CH 16: Sentinels

Jason's mom and Lorna's parents walked the two out of the school before heading back to work. They agreed on letting the pair head back to the Kims' place for the day and Lorna could go home afterward.

The pair went a few places first before they made it home without any issues. By the time the got back, it was close to noon.

Jason and Lorna went to the kitchen to make lunch and were planning on heading to their own rooms to take a nap but before they could finish their meal, an explosion hit the house.

Jason and Lorna flew through the air and landed outside the house. Both were injured and in pain. When Jason looked up, he saw 3 large robots. All of them looked damaged in some way and one was even missing an arm. The least damaged robot was pointing a hand, that had a glowing orb in the center, at the house.

Jason tried to get up but felt a large amount of pain in his left arm. When he looked down at it, it saw the done sticking out. He heard Lorna groan and turned to look at her. He saw that she had a few pieces of metal on the left side of her body but she was slowly pushing/pulling them out.

"That hurt. You ok?"

Jason nodded. He focused on his command seal and had a card appear in his hand.

"Yeah, I'm good. I think my left arm might be broken. How about you?"

"Riddled with shrapnel and in pain pulling them out my arm and leg. Afraid of taking them out of any other place."

The duo who were trying to make light of the fact that they almost got killed. The pair noticed the robots turned their attention to them while pointing their hands at the teens who could not get off the ground.

"Mutants found. Powers in use. Lethal force authorized."

Just when Jason was about to crush Lancer's card, a large red beam shot the robot in the lead. The blast was able to knock the machine off its feet and to the ground. The other two were not stopped before they fired off yellow energy blasts. Before the blasts could hit, a figure appeared before Jason and Lorna wielding a spear.

Lancer took both blasts head-on and was barely pushed back before dispersing the remaining energy. She then charged forwarded before piercing through the chest of the robot in the lead and taking it down with a single blow.

She then threw her lance through the head of the robot on the left which pierced through and caused it to shut down. She then used the body of the first robot as a springboard to launch herself against the last one. Using her two blades, she tore into its chest and ripped it apart from the inside.

Jason let out a breath of relief when he saw Lancer take down the others so effortlessly. He gave her the telepathic command to stay on her guard. He was not sure who fired the red beam that bought him half a second. Soon, 5 groups of people arrived.

The first and second were the ones Jason was familiar with. They were the Fantastic 4 and the Avengers respectively. His mother often assisted and worked with both groups. The fantastic 4 was wearing their famous uniform. He had even been to the Avengers mansion before when she was dropping off some classified intel.

'They are most likely here since it is mom's house.'

The third and fourth groups, Jason also recognized but he did not know them personally. Just what he saw of them on TV. They were the X-Men and the Brotherhood. The X-Men were wearing uniforms that were blue and yellow while the Brotherhood was much more diverse in their clothing.

'And they are here for the mutant killing robot then.'

In the last group, he did not recognize any of them. None wore a uniform but most of them had some type of face paint on them.

'They are here for... well I'm just not sure what they are here for.'

Jason was not too worried though. He had two more cards in his hands and was ready to use them if he needed it. He also had Lancer stay in her defensive position and ready for a fight. Jason made his way toward Lorna and helped her take out the wooden pieces inside of her while she dealt with the metal ones.

The other's arrived swiftly to see the little girl wielding a large spear and that was armed to the teeth who was watching over the two injured teens. Sue and one of the X-Men made their way over to the pair and Jason gave the mental command to let them pass.

Both tried to give the pair some basic first aid with the medical supplies they had on hand but they could do nothing more than stop the lighter wounds from bleeding and slow down the bleeding of the deeper or more serious wounds.

Everyone began eyeing the other's warily and wondering what they were there for. But when Magneto saw that his daughter was one of the two victims, he spoke up first.

"These Sentinels built by humans have caused harm not only to innocent mutants but even attacked them in their own home by surprise. Worst for you, they dared to attack my daughter. The Avengers work for the government. I expect an explanation for what is going on."

The famous Professor X sat in his wheelchair and nodded. He knew just how dangerous that situation would have been if the 3 children in front of them were not strong enough to protect themselves.

A man wearing a trenchcoat walked out from Magneto's Brotherhood members and pointed his staff at lancer before speaking in a creole accent.

"Pretty little thing, be careful with that spear. You might hurt yourself."

Lancer seemed to freeze for a moment. Then she turned to look at Jason as if warning him of what she was about to do. Before Jason could stop her with his command seals, the girl turned into a blur and before reappearing where the man was.

But as she stood there with the butt of her spear pointing at where the man was, his body had disappeared. There was a cloud of smoke 20 meters away that seemed to have a humanoid figure on the ground.
