The Demigod Story. Riptide is a sword?

Percy's POV

How in Hades (Sorry uncle, love you~) did she end up in her bed at Mount Justice? Did someone bring her back? Probably. Maybe Kaldur, since he knows the place, kinda.

Percy got up and changed into her daily outfit: her orange CHB t-shirt, shorts, and her favorite running shoes. She stands in front of her mirror, twists her raven hair up into a messy bun, and put on her beaded necklace. She made sure Riptide the pen is in her pocket and her enchanted ring that can change into her suit is on her finger before heading out.

"Morning Percy." Nightwing greeted, sipping his coffee. He was wearing jeans and a simple black t-shirt with a pair of sunglasses concealing his identity. This is definitely not a strange sight, seeing Nightwing in civies.

"Morning." Percy greeted as she enters the kitchen, preparing to make pancakes using her mom's recipe.

...

"Uhhh, Percy? Are these pancakes supposed to be blue?" A very confused Megan asked, peeking above her shoulder.

"Yes, these were my mom's recipe. Here try some, I promise its good."

Nightwing leaned over, seemingly interested as the young Martian took a bite of the blue food. Immediately her eyes shone with happiness as she shoved down the rest of the pancake.

"These are so good, Percy! How did you do it?"

"Secret," Percy said winking. "Go on, try one, Boy Wonder."

Needless to say, the blue food won everyone over. Percy had to cook up another server for herself because a certain speedster had eaten up hers when she had her back turned. Percy had to use 10% of her wolf-glare just to keep Wally from eating her food again.

"Why are they blue?" Artemis asked out of the blue. (See what I did there?... Nevermind.)

Percy hesitated for a sec before continuing, "Well, when I was little, my mom and my first step-father had a huge argument about how there is no such thing as blue food. My mom was determined to prove him wrong, so the next morning, she made blue pancake, and ever since then she had gone out of her ways of making blue food." She laughed a little, "I guess that habit stayed with me, because of my mom, I refused to eat anything that is not blue."

They chuckled and out of nowhere Megan pipped up, "Hello Megan, we should have a cookout!"

I swear, that girl had the most random ideas.

So, with no idea how the team agreed to do a cookout. Megan, Wally, and Artemis had decided to go out and buy supplies, while Connor and Kaldur set up the equipment. That leaves the Bluebird and the demigoddess behind to clean up the kitchen table.

Percy didn't mind working with Nightwing, she kinda enjoyed the momentary peace and quiet. But she could tell something was bothering Nightwing, or more frankly, the rest of the team. She had noticed that they are trying to ask her something but held back.

Percy was lost in thoughts and didn't even notice where she was going until she hit something hard and fall backward on the impact. She closed her eyes, expecting the impact of the floor when nothing happened, she looked up and realized that she was an inch away from Nightwing's face. Percy had bumped into Nightwing and he had caught her before she could hit the floor.

Percy quickly got out of his arms, a blush visibly on her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I didn't see where I was going."

"I-It's fine..." A moment of awkward silence.

Nightwing's POV

"I'm sorry, I didn't see where I was going," Percy said, clearly embarrassed and ashamed of herself.

"I-It's fine..."

Great job, Grayson. You scared the girl, did you seriously just stared at her and made her uncomfortable? Nightwing felt like kicking himself.

"So...I'm gonna go and see if Kaldur and Conner needed any help..." He almost ran out of there. Dick was sure she saw his red face when he had held her and their face was an inch apart. Goodness, that was embarrassing. But now that he was alone, he couldn't help but think about how pretty Percy Jackson is. She was like a goddess and given now that Nightwing had known about her heritage, he won't be very surprised to learn that if she was related to one. Dick looked down at his hand, the hand that had held Percy, he couldn't help but felt empty inside after Percy left his arms-Wait, did he fall for Percy Jackson already? That thought stopped him in his track. Is he in love with the new heroine, just like what his friends had said?

Dick's thoughts flew back to the young demigoddess. He thought about the was she fight, the was she laughed, and how she made him smile even if he doesn't know her yet. Her ocean scent, her mischievous grin, and how she always has this powerful yet calming aura around her.

Guess Wally is right, he did fall for her already. Deep.

Nightfall...

"Tell us about yourself, Percy. What's your story? How did you become a hero?" Megan asked. They are sitting around a bound fire, making smores.

Percy's expression was blank for a moment before breaking into a sad smile. Her sea-green eyes turning golden in the firelight.

"I suppose you all have found out about my secret already?" The others all look down, not daring to meet her eyes.

Percy sighed, "I guess this will happen sooner or later. Tell me, how much do you already know?"

There is no point in keeping secrets, so they told her everything, the stalking to the memorial, the words on the pedestal...everything.

Percy listened patiently, not even getting mad at the fact that they had stalked her.

"Yes, I'm the daughter of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea and earthquakes. My life is basically like the ones in ancient times. Demigods carrying out quests for the gods, or as we like to call it, cleaning up their messes." Thunder boomed overhead. Percy glared up at it as if daring the sky to send a lightning bolt down on her.

"I guess I should tell you all my story and how I can to be Here...You see, when I was twelve, I went on this field trip..."

The team was quiet the entire time. Percy told them about her time at Camp Half-Blood, a place for demigods like her to be safe and train. She told them about her first quest and how a prophecy states that she was destined to die at the age of 16.

