Scarlet pushed the others out of her way, running up to Lucas. "Y-You're alive?! I thought you died!"
Lucas seemed uneasy, stepping back. "S-Scarlet, hold on a minute!"
"You two know each other?!" Miracle shouted. "From where?!"
"M-Miracle, do you happen to remember how I told you that I lost someone important to me?" Scarlet reminded her. "It… it was Lucas."
Lucas seemed to be rather nervous, stepping away from the group. "I thought he said I wouldn't be able to see them again…." He mumbled.
"What do you mean by that?" Scarlet asked, her slight stutter disappearing. She clearly didn't like her small showing of weakness. Lucas went silent, not wanting to explain. "Lucas? Why can't you tell me?"
"The reason why is because it's a secret!" A voice declared from above. They looked up, spotting a very familiar face as he crash landed in front of Lucas. There was immediate silence, before Fabian popped back up, an angry sigh coming from him. "God fucking damn it. I hate the ground." He muttered furiously. "Anyways! Hello there! Nice to see you again…."
Scarlet growled, taking out her knife. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
Fabian raised an eyebrow. "Hm? Why not? Ms. Godslayer over here is trying to kill me, so I need to make sure of what she's doing." He glanced at Miracle, giving her a sly smile. It sent a chill down her spine, before she remembered what role she had. She quickly unsheathed the sword, swinging it in an arc towards Fabian. He merely stepped backwards, dodging it easily. Fabian cackled, looking at her with a confused smile. "What was that?! Are you seriously the Godslayer, or is that just a lie? I can't believe you swing so slowly!"
Miracle was a little disheartened at the comment, but refused to show it. "S-Shut up!"
Scarlet pushed Fabian over, getting in front of Lucas. "Step the fuck away from us. Or I'll kill you."
"Literally impossible, but whatever." Fabian sighed, getting up off of the floor. "Seriously, pushing me over? That's rude." He dusted himself off, shrugging. "Well, whatever! Anyways, miss, could you move out of the way?" He pointed to Scarlet. "Gotta talk to him for a bit."
Scarlet gave him a glare. "About what?"
"Nothing that concerns you so get the fuck out of my way, you ragity ass bitch." Fabian hissed. He was beyond pissed, at this point. It made the group feel a little uneasy, seeming to shake up Harper the most for whatever reason.
Lucas glanced at Scarlet for a moment, before he shook his head with a sigh. "Fabian, calm down."
Fabian blinked, before he sighed. "Fine. Just, we've gotta go. This isn't going to work out."
Scarlet glanced at Fabian, then back to Lucas. "What do you… Lucas, you know him?"
Fabian's eyes widened. "Wait, you know Lucas?" Lucas walked over to him, explaining something in a hushed whisper. "Oh shit!" He admitted, looking at Scarlet. "I, uh, um… great, you've made this ten times more awkward for me now, Lucas!"
"Sorry." Lucas said.
Fabian shook his head, when Miracle leapt forwards for another attack. Fabian wasn't as prepared for this one, letting out a small squeak as he dodged the blow. "Oh for the love of all that's holy, would you leave me ALONE?!" He yelled. He grabbed Lucas's hand. "We're going. See you later." He turned away. "Bitch…." He muttered under his breath.
"Fabian." Lucas said simply.
"Whatever, whatever." Fabian said gloomily. "Listen, I'm in a piss pour mood and feel like fucking blowing up all of you right here and now." He hissed. "So, you try anything, I'll blow your brains out." No one made a move, before Fabian turned around and looked at Scarlet. "Oh, and you. Lucas is an angel. He didn't get wings because he got sick." Without any further explanation, Fabian flew away with Lucas, leaving the group in stunned silence.
Miracle looked towards Scarlet, who's eyes were wide. "Scarlet…?" She asked, a little nervous.
Scarlet blinked, covered her mouth with her hand. Before anyone could do anything, she started crying. "Scarlet!" Pedro called out, running up to her. Miracle ran over as well, as Scarlet dropped to the floor, sobbing.
"Why?!" She shouted, coughing through her tears. "Why'd it have to be him?! Why Lucas?! Why why why why why?!" Scarlet slammed her fists into the ground of frustration, as Pedro and Miracle tried to calm her down.
