Eleventh Vow: Past Comes Back

Catherine assumed that she and Victor would get to eat at a restaurant and it would end with them taking a short stroll at the park then heading home. She got far from that. Victor and Catherine are seated next to each other at the police station.

They still had to make a statement. One officer called for Victor. "Young man, you're up." Victor nodded. "I'll be back Rosie. Wait here." He kissed her forehead. "I will."

Catherine looked at the clocked move as she patiently waited for Victor to come out. A lady officer sat beside her. She handed her a drink; it's coffee. Catherine didn't like coffee very much but she took the drink anyways. "Men are dangerous, ain't they? You know the reason why you have to go here is that your man went a tad bit too far in protecting you. As per law, I mean."

"I guess so, they were in bad shape." Catherine sipped the coffee.

The officer continued with her story. "One guy had it worse than the others. He had both his arms broken. I guess that's the end of him harassing us females." Catherine looked at her then back to the coffee. "I see… What about the others? Two of 'em had their legs broken and the other one got three broken ribs."

'I know Victor could be violent but I didn't think he would be this violent.'

"There's more hon… All of 'em got their crotches destroyed. It was like he stomped on them poor juniors. I don't blame him though. Once the one you love gets hurt, you'd go berserk." The officer stood up. "Once he gets out from the office, both of you are good to go. I'll get going now."

Catherine nodded. After a few minutes, she saw Victor. "The officer said we're good to go, once you got out."

"Oh? I was going to tell you that though."

"How was it?" She queried. "Basic questions and such. Nothing too important, don't worry its fine. We're fine." They got out of the police station. Victor's hands are not bloody like before. She heard Victor chuckle. "This isn't the date I was expecting, I hope we can go another time. Without any trips to the police station this time."

"I'd like that." They walked in silence. It is a comfortable type of silence. Victor decided to break it. "You know when I was in France, I constantly thought about you Rosie."

"Yeah, me too. I got pretty lonely without you. When you left, I realized I never had any other friends except for you. At least not the one's I can openly contact or hang out."

'Friend, huh?' He thought sadly.

"Rosie, I…"

"What is it Victor?" She tilted her head an angle to the right. "I've been meaning to tell you this." Victor exhaled. "I like you, no, I love you. Don't mistake it as a friendly kind of love. I look at you as woman not a sister."

Catherine certainly didn't expect his sudden confession. She tried to speak but no words came out. "I was happy when I could finally spend some time with you but I didn't think it would end up this way… That's the reason why I don't like other men talking to you, I get easily jealous. I always had constant fear of them taking you away from me."

"Victor…" He held both of her hands. "I know this isn't the perfect time to confess but I think being alone with you on the streets in this kind of evening is telling me to let you know." He smiled at Catherine genuinely. His blue orbs show passion, love and a tinge of strangeness in them.

"I-I don't know what to say… I mean, I'm seeing Grey and you know that." Catherine didn't know what to say. It is true that she's with Grey but rejecting the person who has been with her through the years is difficult.

He held her cheek then her lips. He eyed them hungrily. "You don't know how much I want you Rosie… I think about you when I wake up in the morning and when I go to sleep. When I hold a book, I wondered if you would like it too or when I travel, I imagine you with me."

Catherine is torn. What would she tell Grey? What on earth would she tell Victor, now that he is suddenly dropping the bomb? Catherine tried to speak but Victor cut her off. "Listen to me Rosie. I want you to know how serious I am with you…"

He kissed her forehead then pressed his and hers together. "I love you, Rosie. I love you; I love you so much."
