Erik Saves the Day

In response to Erik's words, the old man held his sword with both hands and gripped his sword so hard that his forearms were visible even with the loose clothing he had on. The moment this happened, the sword was enveloped with a cold aura and started to freeze.

The icy aura was so cold that the sword itself started to crystalize with ice and frost spreading across the blade.

As soon as the sword was completely covered in ice, a wave of visible teal energy erupted from him.

"Nuckelavee posture!"

Even Leon who was not even near the alley could feel a rush of cold wind bite at his face.

Erik merely grunted as he continued to move forward without even faltering for a second.

"What an annoying bug, die."

Sensing the impending attack, the old man decided there was no chance for winning or surviving, so he used all of his energy and even used his life force to fuel his attack.

"While I might not be extremely blessed or powerful, I will deal a grave injury to you! Don't look down on me just because you are stronger, the Nuckelavee is a mythical beast stronger than all of us! Nuckelavee breath!"

The old man pounced forward and used his blade as a medium for the magic that was embedded with all of his energy. The air around the blade was so cold, that whenever it moved it made a crackling noise as the air froze around it instantaneously.

Within a split second, the old man had closed the distance and laughed maniacally as he lost all sense of reason as whatever beast bestowed him with power started to corrupt him.

"DIE!DiE!"

With just a simple slash, a wave as tall as a house erupted from where the blade slashed and it surged forward consuming everything that found itself in its path. Erik was no exception as even at his immense size, the ice covered his entire body and much more around him.

The old man had a smile on his face as he started to age visibly, with wrinkles and crevices appearing all over his face and body due to the energy he sacrificed. With his momentum still carrying him forward, Leon was afraid the old man would come over to where he was and finish him off.

However his worries were not achieved, the moment the old man took a step forward. The giant blob of ice started to emit a loud crunching sound as cracks spread throughout the entire form like a huge spider web.

With a loud shattering sound like a glass ball being dropped from high up in the air, the entire ice structure came crumbling down.

Erik who's muscles were bulging and caused the ice breakthrough sheer force of his muscles merely cracked his knuckles.

"Child's play."

Even though the old man had lost his reason, he still felt fear from whatever form of consciousness was left him. As he was about to let out a scream, the ground underneath Erik broke as his legs muscles contracted and blasted off like a rocket.

In just a moment Erik had maneuvered his now almost 2.5-meter tall body within an arms distance of the old man, he had a long wind up that looked like it came out of a comic, but the power behind the punch was so strong that the ground could not take it and a crater was formed even on the tough ground in the city.

Erik started to walk back to Leon and by the time he reached Leon, he had returned to his normal height and size of 2.3 meters.

"Are you okay? You are not hurt anywhere right?"

Leon took his hand and was pulled so he was standing.

"No, I am all fine."

By then the boy who looked like a teenager had already gotten up and approached the two adventurers, the moment he got close he bowed.

"Thank you kind adventurers for saving me!"

Erik gave a hearty laugh.

"It really was no problem, but if you want to thank someone..."

He slapped Leon on the back.

"You should thank him, if he didn't come to your rescue, I might have never had found and saved you."

The boy bowed, but this time he faced Leon directly.

"Thank you once again, please let me treat you, two gentlemen, today. You guys look like visitors and I would be honored to extend lodging and food to my saviors."

Leon who was badly beaten and had a new giant handprint on his back from Erik's slap looked a bit shy.

"You really don't have to do such a thing, um.... what is your name?"

The boy had finally stopped bowing and stood straight up and looked into the eyes of Leon.

"No, I must insist you allow me to treat you. If you don't it would be a dishonor to you and myself. Also my name is Amancio Medici."

Leon had finally seen the boy in his full posture and noticed that he was quite tall and even matched himself in height, which not many people in the world could do. He also took note of the boy's dirty blonde hair.

While Leon was observing the boy, Erik had already a look of shock on his face.

"Did you say your last name was Medici?"

The boy looked a bit embarrassed.

"Ah, I see you have heard of my father then. Yes, my last name is Medici and yes my father is THAT Medici."

Erik looked pleasantly surprised at the boy's answer, while Leon looked confused and had to ask.

"Ummm, sorry but what is so important about the name Medici?"

Erik and the boy looked at Leon in surprise, which made Erik speak first.

"You don't know the Medici family?"

Leon shook his head confirming that he had no clue or idea.

Erik continued.

"They are only one of the biggest trading merchants in Orsini and the whole country."
