Sweet Revenge : Be Yourself

FOUR DAYS BEFORE PROM:

"Alice, why are you in your school uniform?" Alice's father blocked her as she limped down the stairs.

"Because I have school?" Alice answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Well, you aren't, not when your foot is still injured. Stay here at home today and rest. You won't miss any lessons anyway," he said. "And don't you dare oppose to this otherwise I'm going to march up to your school and confront the person responsible for your sprain." Alice shut her mouth immediately and rolled her eyes.

"But Alice, don't forget to thank the person who carried you all the way here," her mother interrupted. Alice resisted the urge to laugh.

"The person responsible and the person who brought me here is only one though," she told herself.

"Hey Mark, Alice won't be coming today?" Veronica asked as they were on their way to the clubhouse. Mark merely nodded.

"Yeah, I kind of expected that to happen," he said in disappointment. "But don't worry, her injury isn't that bad. She'll still attend prom," Mark increased the volume of his voice just so Tiffany and Mia would hear it.

"Hurry up slowpokes, there's still a lot of stuff to do!" Edward called them.

Once they were at the venue, they all proceeded to work. Thankfully, Alice was able to submit the backdraft for the stage so they were able to start without difficulty. They also started the landscaping and surprisingly, Tiffany and Mia didn't even bother Mark for the whole day. "Must be the guilt," Mark thought to himself.

THREE DAYS BEFORE PROM:

"How's your foot?" Mark asked as they were walking towards the clubhouse. Alice slightly raised her foot and shook it.

"It has gotten a little better, although I'm still obviously limping," she said as she shook her messily bandaged foot.

"That's good, I was worried you may not be able to attend prom." Mark said in relief as he knelt down.

"No way in hell I'm missing that," Alice retorted. "Wait, why are you kneeling?" she asked.

"Hey Alice, will you…" he looked into her eyes. Alice's eyes widened in confusion and her heart began to pound against her chest. "Will you please let me fix the bandage on your foot?" he asked.

Alice felt like a ton of bricks just hit her on the head. "What was I thinking? Wait… what was I even thinking?" she scolded herself. "Y-yeah… go on" she stuttered as she looked away from him.

Once Mark was done fixing it, they caught up to their classmates then Alice told him that she'd be talking to the teacher for a while. Mark's eyes narrowed. "She's up to something,"

Everyone proceeded to their tasks once they reached the clubhouse. Alice was in charge of their committee so she was multi-tasking. She had to give instructions from time to time and help them since she wasn't present the day before.

"Tiffany and Mia is it okay if you redo the skirting? It's not coming out right" Alice said as nicely as possible.

The two girls stood up and faced her. "Why would we repeat it? It isn't our fault that you weren't present yesterday that we had to improvise," Tiffany scoffed.

"Excuse me? It isn't my fault as well that the two of you are like leeches to Mark which caused him to let go of the ladder and give me this sprain," Alice retorted.

"This is new Alice, you aren't your usual calm and collected self." Mia chuckled.

Alice rolled her eyes. "You still need to repeat the skirting. If you didn't plan the whole thing of hurting me then you don't have to redo the whole thing but alas, just repeat the damn thing." Alice told them.

"Hey, don't you dare accuse us!" Tiffany yelled as she pointed a finger at Alice. They already caught everyone's attention but no one wanted to interfere.

"I'm not accusing you, I'm just telling you what you did." she chuckled.

"Shut up Alice, it was your fault anyway!" Mia yelled. Alice's eyebrows rose in sudden interest.

"If only you weren't such a flirt! You're always flirting with Mark ever since you found put that we like him, I warned you to stay away but what did you do? You only got closer to him! You're such a bitch! You've got nothing to prove, I wish you really were expelled, better yet I wish I hurt you with the knife back then at the retreat!" Tiffany blurted out.

To everyone's surprise, Alice punched Tiffany. "A slap isn't enough for your bitchiness, so I had to punch you. Sorry." she scoffed.

"Teacher! Look at what Alice did to Tiffany!" Mia called.

"I know, I should've believed you in the first place Alice, sorry I doubted you," their teacher said as she approached them.

"What?" the two gasped.

