Swamps in Silce (2)

Six beasts charged at Raging Bull and the rest started to run at the other warriors who had made it to land.

Leon was one of the closest to the water so one of the beasts charged at him. The speed was quite astonishing and the jaws that had enough force to bend metal chomped down.

He barely managed to twist his body sideways that he could feel the subtle heat given off by the beast's skin.

Seeing the beast miss, Leon pulled out Ensis and swung at the beast's body. As Ensis and the scales collided, a screeching noise that would make a person cover their ears vibrated through the air.

Without hesitation, Leon instantly stepped back and glanced at where he had hit the beast and noticed that the scales were scratched, but he had not been able to break its scales.

This was shocking and meant that the beast was most likely at least equivalent to a low C-Tier adventurer.

Leon made this solely based on the fact that his attack did minimal damage, but his conclusion wasn't without reason.

He estimated that with his newly minted strength and body transformation that he could at least make a cut, even if it was the size of a papercut, into a beast that focused primarily on defense at the pinnacle of D-Tier.

But after taking a look at the mouth full of teethes that could most likely eat through normal steel and the bite power to back it up, he didn't think that the beast focused primarily on defense.

However Leon wasn't disheartened, he wanted to try one last thing and activated his Wind's Edge ability.

Once again the familiar sight of wind that started to rotate like a chainsaw appeared on Leon's blade and he stared at the beast who also looked at him with its neon green eyes.

Without any warning, he roared and used his dash ability along with his innate speed to close the distance between himself and the beast.

The beast wasn't going to let Leon get a free hit in so it opened its mouth and snapped at his leg. Fortunately, Leon dodged the bite and swung his blade once again at the beast's body.

The moment Ensis collided with the scales of the beast. Leon knew that this time would be different. The last time he hit the beast, it felt like he was trying to hit a solid steel wall with a plastic knife.

This time, however, it felt like the solid wall had turned into a tree and with the continuous force of the wind grinding down and weakening the black scales.

He felt something much softer and tender compared to the scale just as he heard the beast roar.

Feeling the sword cut into his side, the beast roared as the bright green blood flowed from his wound.

Although the cut hadn't made it past the dense and thick muscles of the beast, Leon was still happy with being able to cut past the scales and a tiny bit through the flesh of the beast, since he knew the beast was something he previously would've never been able to injure.

In fact, he thought if it was just him and the beast that he stood a chance to win the fight, though it would be long and arduous.

Just as he was planning to take another swing at it, he heard a familiar voice that stood next to him.

"Not bad. Considering you seem quite young, that wasn't too shabby at all. But since we are pressed on time, I'll finish this up."

Leon stared at Crushing Fang who just strolled casually towards the beast. Sensing a human casual stroll toward it, the beast was angered and roared loudly before it lunged at Crushing Fang.

However before it reached Crushing Fang, it seemed to have learned from its encounter with Leon and used its spiky tail instead of its jaw to attack, since its tail was more flexible and he could move it if its prey decided to dodge.

Crushing Fang found the change in tactics cute, but pitiable, and like lightning, he appeared on the opposite side of the beast and with a simple slash with his two-sided heavy axe.

The beast was cut in half through its body, while the cut itself was so clean that the scales didn't even offer any sort of resistance to Crushing Fang's attack.

Seeing that the beast was so weak, Crushing Fang could only sigh.

"How unfortunate, I was hoping to at least fight something to warm up a little."

Meanwhile, Leon gawked at the display of dominance and thought only one thing.

'Powerful!'

Leon had been already told that Crushing Fang was at least on par with Erik, so taking care of a beast like that would be as easy as blinking. However, after experiencing the toughness of the scales himself, he was still in awe of his power.

No longer fighting, Leon got to look around himself to examine what was going on and what he saw shocked him.

Already backing up onto land, Raging Bull and Little Lighting seemed to have killed the six beasts that initially attacked them as their bodies floated in the water while a bright green hue stained the river.

But that wasn't even the most shocking part, everywhere around himself Leon could see that the fifty elite warriors had easily slaughtered the beasts, and the body count in the hundreds seemed to indicate that even more beasts had attacked from the river since he had been fighting.

Only Aurora and two warriors who stood next to her weren't fighting as they just stood further inland watching everything.

On a dirt beach stained with bright green blood, the warriors didn't even seem to break a sweat and that attested to how powerful each warrior from the elite squad was.

If Leon had to guess, he would say that all the warriors had to at least be somewhere within the B-Tier.

It would take perhaps an army of himself to take on the hundreds of beasts they had killed, but the warriors didn't even look pumped and some looked like they were bored.

They looked into the water and saw more shadows, but weren't too hopeful about killing beasts that were weak in comparison to them.

But then as the shadows got closer, they could easily tell that the beasts were at least double the size of the previous ones with some being even triple or quadruple the size and they were gray now instead of black.

Yet that wasn't what made them too hopeful, a loud roar slammed into Leon's eardrums as he saw a whitish-gray beast come out of the water, but the color wasn't what made him shocked.

The beast was so huge that Leon had to make sure his vision was right!
