His past (Part 2)

AUTHOR'S POV:

Pari narrated him till whatever she knows. Yuvi's face was blank, showed neither of the emotions. He just stared at her, not even at her but stared blankly. She thought he would express something but she was wrong. She couldn't figure out anything sadness or worry or any other.

" Yuvi, I am sorry. I know what you would have felt that time. I don't know how to convince you but, I promise you! I won't let you suffer anymore! I will surely reopen it and will try to prove you to the utmost level I can! It will be the last thing you lost in your life. Believe me! Will you?" She said, looking into his eyes which held nothing; blank, just blank. He didn't say a word. She asked him like asking a kid but, he didn't answer.

That made her frightened; he was staring blankly, answering nothing.

"Yuvi, don't you believe me?" She asked him again.

No answer.

"Yuvi! Say something. You are scaring me!" She shook him again.

He tilted his head, followed by a bitter laugh.

"Yuvi, what happened? Why are you laughing bitterly? Don't you believe me?" She asked as she thought he laughed at her words.

"No! I believe you; I trust you even more than myself. But here it's not you but my fate. It just fucked up my life!" He said between his gritted teeth.

"You trust me, right? Then hear this, it will be the last thing you lost in your life!" She repeated herself.

He gave her a mirthless smile and pecked her forehead.

"It's not the last thing I lost in my life! Which is more than anything to me!" He said, and a lone tear escaped his eyes.

"What are you saying?" Pari asked him, not understanding what he is trying to say.

"There is something Sid didn't say. Which made my life melt in guilt! The guilt which is eating me everyday" He squeezed his eyes shut, and tears fell down on his cheeks.

"He said something but didn't disclose it, saying that it is not his place to reveal." She said, looking at him concerned.

He couldn't speak the emotions gushed over him. A lump formed in his throat, he couldn't swallow it.

He tried controlling his emotions.

"Yuvi, you know! We are not different; there is no you and me here, it's just we, us!" She said he nodded his head up and down.

"Then, please don't control your emotions. Controlling emotions doesn't mean you are strong and remember crying will never make a man weak especially, in front of your wife." She said, giving pressure to each word.

"I know!" As soon as the left word left his trembling lips, he broke. He broke in a sob.

He sobbed, curling like a baby. He buried his face in her chest and cried.

Tears escaped from her welled eyes, she couldn't take this. Seeing her husband in the most vulnerable state; as an emotional mess; fully broken, crying like a small child.

She hugged him tightly. She tried soothing him with her sweet nothings.

But nothing worked out.

Even after crying for half an hour, he didn't stop crying.

She lifted his chin and kissed his forehead; her lips lingering there for more than a minute.

She wiped his tears.

"I lost her Pari, I lost her!" He sobbed hard.

"They killed her in front of my eyes!"

"She was soaking in her own blood!"

"She screamed for her dignity"

"They raped her in front of my eyes"

"But I was helpless, I couldn't save her!"

"I lost the precious person in my life!"

"Why? Why her?"

He was saying in between his sobs.

"Who Yuvi? Who are you mentioning? Killed in front of yours? Raped?" Pari asked.

A lot of thoughts clouded her mind, who he lost? Lover? or Friend? or Family? She didn't know whom to pity him or her.

"Who is that Yuvi?" She asked again.

"My sister!" He sobbed hard, harder than already he was.

"My elder sister Mithra!"

"What?" She was taken aback by the revelation.

"Whenever someone calls me by my full name, I miss her. I miss her badly!" He was shaking now.

"She was more of a mother to me. She gave me everything; everything I wished for! Even before I ask! But what did I give her as a brother?"

"I gave her nothing, I couldn't even save her dignity"

"Why? Why did she die, leaving me behind?"

"Her smile! You know she smiled even at the verge of her life"

"MITHRA" He screamed her name.

He looked like a mad, his face filled with many emotions sorrow, helplessness, fright, rage.

"Yuvi, Please!" She was weak to see him in that state, she hugged him tightly.

Sorrow filled their souls.

"Yuvi, that's enough! I can't bear it anymore! Tell me what happened?" She said, still hugging her.

"They killed her!"

"Who? Why? When?"

"I don't know anything but they killed her because of me! Because of me!"

"Yuvi, please tell me clearly. I am not getting you!"

" My elder sister Mithra. She was a journalist; she worked for a news channel. She was my best friend and I was her everything! There was not a day she missed ruffling my hair; not a second missed to love me."

"How and when did she die? She asked softly, looking at him; who was now staring at the ceiling.

"She died exactly one after the drug incident, they killed her!"

"Why did they kill her?"

"After the drug incident, she promised me that she will prove me innocent. She worked for that, she didn't tell me anything but, the only thing she said to me was

"Between the devil and the deep blue sea"

this was her last words about the case."

"If you can, please detail it to me. Everything!"

" After that incident, I was broken. I couldn't prove myself as innocent. My dad did everything to save my name and he succeeded in that. None except my family, Sid, and the committee knows this. Mithra pledged to prove my innocence and expose the culprit."

" She did everything, she started collecting many sherds of evidence, I don't know-how, she will just say "Your sister knows how to prove you!" this was the thing she kept saying whenever I ask what she is doing"

"First she started it for me but later she concentrated on that like mad, I didn't know what she was doing; I failed in understanding her; she won't allow me to involve in the matters; she was successful in doing that, till now I couldn't find anything."

"Yuvi, tell everything about her and about that day"

"She was a chirpy girl, five years older to me. She had a great power of observances. She won't let anyone invade her room even me. She herself will do everything and even mom won't enter her room."

"That's why everything went as a secret with herself"

"She--"

*Ring ~ Ring*

A call interrupted them she tried to ignore it but he insisted to attend"

It was her dad.

"Hello! Dad?"

"Pari! An emergency come soon!"

"What happened, dad? Are you alright?"

"I am fine but Karthick is not! We are taking him to the same hospital; come as soon as possible"
