Victor paced the room. He tried to calm his nerves. He just couldn't. Dozen questions came to mind. 'What is she finds out?', 'Would she be angry at me?', 'She'll understand that I did it for her, right?'
"Argh! Damn that Kingsley!" He bit his thumb unknowingly that the poor finger is already bleeding. Droplets of blood tainted his bedroom floor. Drip. Drip. Drip. The bright hue of crimson spread through. The little droplets multiplying.
He was so anxious on what Catherine might think of him. But he remembered, even when she was angry at him, they would still make up in the end. He'll just wait until her anger subsides then.
"I look so pathetic…" He dropped on the floor. Laying down his tired body on the cold tiles. "Who am I kidding? Why do I keep on believing lies?" A tear escaped through his right eye. The thought of Catherine looking at him with disgust scared him.
His imagination running wild. All he had to do is to make sure she will never ever find out. The camera men will be dealt with later. He should hire an expert to make sure that whatever evidence Grey had, it will be taken care of.
So when the time comes that the talk will finally come, he had nothing to back himself with. "Rosie will always take my side no matter what." He sighed. His arms wide. Everything is all in shambles ever since Grey Kingsley entered the picture.
He could be cuddling Catherine now if it weren't for Grey's constant meddling. They could be lying in his bed binge watching Netflix shows. He groaned. "This is my problem." Yeah, that is a given.
"I can't channel my anger properly; this is why he makes fun of me."
'I can't help it if it involves my relationship with Rosie.'
"I need to keep it together." All the thinking made him sleepy yet restless. The body of a man whose world hangs in a balance. One wrong move Catherine will regret ever meeting someone like him.
Catherine is all Victor ever had. A friend, family and soon to be a lover. He did not let anyone inside his heart. Other than fear, they were all after something from him. From riches to power, mansions to jewelry, they think he could be at their disposal.
No, never.
She made him see. Made his world a little less dim, that's why he is so attached and obsessed. He is killing to have anyone killed if they ever try to take her away from him. However, Grey belonged to a different category.
He had the same privileges as him. He could pull the same strings but right now, as much as he hated to admit, Grey has the upper hand. This time he had to play with someone at his level.
"Everything is fair in love and war."
A vague memory flashed his mind. It was the time when some kid tried to get close to Catherine. They were probably 16 at that time. The young man whose name Victor did not bother to remember had a crush on her.
Everyone in the school knew that Catherine is absolutely off limits to other guys. They could talk to her sure but having enough audacity to hug her or even sliding through her messages is a whole new matter.
Sure, other guys could get a free pass if it was related to homework and projects but texting whether she had eaten or what she is doing is social suicide. Victor is a gentleman; he would always give warnings before making the final verdict.
