Isn't This A Bit Rushed?

After that, Brat and Adam did what they were supposed to do: Buy groceries. Adam accompanied Brat to some form of farmer's market and watched Brat pick out several strange ingredients that looked like green meat and red vegetables. Once finished, Brat took Adam back to the camp where Fortis was waiting for them.

"Welcome back! Did you guys have fun?" [Fortis]

Adam shrugged.

"A bit." [Adam]

"It seems a little more than just a bit." [Fortis]

He eyed the collar on Adam.

"Oh, this? I got it for free or something." [Adam]

"Was it? By whom?" [Fortis]

"Brat." [Adam]

"Brat? Fuhahaha!" [Fortis]

Fortis' voice boomed with laughter.

"The vendor gave it to him! It's a misunderstanding!" [Brat]

"On your behalf?" [Adam]

"FUHAHAHA!!!" [Fortis]

He appeared to find that funnier.

"Fortis! Stop laughing!" [Brat]

Fortis struggled to contain himself, but managed to do it. After several deep breaths, Fortis summoned a bit of water and took a sip.

"It's a shame." [Fortis]

"What is?" [Adam]

"If Brat had truly given it to you, we'd have a happy couple already." [Fortis]

Adam didn't know what to say to that.

"...By any chance does this collar have to do with anything related to romance?" [Adam]

"It does." [Fortis]

"Should I take it off?" [Adam]

"If you choose to." [Fortis]

"That doesn't exactly answer my question." [Adam]

"That is fine." [Fortis]

Adam put two and two together and assumed the collar was something like an engagement ring.

"Putting such things aside, we have new training for you." [Fortis]

"What kind? Is it the get-beat-up kind or the figure-things-out-yourself kind." [Adam]

"I don't know. Va'al came by to inform me Felix has finished reading through all the history books and is now ready for combat." [Fortis]

"Oh, so he's joining us?" [Adam]

"No, YOU'RE joining him." [Forits]

"I don't get it." [Adam]

Fortis scratched his chin.

"How do I explain this… You know how there are multiple worlds, yes?" [Fortis]

"Scientifically speaking, yes." [Adam]

"That means there are many dimensions." [Fortis]

"Wait, I feel like you're skipping over too many details here." [Adam]

"In other words, I'm throwing you and Felix into a different world in a different dimension with different physical laws." [Fortis]

"...Okay, I'm lost." [Adam]

Fortis pondered a bit more.

"It's like a… What did my lord call it again…? Video games? Yes, a video game. Go and defeat the supreme demon lord or something like that." [Fortis]

"Are you even listening to me?" [Adam]

"Well, Va'al can tell you when you get there." [Fortis]

Ignoring Adam's words, Fortis grabbed the boy by the collar and chucked him into the sky.

("Ah, here we go again.") [Adam]

He soon found himself soaring through the air, approaching the castle Felix was residing in at high speeds.

("This is going to hurt.") [Adam]

Adam closed his eyes expecting to hit the castle's stone walls. Surprisingly, nothing happened.

"How uncouth." [???]

A familiar voice rang out beside Adam, causing him to open his eyes.

"...Va'al?" [Adam]

"Correct." [Va'al]

Adam looked around, finding that they were simply floating. Va'al wasn't even touching Adam to hold him up. They were simply just in the air.

"It's time for the training." [Va'al]

With a wave of his hand, Felix appeared as well.

"Huh?" [Felix]

Glancing around, Felix was stunned to see that they were floating.

"What's going on?" [Felix]

"Training." [Va'al]

Snapping his fingers, a rift appeared behind the two.

"Off you go." [Va'al]

With a gentle shove, Adam and Felix entered the rift.
