Twenty-fifth Vow: Dinner IV

"Claire." The maid from earlier came forth. "I'd want some chamomile tea with this please." Claire left and Germaine focused his attention to Grey's guest. "So Catherine, how did you manage my son?"

"Pardon?" Catherine almost spit out the food in her mouth. It's finally happening!

"Hm, they way I phrased it seems odd." He chuckled. Grey didn't really mind his father's words. "I meant, how did you let Grey open up to you?"

"Uh, um…" Her brain just literally walked away when she needed it most. "Uh…" Catherine is now beet red and Germaine laughed at her reaction. "Now I'm even more curious. Grey, why don't you help your friend.

"I came to her actually father but she can't say that to you now, can she?" A sly smirk plastered on his face. "I suppose so."

"Is that true dear?"

"Yes Mr. Kingsley, but not in some conceited way actually. We were at the park, then that's kind of it." She grinned nervously. "Please do tell in detail, it would be a bit sketchy if all that happened simultaneously."

"We were talking father and her comment just tugged a few strings in here and her we are." Grey answered for her. Catherine let out a sigh of relief from the inside. "I see." He wiped his mouth with a napkin and stood up. "No, no. You should stay seated and I'd like to talk to after you have eaten."

His comment made her eyes pop wide open. 'Oh no…'

"I am a light eater you see. I'll be in the study room just knock." After that Claire brought a tray with the teapot and the cup. "Just take that to the study room." After he left, Catherine whispered to Grey. "Your father just ate risotto and tea, is he okay?"

"Yes Cathy, he is." He smiled. "Ever since I was young, that's just about what he eats. Even in banquets he ate just light meals."

"Isn't eating so less bad for you?"

"Well of course, but he eats his snacks while working. Tea with butter biscuits."

"The sweet ones?"

"The lightly sweet ones." Catherine nodded in acknowledgement. "Okay."

The dinner is silent and the sounds of utensils are heard. Catherine finished her meal and stood up. "Where is the bathroom?"

"It's just two doors by the right corner. Also, come back here before you meet with father." She nodded and headed to the bathroom. As she walked, she saw paintings of different kinds and also vases that were more expensive than here. She looked at the wet window pane. The dark clouds really set the mood.

She walked with a slow place and just admiring everything. Their house is like something that came out from a movie. Beautiful gate, windows, internal design but it feels empty. Is it because of the choice of curtains? Red velvet is a beautiful color but it just feels so hallow.

She shrugged it off and searched for the bathroom. She should fix herself and got some practicing to do if she doesn't want to make it weird and humiliating herself is the last thing she wants especially in front of Grey's father. Even though he looks like a kind man, you just never really know. He might be wearing a mask on, just for the show.

"Why do I feel like I forgot something important?"
