Kani's POV

Three month after Jason's interview

My name is Kani Cooper and your watching my life fall apart.

Anyways so, some things have happened and something's haven't.

For instance my dad's seafood shack is going up in sales and soon we'll be a seafood restaurant.

Something's that haven't happened are Jason.

It's been confirmed on the news and the phone calls that he hasn't answered are slowly starting to convince me, but I refuse to be believe that Jason won't be coming back until he's eighteen.

It's unthinkable.

I can't wait two years for a prince who's probably not going to be able to come back from 'running away' in the first place.

What am I even doing to myself?

Is this really what I want?

I want to tell you, but I don't know the answer myself.

Suddenly there was a loud knock on my door which startled me causing me to throw book the book I was reading across the room. The door slowly opened to reveal my older sister.

"Safari." I said, basically breathing out the words in relief."How do you feel? Are you okay? What's-"

"I'm fine it's just I'm a little tired that's all." I lied to her as I pushed my hair off my shoulders.

I wasn't tired.

She slowly walked over to me and sat next to me on the bed."I know things have gotten a little rough lately, but you haven't forgotten why he went in the first place right?" She asked looking at me with this unreadable expression.

How can I forget?

"He left so he could protect me, to protect us." I said as I raised my head to smile at her, but I couldn't help but feel guilty. He's going through this all by himself.

And I'm just sitting here hoping for the best.

"This is my mess too! And I want to fix it, want to help, but I can't, I really really can't." I yelled as I lowered my head.

I'm sorry, this is my mess too, and I can't even help you fix it.

I felt her lean in and place her arms around me.

As soon as I was in the hug I couldn't help, but let a few tears fall.

"I'm not okay." I said as I failed at silently crying.

"I know it's okay, it's okay." Safari said as she tried calm me down by rubbing my back in comfort.

"I miss him. I really don't want anything to happen to him. His mom, he's stuck there with her. It's her fault." I said angrily

She pulled away from me and looked me in my puffy red and watery eyes.

"Kani I don't care if he doesn't come back."

I looked at her in disbelief."Safari?"

"All that matters is that your safe. If I could go back in time I would make sure you've never met him. No matter how much we like to say it people aren't dumb Kani. Sooner or later their going to find the real reasons why he left and why he wants to go back so bad." She said as she held my shoulders. The pieces weren't connecting in my brain. I don't understand.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Sooner or later people will come after you. People don't like the fact that you are the one the prince is hung over. They won't like the fact that your a so called commoner. Fan girls will do anything to get you away from him." She said as she slowly loosened her grip on my shoulders and held my hands.

"Sooner or later this will turn into a life or death situation and right now the biggest event in history is occurring and your in the center of it and-"

"No one knows who I am except the Queen." I said finally catching on to what she was saying.

"Exactly, that's why my priority is keeping you safe. Eyes and ears will be everywhere. It's only the calm before the storm. This is going to be nothing after she hits." Safari said after getting up from the bed and leaving the room only to return with a ripped piece of newspaper.

"Her?" I said as she sat on the bed and scooted I closer to her.

"Yes, her, The Queen. If we don't stop the source her little minions will surely come and find us. Find all of us." Safari said as she showed me the piece of paper.

It was a picture of the Queen waving to the crowd.

"What are we supposed to do? I can't even get in contact with Jason and it's been three months. It's too quiet." I said as I studied the picture more.

"Like I said, the calm before the storm. All we can do now is hope Jason won't accidentally rat us out." Safari said as she looked at the picture again.

"Accidentally?"

"Yes, accidentally. Right now all we can do is see what happens. Keep watching the press conferences, keep your eyes open." Safari said looking up at me.

"Just see what happens." I repeated and flopped on my back on my bed.

We'll see what happens.

Aaron's POV

Luke's house

Monday

__________________________________________________________________________________

I stared at Kani with a shocked expression."People are after you?" I said as I started pacing around Luke's bedroom.

"With you pacing around like that it's hard for her to think." Luke said lazily as he tiredly rubbed his eyes and lied on his bed then put his arm over his eyes.

"This is insane." I said and finally stopped pacing room and sat on the floor.

"You think I don't know that? People are out to kill me. Everyone expects me to sit and wait while my family is in possible danger, you guys are in possible danger, and I'm in definite danger." Kani said as she spun around in the swivel chair.

"That's the best thing to do though. We just have to wait until he comes back-"

"Who comes back? You mean Jason? It's been confirmed. Haven't you heard? On the news? He isn't coming back." Kani said sternly and put her head down on the desk.

"Fine, what do you want to do then?" I said as I lied down on the floor and stared at the ceiling.

"I want to help."

"How are you going to help?"

"I'll..."