"What?!" Nightwing shouted, looking increasingly at the demigoddess.

Percy smiled sadly and processed to continue her story. She told them about Luke, and how he had been tempted into helping Kronos. Her voice broke slightly when she mentioned the second Titan War and the sacrifices the deceased demigods had made.

Dick put a comforting hand on Percy's shoulder.

"Percy, you mentioned a prophecy telling you that you are destined to die at the age of 16 but you are 17 now, what happened?" She was silent for a minute before answered him.

"The prophecy goes like this:

A half-blood of the eldest gods

shall reach sixteen against all odds,

And see the world in endless sleep,

The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap.

A single choice shall end his days, Olympus to preserve or raze."

"Cheery," Superboy commented.

" The half-blood was me since my dad is one of the big three. I reached sixteen despite countless dangers that were thrown my way. On the day of the battle I told you about, the mortals of Manhattan were all put to sleep by the god of dreams himself. Originally, everyone thought that the hero was me but it's actually Luke. In the end, he sacrificed himself to stop Kronos from fully returning to this world. My choice in giving him the knife was the one that determines his fate." Percy explained.

Nightwing was thinking hard before asking the question that had bothered him for a while, "You mentioned having to fight monsters constantly on your quests but why does the news not report any of it?"

"The mist," Percy answered simply. " It's a magic that blocks the mortal eyes from seeing the monsters and other mythical things and tricks them into thinking they see things that can be explained."

"Can you remove it?" Artemis asked. Percy looked puzzled.

"Why in Hades would you want to remove the mist from your eyes? Trust me, it's better for you to have the mist over your eyes."

"I want to see the truth." The others muttered their agreement. Nightwing considered for a second before nodding as well.

Percy sighed, "Fine, but I'm warning you all, the truth is not pretty, monsters roamed the earth, you did be surprised about how many there are within just one city. Close your eyes, everyone." They did as they were told.

Percy raised her hand and closed her own eyes: "Oh Hecate, goddess of magic, I ask that your mist be lifted from these mortals eyes and allow them to see the world of the gods."

Dick opened his eyes and blinked a few times. Nothing seems to have changed but he felt different for some reason and his vision seems to be clearer than before. Then he looked at Percy and did a double-take.

The daughter of Poseidon still looked as beautiful as ever but now Dick noticed just how much she had been through. Scars of all sizes littered her body. Some looked brand new, some look years old. Dick also noticed a burnt mark on Percy's forearm. He could tell others had noticed it too and were staring at it in wonder.

"What's that on your arm?" Megan asked.

"A tattoo," Percy answered, stretching out her forearm. On it, was a tattoo of a trident with the letters SPQR and one line underneath it. They looked like they were burned into her flesh, like a brand mark.

"I understand the trident, but what does SPQR stand for? No way does it stand for 'the senate and the people of Rome' does it?" Nightwing asked the girl.

Percy smirked.

"No way, but-"

"-Which brings me to my next story, the Second Giant War..." Percy told the team about her being kidnapped by an alien know as Hera, her time at the roman demigod camp, and her journey on the Argo II.

Dick was certain that Percy was holding back information but he didn't push her. The photos in her room and the statues in the Memorial clearly show that the memories were painful and boy did he know about the painful past. From what Kaldur had told them, this demigod had been though the literal hell and back. PTSD? Yep, she definitely has it. Her look says it all.

Kaldur, who had been very quiet up till now, spoke up for the first time since Megan had asked Percy the question. "Princess, if you don't mind me asking, are you ever gonna show them your weapon?"

All heads turn back to the girl in question.

Percy's expression immediately brightened, she pulled out a regular looking ball-point pen. Artemis raised an eyebrow.

"Uh, it's just a pen..."

"Wasn't there a famous saying? The pen is mightier than the sword? But in my case-" She uncapped the pen and it transformed into a three-foot-long bronze sword with a leaf-shaped blade.

"-I have both and they are equally mighty." Dick's mouth hangs open in shock.

"How did-"

"Ancient magic. Everyone, meet Anaklusmos, also know as Riptide. Riptide, this is The Team." Percy introduced proudly.

"Wait, wasn't Riptide your code name?" Megan asked, confusion written all over her face.

Kaldur chuckled, "The Princess had taken her name from her sword."

"It's the best I can think of!"

"What is this sword made of? Bronze? Why is it glowing?" Wally questioned.

"Celestial Bronze, godly metal. Deadly to monsters and other mythical beings."

"Okay..." Dick had the sudden urge to edge away from the girl with the glowing dangerous sword.

Percy laughed at his discomfort. "Don't worry, celestial bronze don't hurt mortals, they will pass right through you."

"Will it work on Martians or Kryptonians?" Megan asked worriedly.

"Nope, it only works on mythical beings, like monsters, gods, and us demigods."

"It works on Atlanteans too." Kaldur put in calmly.

"Oh, oh, oh, can you try it on me?" Wally jumped up and ran to Percy. Artemis facepalmed and Dick felt like doing the same thing.

"Er, sure..." Percy stood and lightly touched her blade against Wally's arm. No blood seeps through. She then swang her sword across his entire body but the blade only passes through like Wally is made of a hologram.

"Cool!" Percy laughed and sat back down beside Dick.
