Entering the Dark Canyon

Hugo jogged away from the chasing militia westwards.

Occasionally, he heard screeching from strange beasts and saw flickering forms of giant apes swinging in the branches above him. Although they noticed him, they kept their distance. His monarch realm aura was still useful for scaring away weaker beasts.

However, he knew that he was in a precarious situation. He had to enter the mysterious canyon before he attracted the attention of the beast kings or his pursuers caught up.

"How far are they from our position?" He asked Freya telepathically.

"They've reduced their speed of advance and are still about four miles behind us," the fairy replied. "I'm sure they'll begin moving faster as soon as they pick up your trail."

"That's great," Hugo said, wiping the sweat off his face with the back of his sleeve. "We'll lose them completely within the next ten minutes. The Dark Canyon is up ahead."
