Percy's POV
Percy knew the others have suspicious about her. She had felt it ever since joining the team.
Kaldur was the only one who understands her and her story. Percy didn't really want to have her identity hidden from them, she just fears that once she reveals who she is to the others, they would question her about her past and she just couldn't bring herself to talk about it.
The demigoddess sighed and got up from her bed. How long has it been since she left Camp Half-Blood? Five months? Six? She couldn't remember, neither did she wanted to go back. But perhaps its time to finally visit that place and pay her respect to them...
Percy scanned her room at Mout Justice, there wasn't much besides her basic furniture, just some of her personal belongings and a bunch of photos of her and her friends and family. They all serve as a reminder to Percy, about how happy and innocent she was back then and how she had failed to save them. Many of the photos had memos underneath it, some in Ancient Greek some in English.
She got dressed in her usual orange t-shirt and shorts and put on her Camp Half-Blood beads. Percy might not want to go back to Camp but that doesn't mean she wanted to forget about it, after all, she did grow up there.
"Wow, Percy, you looked depressed..." She muttered as she studied herself in the mirror. She grabbed her monster-proof phone and scroll through her playlist. I need music to cheer me up, Percy thought as she decided on her song-Your Eyes Tell by BTS.
"Where are you going this early in the morning?" Nightwing asked from the couch where he was sitting.
"Outside," Percy answered with a hollow voice. Nightwing seemed concerned but didn't say anything. Percy walked towards the zeta tube heard the computer announcing her departure.
"Recognize, Riptide B23."
Nightwing's POV
Nightwing watched as Percy passed with a hollowed and sad look on her face. He is worried. Sure, Percy is a new recruit and Nightwing doesn't exactly trust her yet but that doesn't mean he didn't care for her! He's not Batman, for goodness sake!
Nightwing rushed to the Zeta tube control just as Percy disappeared into the light.
Manhattan
He rushed back to where the others are at. "Percy has gone to Manhattan and she is not feeling the aster. Not even a bit." The others got up and head towards the Zeta tube. Kaldur opened his mouth to say something but stopped himself.
"Are you coming, Kaldur?" The Atlantean nodded and got up.
"Look, there she is!" Artemis whisper-yelled. There, twenty feet in front of them was Percy, She seems absent-minded, her feet dragged on the ground and she carried seven white flowers in her hand. They watched as she stopped in front of a large cemetery. The gates were chained up with a large lock with no keyholes.
'How is she gonna unlock that?' Megan's voice asked through the mind-link.
As if answering her question, Percy touched the lock and a glowing sea-green trident appeared on the lock. The team watched in awe as the chains disappeared and the gate swang open. Percy hesitated to enter and Nightwing thought for a second that she knows they are there. But she walked forward and into the 'cemetery'. Of course, they followed, and inside was not a cemetery but a memorial park.
'Wow, what is this place?' Wally asked.
'I have not believed the stories until this moment..." Kaldur's voice appeared in Nightwing's head.
'What stories?' Connor looked puzzled.
'The stories about the mysterious place the gods built in honor of the great heroes.' Kaldur answered.
'Guys, look at these statues! Do you guys recognize any of them?'
'A few, but who are the others? And why are they all here?'
'Heroes, they are all heroes who had done great things or had sacrificed themselves for the greater good.' Kaldur answered.
'Then why are we not on it? Or our mentor?'
'That's because these are heroes of other means.'
Nightwing walked close to a statue of a girl carrying a bow with an arrow nocked and studied its pedestal. On it were the words:
Zoe Nightshade
Daughter of Atlas
Lieutenant of Artemis
Prophecy:
Five shall go west to the goddesses in chains,
One shall be lost in the land without rain,
The bane of Olympus shows the trail,
Campers and Hunters combined prevail,
The Titan's curse must one withstand,
And one shall perish by a parent's hand.
'Wait did it say Daughter of Atlas? As in The Titan Atlas? And what's with the Prophecy?' Wally questioned.
'No idea, but let's talk about it later, right now where is Percy?'
'Over there.' Superboy answered crouching beside a statue of a boy with a scar on his face, his pedestal read: Luke Castellan, son of Hermes... the rest were blocked by Superboy.
Atlas, Hermes, Artemis... Nightwing was getting confused but he focused on the direction where Percy is. She was standing in front of six statues of teens no older than her, each holding a specific weapon. The former Boy Wonder squinted to look at the statues.
One was a girl with curly hair carrying a spatha. One was an Asian-looking boy with bow and arrow. One was a boy with a gladius in hand frozen in a mid-swing position. One was a beautiful girl with choppy hair and a dagger in hand. Another was a boy who looked like a Latino elf with a hammer and an oversize toolbelt. The last one was a girl with princess curls holding a dagger and pointing it at the sky.