"I set you up. I made a condition with our teacher. If I were to prove the two of you of your wrongdoings then she'll buy me bubble tea. So you two basically got yourselves into trouble for the sake of my bubble tea," Alice smirked. "Hey ma'am don't forget my bubble tea, the honeydew flavor seems nice," she said as she poked her teacher's arms.

"Yes, Alice I'll buy you your bubble tea later. Tiffany and Mia, once we get back to school I want you to head to the principal's office. We have a lot to talk about. Also Alice, I get that you were furious but violence is not the answer. I'll have to give you a warning too for punching Tiffany."

"That won't be a problem," Alice shrugged.

The two girls hung their heads in shame. Meanwhile, Mark was near the stage when it all happened so he had a good view of what happened, he couldn't help but feel proud of Alice. "Good job," he said as he went near her.

"Oh go away. It's your fault why this started," Alice pushed him away.

"But it's over right?" he cooed.

"Go away!" Alice shouted.

"Alright miss scowls-a-lot," he teased.

After the incident, everyone continued working. Once they were done with the decorating, they were told to go back to school, and for the rest of the days they may join the practice. Mia and Tiffany were brought to the principal's office, they were all given punishments which will take place after the prom. Tiffany was given a two-day suspension while Mia will be doing community service for the next week, and as usual, they still blamed Alice for everything.

"Hey, since it's still early what if we all search for our tuxedos?" Lance suggested.

"Sure," the guys agreed.

"Hey Alice, wanna go with us? Do you already have a gown?" Gerald asked.

"Yeah sure, I'll go, I still don't have anything to wear." Alice replied.

They went to the mall and headed to the stores where there were gowns and tuxedos. It didn't take long till the guys found the perfect tuxedos for each of them. "Hold my bag for a while, I'll be trying on some gowns," she grunted as she shoved her bag to Mark.

"Take note gowns, not tuxedos!" Alex teased.

One of the store's assistants grabbed a whole rack of gowns and pushed Alice into the fitting room. Alice tried on a yellow gown, then she went outside and asked the guys' opinion, "Too simple," Vincent said. So she tried on a different gown

"Too extravagant," Matthew commented. And the next gown, "Too loose," Josh muttered, then the next "Too colorful." Lance sighed, then the other, "It's way too plain," Gerald told her and the next, "That style is too mainstream," Alex yawned.

A vein throbbed on Alice's forehead, "Okay, that's it! I've tried on almost every gown and you'll always comment something about it. What should I wear? Shirts and jeans?" she growled.

"Well we were just saying our honest opinions," Josh explained.

Alice blew the hair on her face away. "What should I do?" she grunted, then she noticed Mark who was asleep on a sofa with her bag in his arms.

Alice marched towards him and she shook him violently "Wake up and let go of my bag you moron," Mark opened his eyes and yawned.

"What the hell are you wearing?" he asked.

Alice noticed that she was still wearing the last gown she tried on, she blushed. "I-I was just trying on some gowns and I asked for their opinions, apparently none of the gowns suit me. Don't you even think that I was trying these on for fun. I hate gowns." she said defensively.

Mark smiled; he stood up and patted her head. "Maybe that's why the gowns don't suit you, choose something that you really like not what you think will look good in the eyes of others. Just be yourself," he said.

"What makes you say so? You know nothing," she avoided eye contact.

"Because every day I see you being yourself and no matter what you wear be it girly skirts or baggy shorts you still look amazing, especially to my eyes." Mark grinned.

"Oh shut up and just give me my bag before your essence goes to it," Alice grunted.

"Just remember, you are what you are and people won't care because you are just Alice. You're the person I lo—"

"So what if you stop being so mushy and let's pay for our tuxedos," Gerald interfered, he was suddenly kicked by the others. "I was on wrong timing wasn't I?" he laughed nervously.

Indeed he was.

He saw Mark and Alice glaring daggers at him. "What do you mean mushy?" Alice cracked her knuckles.

"Talk about ruining the moment," Mark raged.

"Sorry," Gerald squeaked.

"I will kill you!" the two chased Gerald. The other guys sighed in disbelief.

"Once again a good chance for Mark to confess, wasted." Lance said in dismay.
