seven

past:

the alarm woke her up, its already been four months since the middle school started and her feelings for him. she makes her way to the washroom to freshen up when she feels a burning sensation, throbbing pain inside her chest, making it difficult to breathe.

she holds her chest and takes deep breaths, as she falls to her knees and punches her chest in order to breathe but it only made it worse. she inhales deeply and then exhales. she suffers but she repeats in order to breathe.

suddenly she coughed up and a petal fell, covered in a little blood.

and the pain went away, like it never happened in the first place.

she stared at the petal and picked it up, "what the hell?"

she shook her head, thinking maybe she swallowed one without even noticing last night as she proceeded with her daily routine.

"hey luna!" kai called out her name in the middle of lunch break in middle school.

"let's go play out after school." he continued after grabbing her attention.

"i.. i will be there." she replied back.

"okay!!" he gave her a thumbs up and ran away, hitting his friend on the back of his head, laughing.

"i seeee....." delilah, luna's friend teased her.

"wh-what?!" luna hesitantly asked as she stuffed her mouth with the bun she was eating.

"you like himm" delilah smirked mischievously.

"n-no! i-i don't!" luna defended herself.

all of a sudden she feels that throbbing pain again but only for a moment. she took deep breaths and it got okay.

"aww, cute little birdy is in love." delilah puts her face on her palms.

"no, he's just a friend."

After school they both walk out of the class.

"oh, come on. you're young and in love. confess to him. its been a while and don't you think i don't know how you look at him." delilah plotted an idea into luna's mind.

"shut up! i am not in love. i should go now. bye." she cleared her friend and makes her way to the playground.

thought of kai came running to her mind and that sudden pain and an urge to cough. she coughed and a petal fell down, again. she shook her head again, and stepped on it.

she felt a rush, should she let him know? delilah wasn't wrong, she might be in love but doesn't want to admit it. but what if she lets him know that she likes him. would he confess that he likes her too?

with that thought in mind, she makes her way down to the playground.

"dude why did you invite her?" she heard by the slide.

all of kai's friends were gathered there.

"what do you mean?" kai asked, puzzled.

"don't say you like her?" a friend asked kai.

"noo. why would i like her? she's not anywhere near my type." he laughed.

"then why called her?"

"she doesn't have much friends. i pity her."

i pity her.

pity was the word luna loathed. all her life shes been pitied because his father abandoned her because of her mother. every aunt living in neighborhood, looked her with pitied eyes,

'aww poor soul doesn't have a dad.'

'aww her mum doesnt take care of her'

'i pity how she grew up without her parents support.'

'be grateful son, you don't have a life like hers'

'that poor lamb suffering because of her mother.'

'i'd rather die than to live a life like hers.'

She walks away.

reaching home will all the overwhelming emotions she couldn't hold back.

"welcome, love." her mother greeted her with love but tired eyes.

she ignored her and sat down on the chair of the kitchen table.

"everything alright?" her mother asks, a bit concerned.

"i don't know. you tell me." luna smiles angrily at her mother, now tears rolling down.

her mother was shocked, "honey is everythi-" she tried to come close to her daughter but luna stands up.

"don't touch me. don't come near me!" she backs off, slowly walking away.

"honey just say what wrong." her mother, steps towards her, delicately.

"what's wrong?!" luna repeats her mother's words.

she opens the main gate and back walks outside for air as she felt like she would suffocate."

"i don't know mom you tell me! you tell me why dad left you! why he left me?!"

she keeps walking until she realized she's on the other side of the road.

"he wasn't a good man dear."

"why do i have to suffer because of you?!!" luna was enraged now.

"ju-just listen to me." she tried to make her daughter understand.

and her mum, standing in the middle of the road but they were too tensed to even notice but how much time it takes for a drunk truck driver to lose control and run over someone? not more than a moment.

and that moment changed her entire life.
