delilah's eyes widened when she saw kai, when she saw luna looking at him and her rushing to the washroom.
her hanahaki's back.
delilah has always been worried about luna. she wish she could heal her somehow but the sickness she suffers can only be completely healed by surgery. and luna can't afford one.
in lunch break luna, delilah and flora goes to their usual spot to have lunch.
"mum came home yesterday." luna told her friends, not even bothering to look at them as she continued stuffing her mouth with her lunch.
both pair of eyes widened as they both looked at her, surprised then in pity. how they both wished they could console her but luna wouldn't let them.
"she went away, again though." she continued.
there was a silence between them.
"you know what?!" flora remembered something while eating what her made packed for her.
luna and delilah looked at her with curiosity.
"yesterday i got to know something i never thought was true."
"my mother said that her sister died from a disease. she said it was hanahaki." she almost laughed from the disbelief.
luna's eyes widened for a nano second but settled herself soon enough as she proceeded to take a bite.
"can you believe it?! well i never believed hanahaki is true but she said that her sister was in love for like years and that man never loved her back. she said that her sister used to cough flower petals!" she continued.
"and she used to cry every night because of the pain. she said that she couldn't breathe. now can you believe that?! i mean it's just a myth. people don't die because of unrequited love!"
"they can." luna said with a serious expression and a hurting heart, not because of the flowers growing in her heart but because how she knew it was a truth.
there was a silence between them, delilah could sense the tension between the two girls. before it could get anymore serious delilah tried to ease them both up.
"any..anyway, it looks like it's gonna rain soon." delilah tried to change the topic while looking at the clear, blue sky.
"i will be back." luna snapped before getting up and walking, almost running away.
"hey delilah, she okay?" flora asked, confused.
"yeah, i think she misses her mom."
luna walked, full speed to who knows where until she collided and she fell. "ouch!" she rubbed her forehead.
"i am so sorr-" the voice said and how could luna not know who was it.
"luna?" kai gave her his hand.
she stood up without his help and smiled so lightly that kai was confused whether she did or not.
"i finally met you!!" he excitedly rejoiced.
"i was looking for you all over the school though." he continued.
" we're in the same class, kai." she quietly said, almost whispered.
"we are?" he confusingly asked.
"he has no idea." she thought.
his lack of knowledge told her how much he never cared. which made her cough again and she quickly turned her head in the other direction and caught the petals in her palm, closed it in a fist.
"i need to go." she put her head down and walked away.
"yeah.. see ya!" he waved from behind.
