A soft sound of knocking awoke the sleeping duo. They both got up groggily. "Ugh, seems like he's here." Catherine let out a tired yawn. "What time is it?" Grey looked at the digital clock by the desk and it read 6:47 pm.
"Oh gosh, it's already quite late. Get up quick, your father must be waiting."
"From the looks of it, he just arrived. We'll wait a little longer. Besides if you go the dining hall food isn't served yet."
"Alright then." Catherine settled herself comfortably back on the couch and stretched her limbs. Grey from that time already stood up. "Where are you going?" The female asked. "Downstairs, I should greet him."
"Wait, I'm coming with you."
"Wow, did that nap gave you enough courage?" He chuckled
"Yeah, laugh all you want. It's rude if I don't greet him."
"Sure Cathy, whatever's good with you. Let's go then." After Catherine fixed herself a little, just to make her presentable in front of his father. But wait, she wore his clothes. Would that be weird?
She squirmed. "Uh Grey, I think I should change."
"Why? You look okay. He'll know that I gave you something comfortable. It's a good thing it's raining, just say that your clothes got wet and I gave you some clothes."
"Alright then." Catherine just became even more self-conscious. 'I hate overthinking ugh.'
They arrived at his father's study room. Grey knocked on the beautifully lacquered wooden door. "We're here father."
"Come in."
Both of them came in to see a man in his mid-fifties who aged really damned well. Catherine looked at him then to grey. The resemblance is uncanny. "O-0h, hi sir! I-I mean, good evening, sir."
'Oh my stars, that was so awkward!'
Grey's father chuckled. "No need to be so tense dear. I am Germaine Kingsley, nice to meet you?"
"Catherine Rose Obelia, Mr. Kingsley"
"Just call me Germaine, Catherine. Well, I apologize for being quite late. The weather is one thing and I happen to have some other business to be dealt with." Germaine sighed. "No need to apologize, it's really fine Mr. Kingsley."
"Yes father, there is no need to apologize. Such things are to be expected." Grey spoke politely. "Well then, let's all head to the dining hall. You children must be starving by now." The three of them headed to the said destination.
The eerie silence was not all uncomfortable but somehow inside the dark corners of Catherine's stomach is burning. The 'talk' is about to happen. No matter how many times she said to herself that she'll be fine, she just could not stay still.
Grey leaned down and whispered. "Just calm down Cathy, it's not like he'll eat you."
'I am calm Grey." What an obvious lie.
"Yeah, you are so calm that your hands shiver." She wiggled her hands. "This is nothing." He just tittered. 'Why is she so damned adorable?' They arrived and sat down. Germaine is seated at the top center of the table whereas Grey and Catherine is seated next to each other by the left.
The female did not have enough confidence to seat parallel to Grey. Even if she sat there, would that be alright? Would that make her look entitled? Would that make her look like she had the right to sit there?