Percy was on her knees in front of the last statue and crying uncontrollably. They watched as she slowly collects herself and stood up to look at the statues.
"Hey, Wise Girl, I'm so sorry I hadn't been visiting you and the seven lately...I just can't bring myself to think about what we have been through, what you all have been through." She took a shaky breath and looked at the statues next to the girl.
"I'm so sorry, I should have been faster, I should have been faster to take down Gaia. It's not fair, why should I live while you all had to die, why did the Fates hates me so much? Haven't I done enough already?!"
"But I suppose this is our life, we are destined to die on battlefields, destined to be heroes..."
Nightwing watched worriedly as Percy broke down crying again and curl up beside the pedestal of the girl with a dagger in hand. Slowly Percy's sobs subsided and she was asleep.
'Is she okay?' Megan asked
'She will be...someday.'
'Come on, let's take a look around this place, while she is asleep.' Wally said. Nightwing didn't really want to, he felt like they are intruding personal space here but he got up quietly and walked around the statues, taking in names and accomplishments. He noticed these statues are have something in common, they all claimed to be the sons and daughter of the Greek gods, some have prophecies engraved on their pedestals. Even the six statues have them but were does Percy come in this? She clearly knows them, or use to know them. Then...he sees it.
'Oh Lord, guys, come and look at this.' The others joined him and their eyes widened. Behind the statues of the six was one for Percy Jackson, their teammate. She was holding a sword with a leaf-shape blade in one hand, the other outstretched, like she is controlling something in the distance. Nightwing glanced down to look at her pedestal.
Persephone (Percy) Jackson
Daughter of Poseidon
Two-time Saviour of Olympus
Praetor of New Rome
Survivor of Tartarus
Defeater of Kronos
Defeater of Gaia
The last surviving member of the Seven
'Wow, no way did she did all of this right?' Artemis asked still stunned at the words engraved on the pedestal.
'No, she did more than that but they only recorded the major ones.' Kaldur replied proudly.
'Who's the Seven? And is she in any of those prophecies?' Nightwing asked.
'The Seven are a group of heroes who saved the world from the evil goddess Gaia. Percy is one of them, the others are the six statues you all saw just now.' Kaldur answered, 'And yes, she is in the prophecy, more than one actually but that's the story for another day.'
'Wait, Mother Earth is real and she is evil? And are you saying that Riptide is actually a demigod daughter of a Greek god and she had been running around saving the world?' Wally shouted, his eyes almost popped out of his socket.
Kaldur nodded in confirmation, 'She is the princess of the seas. All Atlantis knows about her and her heroic deeds.'
Nightwing was half listening, he studied the Pedestal again and drank in its words. She had been through so much and had seen her friends fall while she lived with the guilt.
Survivor of Tartarus...
'Kaldur isn't Tartarus a Greek word for hell? Is that a metaphor for her sufferings?' The Atlantean's face turned pained.
'No, the Princess had been to the literal hell, the place where all monsters are born.' The team went silent.
'A demigod's life is hard, they are born to fight battles and go on quests. They are destined to be hunted all throughout their life.' Nightwing felt a ping of sadness for Percy. He looked towards the sleeping demigoddess and sighed.
'Let's go, this place is filled with too much sadness and she needs our help.' They nodded.
'How do we bring her back? She is asleep.'
'I'll carry her.' Nightwing immediately volunteered.
The others snicked but the bird just ignored them and walked up to the girl quietly. He picked up the demigoddess bridal style and carried her out of the memorial park. Percy snuggle close to his chest and our former Boy Wonder blushed slightly under his mask. A smiled was tucked at the corner of his mouth the whole time until they reached the cave.
Dick sat Percy down on her bed and the girl curled up into a ball and kept sleeping. He smiled softly and got up to leave the room when something caught his eyes. Percy's room was simple but it was decorated heavily with pictures of her and a bunch of other people.
He looked closely at them, some have English memos underneath it others have...was that Ancient Greek? He spotted one picturing young Percy with a girl in curly blonde-hair and stormy eyes and another guy with curly brown hair and a red cap. They are all smiling happily despite looking dirty and had numerous cuts on their bodies. The memo underneath it read:
Me, Annabeth, and Grover after our first quest!
Dick's smile saddened a bit when he recognized the girl from the statue in the park. He looked at the next one then the next. He noticed with each picture, the innocent in the sea-green eyes slowly disappeared and gained its broked look. Finally, he couldn't look anymore, that's just too much sadness. Dick walked out of the room quietly.
