it was 7pm when luna woke up from her nap. she didn't expect to sleep for that long. she gets up opens her window and sits on her bed. holding both her legs with her arms she stares outside. she could see the moon.
a soft breeze caresses her face and her hair as she stared at the moon.
it was as if the moon was stroking her gently. her moment of silence was hammered by a knock, her heart skipped a beat but settled after almost immediately, realising it's her mother. she doesn't turns around but feels footsteps approaching her. her mother sits beside her with a bowl of berries.
'sorry, that's the only thing kept in the fridge." her mother apologetically said.
"and that's my fault."
"i am sorry."
"don't be."
her mother knew luna didn't want to continue the conversation so she kept quiet.
"you know, i know why you and dad named me luna." luna said, breaking the silence between them.
her mother looks at her curiously.
"because i was meant to be alone."
she sighed.
"...flawed." she continued.
"i can really see the resemblance of the moon and me. i pity the moon but not more than i pity myself. "
luna didn't know why she was even talking to her mother but looking at the moon has always made her see how alike they both were. how lonely must the moon feel. how uncertain it looked, created by imperfections. the only thing separated the moon and luna was that she always thought that even despite the flaws the moon holds, it shines through all of them. it's beautiful in the way words can't describe, unlike her unpleasant, hateful, bitter appearance.
if she ever had a chance to change one thing about her, she'd change her entire existence.
"you're beautiful honey." her mother brings her back to reality.
her heart skips a beat as she hears such words. it's been a while someone called her anything nice, let alone being called beautiful. she was so unaware of the possibility that maybe, just maybe she might be beautiful that she let out a laugh, thinking her mother is joking.
her mother had no idea why she laughed but she kept quiet. she puts her hand on her head to caress her daughter's hair but luna moves it, indicating she doesn't like it. her mother doesn't insist.
"i hope one day you see who you ready are." with those words, she feels her mother's presence fading away.
luna gets lost in the words trying to understand what her mother means but when she realizes what her mother said, she turns around but it was too late, mum was gone. like the wind, like she never came.
once again, luna sighs and looks at the moon desperately, almost crying.
then she remembered something.
she saw kai today.
holy shit.
her heart skips a beat with a thought of him as she coughs and a petal falls again.
and he didn't even notice her.
