Chapter Three

Reina sat in her seat, waiting for Jess to come walking in again. When it didn't happen, she was overjoyed. "I... Think I got out of it today..."

It wasn't until almost ten o'clock at night that Jess came. Reina's day shattered. She went out to meet Jess, and muttered, "I really want to do without fighting tonight, if you don't mind."

Jess shrugged. "Didn't plan on it. In fact, I came late because I didn't want to fight. I brought dinner, if you want."

Reina shrugged. "I suppose I'm down for something to eat."

Jess had brought a bag with some chicken and rice, a Chinese dish for an Earthling. Reina smiled. "How'd you know?"

Jess smiled. "Do you not know who my brother is?"

Reina raised her eyebrows. "Probably also a perv?"

     "Jeffery Stills."

Reina spit her drink away from the food. "THE JEFF STILLS?!"

Jess nodded. "Yep. Your absolute equal."

     Reina laughed. "Whoa, that's crazy."

Jess shrugged. "You can always be my girlfriend."

Reina, confused, said, "Where in the hell did that comment come from?"

Jess shrugged. "I mean, I can always find someone else. But... You are worth visiting each day..."

Reina sighed, ignoring Jess for her sanity. "That's cool that you're related to Jeff, but you aren't even close to on par with him."

Jess laughed. "Of course I am. I just want to spare your beautiful face, so that you can keep being beautiful forever."

Reina let her head fall, smashing through the table. "Stooooop!"

Jess looked down. "Bad night for flirting?"

Reina nodded, scraping her face across the table. Jess lifted her head slowly. "Your face, Reina," Jess said. "Stay beautiful."

Reina rolled her eyes. "Let go."

     "Five more seconds," Jess whispered.

Reina huffed, and said, "Fine. Five seconds."

Jess counted down from five, then kissed Reina before she moved back. Reina spit on the floor. "Aww, gross! Just leave, would you?"

"I'm gonna call that one a victory," Jess murmured, patting Reina's head on the way out.

"Don't touch me!" Reina said, exasperatedly waving her hands at Jess.

Jess picked her up by her shirt's collar, and Reina glared at her. "I will touch you if I want." then, Jess put her down. "Come hell or high water, rain or shine, I will be there to turn an otherwise boring day into a good one."

With that, Jess left Reina sitting alone, eating Kung Fu chicken out of sheer stress.
