Eleventh Vow: Past Comes Back II

They stayed that way for a couple of minutes but it felt like an eternity to Catherine. She did have a crush on Victor but she didn't pay much about it because he had a fiancée and it felt wrong at that time. She buried her feelings and pretended to be numb about it.

Now that she no longer holds any of those and dismissed them platonically. Some part of her is happy she finally gets to hear those words but liked she said. She had Grey.

She separated herself from Victor. Victor looked so shattered. His eyes began to look glassy as if he is about to cry. It hurt her whenever he gets hurt but now it hurt even more when she knows she caused it.

Victor looked down. He couldn't hold back from the tears. One by one, they fell like tiny rain drops. "I'm so sorry Victor." It is Catherine's turn to cry. "I just don't know what to say… I don't want to lose you but I'm seeing Grey, you know that very well."

"But you told me you weren't serious about him…" He replied dejectedly.

"I know you liked me back then. How is that any different now?!" Victor shouted; pain evident in his cracking voice. He stared at her, the tears didn't stop flowing. "How..."

"Victor… You knew all along and why didn't you tell me?"

"I was leaving for France and I had a fiancée to take care of. I couldn't give false assurance. I didn't want to burden you for waiting. I was scared! Scared that what if, y-you won't choose me, that ma-maybe I can't save our friendship. I love you too much Rosie, you of all people know that."

He grabbed her hand and placed it on his chest, right where his heart is located. "This beats for you Rosie! You gave me so much time, attention and patience. You understood me when no one else dared to! You made me, me."

"Don't hurt me Rosie, not to me, please." All memories of her and Victor flashed before her eyes. Victor looked so desperate. She was happy with him, even now but… That is the last straw. Catherine couldn't take it. Even if it so wrong, she hugged him as tightly as she could.

"I planned that when I come back, I could tell you the truth…" Victor cried hard on her neck. "When I saw you with Kingsley, I thought… I thought, I-I lost you. Not to me Rosie, please, not to me."

Victor's heart couldn't take it. It is too much. He can't bear to hear the words of rejection from Catherine. She held both of his cheeks and wiped his tears. "I can't give you a proper answer right now Victor. I need to sort things out with Grey, okay? I can't just tell him off without any proper reason."

Catherine saw how blue his eyes were. How much she adored his orbs the most every time. "Promise me, you'll wait." Victor tried to get himself together. "I promise…"

"Stay with me tonight Rosie."

"W-what? N-no!" She looked at him with disbelief after their heartfelt moment, he says that out of the blue.

Victor wiped his eyes and chuckled. "That's not what I when. I mean to say is that you can stay at my place today. I'll have a car pick us up."

"W-what d-do you mean stay at your place?" She looked at him from head to toe then putting a safe distance between them. "Rosie!" He laughed. "You didn't have any problems sleeping over before. I guess that sounds a little misleading… I'm saying that you'll sleep over at my place. You can sleep at the guest room if that's what you want."

He uttered under his breath. "Before you would sleep beside me, hugging me even."

"I heard that Victor!" Catherine sighed. "You kind of destroyed our moment there… But alright, I'll go with you, for old times' sake."
