"Excuse me," I ran down the bleachers, "can you point me to a bathroom?" I asked a janitor. He pointed to the left corner of the gym. I dipped my head and ran. Two taps and I found myself walking out to meet Ryder on the floor.
"Explain to us, please." Ryder asked the Principal. Well more like demanded.
I joined the group.
"Ah Princess, glad you showed up." He took my hand and kissed it.
"Not now Puppy." I teased then turned back to Mr. Stevens.
"Well..it's the biggest invasion we have ever seen. And these monsters..they are worse than you'd ever imagine." There was fear in his voice as he spoke. "They were last seen 45 miles away but apparently they like to move fas-" he was cut off by a loud bang. Students screamed and panicked.
"PLEASE STAY IN YOUR SEATS," Ryder shouted. He ran over to where the noise was coming from and I followed.
"Ryder.." I whispered, walking towards him, "this doesn't seem safe.." just as I finished that word, the wall broke down. I jumped back out of the rubbles path, covering my face from the dust. I failed to miss it all and revived cuts all over my body. It stung with every piercing.
Once it cleared I ran trying to find Ryder. I saw him struggle to get up and look around.
"RYDER!" I shouted trying to get his attention.
"RYDER!" I yelled as I got to the area he was at. I leaned down, helping him up. He stared at my cuts with fear in his eyes.
"What happened.." He asked, shaking as I helped him up.
"No time to explain. We have to help the students." He looked at me and nodded.
"Take them out the back. I will distract this one," I turned to run but he grabbed my wrist, "watch out for more and stay safe." He begged. Once again he looked sad.
"I will.."
I made it to the bleachers and helped direct kids to follow Mr. Stevens.
"Where are we going?" I yelled as I caught up with him.
"To my office. There are under ground bunkers all over the place for situations just like this one." I nodded and ran ahead.
"Clear!" People ran into the office.
I watched at he pulled a titleless book out from the shelve and it opened up to a dark tunnel.
"Everyone go!" I motioned. Students ran into it trying to save themselves.
"Dalian!" I turned to see Mrs. Stevens freaking out, "my baby! She's missing!"
"I'm sure she's already in there." I pushed Mrs. Stevens in the tunnel.
Once everyone was in we closed the path behind us.
"Wait..what about Ryder," I touched the exit. It didn't open.
"He will find a way," Mr. Stevens reassured me.
"No! What if he gets lost. Or killed." I started to bang on the door, "I have to help him."
Mr. Stevens grabbed me by my waist and lifted me up.
"You're a hero! Please act like one for the people. The scared ones and the hurt ones." I stopped thrashing and nodded. He set me back down and led me down the hall. The tunnel opened up to a bright room. In it there was the students all holding on to each other. Some were crying, some where comforting, some were silent and some where freaking out. I continued looking around the room.
There were many different other halls. Above each hall was a sign.
One said supplies, others said: rooms, laundry, kitchen, etc.
There was only one window. It was quite high up but I could jump up there with my powers. It had a ledge. An exit.
"Dalian," a man approached me, "allow me to fix the suit." I looked down and noticed it was all torn up.
"Oh yes please!" I smiled.
He took me to a room and held his hand out. I tapped my necklace twice. The glow appeared but my suit stayed in my hand.
"Here," I handed it to him.
"You should be more careful," he laughed a big to himself.
"Yes, I agree," I chimed. A few minutes later he handed me my suit. It looked as good as new. Two taps. And my suit was back. I thanked the man once again and left. The gym was still chaotic just like earlier.
"MY SWEET LIZZY!" I hear someone yell. I walked over to the yelling and it was Mr. Stevens holding a little girl in the air. He turned to Ryder, said something, then left. A wave of relief hit me. He's okay. I stepped up to him.
"And it's only the first day." I said softly. He nodded.
"The first day."
I watched him grab his side and take a sharp breath.
"Are you okay," I pulled him up to his feet.
"Peachy," he lied.
"You're lying!" I pulled his hand off of his side and there was a gash so deep.
"Those bastards." He muttered. I ripped the suit up some more to get a clear look.
"I'll fix it." I closed my eyes and put my hands around the gash. My vines acted as a stitch and covered his wound.
"I don't think.." He started but then the vines started to glow.
"What the.." He started in amazement.
"There..all better." I smiled at him.
"Thanks." He stood up and started to walk away.
"It's going to be sore!" I yelled after him and he waved back. I rolled my eyes. I sat down and watched everything happen.
I few minutes later, Ryder approached me. His suit had been fixed.
"I see he fixed yours as well," I laughed.
"You mean he.." He pointed at my suit, "he fixed yours too?"
"Sure did, Puppy."
"What are we going to do." He said that sad face of his. I put my hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him.
"We survive." He put his hand on mine and nodded.
"I do think we should have a meeting for the students to help them relax and calm down. Maybe help them understand the situation." I suggested.
"Good idea. I will go tell Stevens."
Around 9pm, they called for the announcement. This is where we tell everyone we will make it. I stood in front of everyone and said;
"Hello everyone. I am Dalian. This time may seem rough and hard but don't worry. We will fix this. And we will destroy every last one of them." Punched my fist in the air and everyone cried out. My body was trembling.
"This isn't my thing," I laughed at myself. Ryder stepped up to the microphone.
"Settle down." He demanded. Silence followed. He turned towards me, "Allow me Princess," He stood there, in front of everyone. Millions of eyes all waiting for him to give them a war cry. Instead he took a deep breathe and began his own speech.
As he spoke I felt my anxiety and fear give away. His words hit exactly where they needed to. I watched as his lips moved and how he informed everyone of the situation as if he were speaking to people who could destroy the monsters with one word. He was determined. Focused. Every syllable made my heart beat faster. I was on my toes listening to him.
"ARE YOU WITH ME?" He shouted. Everyone jumped up from the ground and were screaming. This was hope. Hope for a victory. Hope to survive.
"Way to go puppy." I smiled at him and he turned back to the crowd.
"So you're with me," He stared them all down, "Me and Dalian are your superiors. You will receive orders. You will fulfill your orders and you will repeat until you're dead. The number of these beings are uncertain. But we have one down." I took his hand, "WE WILL STAND VICTORIOUS IN THE END." I yelled firmly. People shouted his name, shouted my name. He looked at me and squeezed my hand.
"I took one down" he looked at the exit door.
"Yes..you handled one. But now we..now we," I looked down. What do we do now. His index finger lifted my chin up to look at him.
"Now we survive." He smiled.
