Chapter Fifteen

After that day will the alliance Pride took us in and started preparing for the battle to come. He took it upon himself to train me personally since my family and he have history. Greed ended up training everyone else. Pride quickly learned that I was skilled in assassination but lack everywhere else. He pointed out that I relied too much on my wolf blood for battle.

So my training began in the use of a sword. Pride trained me day after day until my muscles ached.

" Issac, focus!" Pride snapped.

" Right," I answered shaking my head trying to clear it.

" Ready?" He asked. I change my stance to a defensive one, he charges at me with his wooden sword, I block his attack at the last second with my real one. He claimed that I wouldn't be able to land a single hit and so far he's right. He either dodges at the last second or I miss completely. I manage to push his sword back and charge him at full speed when someone approached him and sidesteps my attack effortlessly and smacks my back with his sword knocking me to the ground. Pride turns to them asking how their mission went in a friendly tone as I clean the dirt off my clothes behind him.

" The mission went as you expected your Highness, I got what you asked of me," They replied and held out a piece of paper to the king. He broke a blood-red seal I didn't recognize and read what was inside, when he finished reading it he spoke to them once again.

" Excellent, well done, you may leave now and rest," He said. They bowed and left.

Pride walked back over to me where I stood confused with my sword in my hand. He stops in front of me and holds out the wooden sword pointing at me and smiles.

" Issac, we gained an ally,"

" Who?" I asked now excited but still confused.

" The Soul Reapers," He stated still smiling.

" This is great, we need all the allies we can get," I said. Pride agreed.

" And we now have another one thanks to Envy," He said holding up the letter the seal still stuck to part of the paper. "Come we have work to do," Said Pride walking away. I quickly follow wondering what he meant. We get back to the King's study, the same room where we became allies. He sat in his velvet chair his dark shaggy hair concealing his eyes.

" Now," He said seriously his hands intertwined on his desk. I sat in the chair in front of the desk nervously.

" Your Highness?" I asked.

" I'm getting a strong feeling the Vampires will be attacking soon, which means we have to be ready,"

" Why do you think that?" I ask as sweat runs down the back of my neck.

" I just have a feeling that they are," He replied. " But, for now, you should try to rest as much as posable and tell your friends as well,"

" Thank you, I will," I said as I stood up to leave.

" Issac,"

" Yes?" I asked as I turned around.

" Keep your guard up," He said seriously. I gave him a nod and left.
