The other's nodded at Jason's name. Each of them took on a name that reflected their true selves. A few might have thought Jason's name was a bit rebellious and arrogant, but that was exactly the style of the Neo.
"Good. From now on, that is what you shall be called when you are with us Neo. Your human name means nothing here. Understood?"
Ruler nodded at Domina's words. He figured it was the same as working for any other organization. Each had their own rules and titles used within them.
"Good. Now, with your diverse power set, there are two clans that you would fit in to but you shall have the choice between any of us. The clans that suit you the most are either the Warclan or the Guardian clan.
The Warclan's main task is hunting down enemies of the Neo. We are tied for the most powerful clan in combat-related abilities. We are the clan that interacts the most with the outside world.
The Guardian Clan focuses on protecting Neo. If, somehow, a clan is found and being attacked, it is the Guardian Clan's duty to assist them. They are also tied with my Warclan for the most powerful clan in combat-related abilities.
As for the other clans, I can give you a short summary. The Mind Clan and Spirit Clan work as our intelligence gathering divisions. They keep us informed over any potential enemies or threats that need to be dealt with.
The Lost Souls are masters of using emotions to boost themselves or weaken their enemies. We mainly deploy them against telepaths or magic users who rely on stable emotions to battle properly. The last are the Shockwave riders. They are our tech specialists.
Besides everyone present here, there are many other Neo who are not as involved in the clans' matters. They are apart of clans but are not required to go on missions due to their lack of offensive or stable powers.
With you included, our numbers are a bit over 200 with the 57 present here being our elite. Please take a moment to pick which clan you wish to be apart of."
Ruler took a moment to think over his options. If it was before the trials, he would have chosen neither the Guardian clan or the Warclan. He would not have even chosen to join the Neo. He had heard of powerful beings such as Odin, Thor, and Galactus but always thought that their strength was exaggerated. But after seeing what Bast could do, create an entire afterlife as well allow the living to temporarily go there and create trials as well, it made Ruler see just how large the universe really was.
'While it may have been fun in there, I never want to be under the thumb of another that easily. Bast could have killed me with a single thought. So if all the other gods out there are real, I can't just wait around and be careless.'
He instantly decided to join neither of the 4 weaker or noncombat focused clans but instead one of the two who were tied as the most powerful. The only question he needed to ask himself was, 'Am I a warrior or a defender?' Having made up his mind, Ruler knew where he wanted to go.
"I wish to join the Warclan," Ruler stated with a slight bow. HE chose the Warclan for the simple reasoning of being more active and not having to sit around as much. While the other clan may have been just as powerful, that had to be an exaggeration. The people who go take out the targets constantly had to be more powerful or at least have more combat experience.
Domina had a large smile on her face while the other clan leaders looked disappointed. After hearing Ruler's words, the rest congratulated Domina and the Warclan before leaving. Domina also ordered for the rest of her Warclan to her Warclan to leave as well.
Now, it was only Ruler and the grey-skinned, purple-haired leader of the Warclan. The woman did not say a word and neither did Ruler. He did not know what to say at the moment so just kept quiet.
"Our clan is needed now more than ever. We used to number over 10 times our current numbers. But with how chaotic modern times have become, we have lost many of our people with the so-called mutant cures."
Domina had a sad look in her eyes while she spoke. Ruler did not interrupt and juts listened.
"I had a daughter before. She was a mischievous little thing who would always sneak out of the clan. That beautiful little girl who's mutation allowed her to breathe underwater as well as excellent vision from it.
One day, she snuck out and was swimming near a location where the X-men were battling one of their enemies. She must have thought it was interesting and decided to watch. But when a stray shot from a battle made her lose her powers while she was deep underwater. Before she could surface, my baby girl drowned.
I will never allow for a child of the Neo to be lost like that again. By becoming a member of my clan, I expect you to also ensure this. Can you?"
Ruler nodded at Domina's words. Seeing him agree, Domina pulled out a knife and cut her palm before cutting Ruler's. She then gripped his fresh cut with hers.
Jason felt something leave him and enter him through his palm at the same time before he felt a connection with Domina. Before he could ask what the connection was, he saw her demonstrate it.
Domina grew scaled, dragon-like wings similar to Ruler except that they were purple and larger. They were at least 3 times the size of Ruler and so each wing seemed to be about 3 times her height in length. She also grew a tail but hers was dragon-like while Ruler's was more like a demon. It was scaled and sharp. It seemed more like a weapon than an extra limb. The tail was also larger than Ruler's as it was nearly 3 meters long naturally.
"Hmm. So that's the power of your that I have gained. As a clan leader, I gain access to one of the powers each of my clan members have. That means that sometimes I gain their physical abilities or sometimes I gain their unique powers. And apparently of you, I got your extra limbs."
Domina let out a small smile before flapping her huge wings and rising into the air in the conference hall. The Neo let out a warrior's cry before descending.
