and gave her daughter a disgusted look but in a jokily way. "Your just a hater". At this point Amariyah started to burst out laughing, "Hating on what mother? His versions of OTHER peoples songs? Yea, no" She emphasised on the word other as that's all she basically saw and known him for.
When Amina came back home her mom constantly was bickering an about how amazing he was. Amariyah couldn't lie, he actually sounded the same live but she still didn't confide in him the way her mother did. She actually got into a upcoming artist named Brent Faiyaz. She just connected to his music and before she became obsessed she did often listen to his music but back then she didn't understand it the way she does now.
It was still the end of June meaning that the summer holidays were soon coming up. So Amariayh had time to socialise with her friends and have fun. But then she came to realisation that when she goes back to school she was going to find out her sets when she gets into year 9. She was super nervous as she never really felt academically smart. I mean she was in in high sets but that could change at any moment due to her behaviour and attitude. Amariyah also knew that she would have to work extra hard as she was going into a GCSE year annd then she woule have to pick her options. Even though she wanted to be with her friends, she wanted to pick options that suit her and would get her the career she wanted in the future. She was thinking definitely to take drame because when she first started secondary school and started drama classes she started grow a major passion for it.
All she wanted to do was relax and make her life more interesting but little did she know it was going to get more interesting than she though; and not in a good way.
