chapter twenty-two

One, two…and three hours pass since I've collapsed onto my bed yet I haven't slept at all. I decide to give up on trying to sleep and move my aching body slowly out of my comfortable bed. I now hear voices traveling from under my door, I half stumble half walk almost falling into my door as I try to open it.

" Find whoever did this," Hisses a very upset voice. I can't tell who it is so I follow the voice using the wall as a crutch.

" My lord, they didn't leave a trace," answers another voice.

" I said find them!" The first voice yells. I find where the voices are coming from, I stumble through the open door frame and is met with Pride and a guard staring at me. " Find who?" I grumble my voice filled with pain.

" Issac…" Pride says sternly taking a step towards me.

" Who are you looking for?" I repeat, at that moment I realized what room I was in, I should've known already. The sweet flower smell now faint in my nose getting stronger by the second. Now I know why he took a step closer to me, he was blocking my view so I couldn't see behind him.

" Isaac," he repeats snapping me out of my thoughts. I met his eyes anger slowly creeping up, my blood beginning to simmer. " Who…are…you..looking…for," I repeat enunciating every word. Pride doesn't say anything but moves to unobstruct my view hanging his head low. Expecting to see the peaceful looking Alex there is nothing but an outline of where she once was the only indication she was ever there to begin with.

" Where is she!" Rage dripping from my words.

" We don't know," Pride answered. A growl fills the room. " Take is easy," Pride says caution in his voice hands going up to try to keep me calm. At his words I realize the growl was coming from me.

" If you can't find who took her, I will," I snarl before stumbling back to my room. By morning my things are packed and I'm well enough to walk and not stumble like a fool anymore. As I walk through the halls the only sound is my light footsteps. Now the Cresent Prince will disappear once again but this time searching for what's dearest to him.

" I will find you Alex, and I will kill whoever did this if it's the last thing I do," I say half to myself as I ajust my bag on my shoulder before stepping through the castle doors marking my first step on my journey.
