That Someone (I)

11:58 A.M.

San Miguel's Hospital.

June 6th, the year 2018. Wednesday.

"I guess his full name is Xyrelle Martinez." Margo shifted her eyes towards Xian. She sighed, stroked her boyfriend's hair.

Katrina and Carmela froze in their places, standing still. They didn't want to believe that Xyrelle brought Xian over to the hospital after his accident. Carmela looked down and closed her eyes. She exhaled an enormous amount of air. When she looked up, she saw Margo was staring at her.

"Do you guys know him?" Margo asked them. Carmela and Katrina looked at each other. When Carmela tilted her head and answered Margo's question with a yes, the door burst open. The three of them checked who entered the room and saw that it was Manager Maci together with Manager Ines. Katrina and Carmela sat down on the long couch of the room while Manager Maci asked Margo what happened to Xian.

Meanwhile, Manager Ines observed Xian's body in a blink as she sat down beside Katrina.

"What happened to Xian, Margo?" Manager Maci questioned while Margo sighed exasperatedly.

She shook her head and muttered, "I don't know, Maci. The police called me, and they said that he got into an accident."

Carmela examined every gauze on Xian's body. The cast in his arm and the right leg. How deep was his wound underneath?

Carmela felt the guilt rising. The two of them had a huge argument earlier at Kelly's Diner. She felt she was the one to be blamed for Xian's accident.

"What happened to Xian?" Katrina whispered. Carmela looked at her and shrugged. A minute later, she tapped Katrina's arm and nodded at the door.

"What?"

"Let's go to the comfort room," Carmela voiced out. Katrina got confused for a moment, but when she realized Carmela needed some air, she agreed. Carmela stood up and talked to Margo for a minute.

"Go back huh?" Margo reminded them.

Carmela and Katrina nodded, and they left the hospital room. Carmela walked a little ahead of Katrina towards the comfort room that was at the end of the hallway. When they reach there, Katrina grabbed a hold of Carmela's arm. She closed the comfort room door and faced her. She fumbled for the doorknob and locked it. Carmela swallowed while still holding Katrina's gaze.

Katrina placed her Chanel bag on the sink counter and placed her hands on her waist.

"Why does it feel you don't want to be there?" Katrina trailed off.

Carmela didn't answer her and turned her back. She opened the sink, and the water started flowing. Carmela applied some liquid soap to her hands and washed it under the water. Katrina was still observing her. Carmela finished washing her hands and dried them under the heater. It made a loud gust of wind while Carmela was wagging her hands underneath it.

"Is it because of the presence of Xian in his bed or is it about Xyrelle who brought him there?" Katrina asked her, directly to the point.

Carmela locked her eyes with her and whispered, "I can't answer that."

"Why? Is there something you have been hiding from us?"

Carmela widened her eyes. She shook her head multiple times, denying that she had a secret to reveal. Katrina's question might hinder Carmela to hide things, like her relationship with Xyrelle. Katrina was trying to make her confess something out of her mind.

Carmela doesn't want to say that Hannah's biological father was Xyrelle. If she can hide it forever, she will. The only condition Abbe and she promised to each other was to confess it to his brother, but not to their friends.

'They can't know. They can't. This is a secret I've been holding for four years now. I don't want my tongue to betray me.' Carmela said in her thoughts, determined.

"I don't have any secrets, Katrina," Carmela lied to her.

Even if she had something to hide, Carmela thought it was for the best. For their friendship not to be over, for it not to break. Katrina narrowed her eyes, not wanting to break his gaze towards Carmela.

"Carmela," Katrina called her softly. Carmela looked straight into Katrina's eyes.

"We promised each other not to hide any secrets. I may forget the pledge, but I will hide nothing from you," Katrina unraveled. Carmela swallowed and lied again.

"I know that. I will never break it," Carmela lied and sighed. They scrutinized each other's eyes. Carmela knew what was happening in Katrina's mind. She can read everyone's thoughts by looking at the movement of their eyes. And also the way she expressed her emotions.

'She cannot read my mind. She cannot. Katrina knows nothing about it.' Carmela murmured in her subconscious.

"By looking at your eyes, I know you are hiding something from us," Katrina squinted her eyes. Carmela got baffled and still locked her gaze.
