Chapter 14

Amariyah walked into school on her first day of year 9 very much calmly. She knew today wasn't a special day as she was only going to be in form. Overall, she knew that the next day finding out her sets was going to chew at her guts. She kind of thought that year 9 wasn't one of her crucial years but she also knew that it was basically the beginning of her GCSE year. Girls will be girls, this generally just means that females have quite feisty characteristics, always hating on girls just simply for their prettiness. Now although Amariyah wasn't quite fond of her own looks and body other girls envied her for those exact reasons.

Kayla, Manisha, Heather and Becky who Amariyah was once friends with, roamed around the school claiming that they're the "It" girls. Realistically they were the loud black girls with no hair, showing out the stereotype of the loud, ghetto black girls. That was something that Amariyah didn't like about them and that's why they fell out. Because they felt like they always had to be under the spotlight at all times and they basically did anything for clout. They stopped talking to Amariyah as she was still friends Ria and they had previously fell out. Amariyah started to not care as she was in year 9 and loved her current friends.

As soon as year 9 had started Niah and Anne had left that school to go one that had just been built. Amariyah already missed her best friend and was longing for her to come back but on the other hand she was happy that Niah was happy.

Amariyah and Nicki was walking out of her brothers primary school and out of nowhere she said, "Nicki I think I like Tyreese again". "Oh gosh Riyah not again!" Nicki exclaimed. Tyreese was a boy that Amariyah used to like but he was literally one of those "no good" boys. He occasionally hurt girls feelings and was a big time player. "Amariyah you cant fall for him again honestly. You know how bad he is" Amariyah knew this but Tyreese was they guy she would always have a soft spot for. "Yea i know Nicki but i cant help it, nothing can go further anyway you know my mom wont let me have a boyfriend." And that was the truth. Amina was strict when it came to her daughter and boyfriends. "Just watch out okay Riyah? I don't want you get hurt".

Three long days later, Nick and Amariyah was back in the primary school picking up Kyerowe and Nicki had some big news on her mind. She didn't really want to say anything as she didn't know how her best friend was going to react. "Amariyah I have something to tell you!", she finally blurted out. "Yea?" At this point she wasn't really bothered as she didn't believe that what she had to say was that interesting to be honest. "I think I like Tyreese..." Nicki told her. Amariyah's mind was racing. What had she just heard? Was it a prank? It must of been a prank because it could never be true. " You're joking right?" Amariyah asked kind of hurt. Because out of all people her best friend chose to like she chose her own friends crush.

Obviously Amariyah couldn't say much as there was nothing to say, she wasn't Tyreese's mother or keeper but she was just hurt by the fact her own friend did that to her. After Nicki told her that, her behaviour changed drastically and it made Amariyah become more distant and gravitate more toward Mya. Nicki had become just like her other friends Kayla and the rest of them and honestly it started to make Amariyah dislike her. It got to the point where she got fed up of Nicki disrespecting her, and just like that, their friendship ended.

It was a friendship that Amariyah missed, but she couldn't deal with all the negative energy and she just wanted to focus on school. Then to top it off her dad had stopped answering her calls. So every night Amariyah cried herself to sleep wondering where she had gone wrong in life. Wondering what she had done to always make her dad up and leave and stop talking to her for several ongoing months. It made her feel even more insecure because she felt as though she wasn't loved but at the end of the day she always knew she had her grandad who was basically her father figure growing up.
