Chapter Four

Reina sighed, sitting in her chair, alone Again. But she knew it wouldn't be long before her nemesis showed up, ready to try and seduce her with a cute gag.

Jess was a bit later than usual, however, so Reina went to the kitchen to get some coffee. She had a choice between caramel and chocolate, having run out of French Vanilla. Stumped, she decided that she wanted neither. She went to her room, and looked at the mini trash can that stayed next to her bed. It had been two weeks since she had emptied it, but it wasn't disgusting- it was actually full of photocopied and laminated versions of Jess' number. She knew that calling Jess would mean Jess having her phone number. But...

     She wanted french vanilla coffee.

     "Hello?"

"Yeah, um, who the hell is this, huh? Another pervert with my number? I swear to God in heaven, if another boy gets my GOD-DAMNED NUMBER, I'M GONNA-"

     "It's Reina."

     "Oh, hey sweet-ums. What's up?"

Reina rolled her eyes, amazed at how relatable she could be to Jess on the subject of perversion. "Uh... I guess you're on the way, correct?"

"Uh-huh!" Jess squealed. "I ran over at school today. I had to fight off a horde of boys wanting my number from my friend."

"Uh... Right... Listen, can you do me a favor?" Reina asked.

     "Anything."

"Are you sure? It isn't necessary to-"

"You're talking to someone who would take a sword to the left tit for you."

Reina was silent for a good five seconds. "That's... oddly specific... Anyways, I ran out of French Vanilla coffee creamer, can you get some?"

The phone hung up, and Reina rolled her eyes. She turned to go back to her throne, and ran into Jess, who was utterly out of breath.

     "What the- how did- what-"

"They had French Vanilla and vanilla, and I didn't know which one, so I got both!!!"

Reina's eyes were wide. "Um... Okay... Here, I'll make some for both of us."

Jess nodded, then fell to the floor, breathing heavily.

Reina handed Jess a cup, and sat down herself. Unable to think of something else to start a conversation with, Reina said, "So, um, what's with that coat? Why do you always wear it?"

Jess looked down at it, and shrugged. "My brother, Jeff, had one specially made for him, and then brought one home for me. It stores pure magic energy in an alternate dimension, then I can use it any time I need it."

Reina couldn't help but be amazed. "That's pretty awesome, I've gotta admit."

Jess shrugged. "Not as awesome as you are."

Reina looked to the side. "You're getting better at making your perverted and flirtatious comments adhere to the situation."

Jess smirked. "You're getting better at being an absolute doll."

Reina smiled, rolling her eyes, and Jess' jaw dropped. "Is that a smile?! Is that success I detect?!"

Reina pushed Jess further away. "I wouldn't say success. Let's go with... Reaching an understanding."

Jess smiled. "I can accept that for now, Reina."