"S-Scarlet, calm down!" Miracle asked her. "Listen, we don't understand what's happening! S-Slow down, and explain, please!"
"Shut up!" Scarlet shrieked, slapping Miracle's hand away from her. She quickly stood up, covering her face. "Leave me alone!" As she said that, she spun around and ran away from the group.
Pedro stood up, looking as if he was going to run after her. Miracle quickly grabbed Pedro's wrist, shaking her head. There was silence again, as Scarlet's sobs slowly started fading.
"Tch!" Victoria crossed her arms, kicking a small rock. "I knew something was off about him when we saw him. Angels always have that weird aura…."
"That was why you two were so hostile…?" Miracle asked softly.
Bartholomew nodded. "Mhm. He was probably planning something. Considering how God came down and said 'this isn't going to work out', there must have been a plan or something." He sighed, looking towards Miracle. "What do we do now? We can't leave, since Scarlet appears to be… sad…."
Miracle hesitated, nodding her head. "Y-Yeah, she is. I'll… I'll try to talk to her."
"Are you sure…?" Pedro asked. "I could go talk to her."
Miracle shook her head. "No, I've known her the longest. I'll go…." The group looked at her solemnly, seeming to agree with her. Miracle sighed, turning towards the direction Scarlet had run off to. She walked around, trying to hear her friend's sobs, but she never heard a sound. "Scarlet?!" She shouted out, hoping Scarlet would respond.
She did not receive the answer she was hoping for.
Miracle winced, running through the trees. "Scarlet?! Please, come out! I'm worried about you…." Silence, again. Miracle sighed, trying to figure out where her friend had gone. She went silent herself, carefully listening to the sounds around her. C'mon, Scarlet… please let me talk to you…. She thought wistfully.
Then she heard it. A faint sob, most likely belonging to Scarlet. Miracle turned in the direction, running through the bushes to find a small clearing. Scarlet was sitting underneath a rather large tree, still crying. Miracle hesitated, carefully making her way over to her friend. "Scarlet…?"
Scarlet immediately went silent, after realizing she wasn't alone. "What." She said flatly. Miracle shivered, cautiously sitting down by the tree as well.
"Are you okay…?"
Scarlet sniffed, wiping her face. "I'm fine."
"Clearly you're not." Miracle pointed out. "You wouldn't be crying if you were…."
"Shut." Scarlet hissed. "I don't want to talk about it."
Miracle sighed, looking away from her friends. "Scarlet, if you just talk about it a little, I promise you'll feel a lot better." Scarlet went silent, opting to not feel better. Miracle rested her forehead on her arms, sighing again. "Scarlet… please… I'm here to help you. As your friend."
Scarlet seemed to think for a moment. "Lucas was my friend. Now he's my enemy." She said simply.
Miracle nodded. "I'm sorry about that… there must be a reason as to what happened. It isn't his fault. Blame Fabian. He probably did something."
Scarlet shook her head. "No, it's not like that." She mumbled. "He's not the type of person to get tricked all that easily. Sure, he's an idiot, but he's able to determine whether people should be trusted or not…."
Miracle went silent, not sure how to counteract that statement. "Well, then something bad must have happened. He was your best friend, right? We should try to save him, from whatever happened!" Miracle gave a soft smile, but Scarlet wasn't looking at her. "But, we can't do that without you, Scarlet! You'll be able to reach out to him, and we can defeat Fabian!"
Scarlet turned to look at Miracle, blinking in a confused manor. "Are you serious…?"
Miracle nodded. "Mhm! I promise!"
"You're so naive… and cliche at that…." Scarlet muttered, averting her gaze to the ground. She seemed to start thinking for a moment, before she wiped her face and sniffed a little. "Fine… whatever…."
Miracle smiled, standing up. "Great! Now, c'mon, Scarlet! We've gotta go catch up with the group again!" She stuck her hand out for Scarlet to grab, slightly reminiscent to a moment in the past. Scarlet stared at Miracle's hand, before she smiled softly, and laughed.
"You're such an idiot…." She said simply, taking Miracle's hand, who pulled her up. "Well, I guess I do feel better."
Miracle smiled. "Well, I had to keep my best friend from feeling so depressed! I've just gotten naturally good at talking to people, and getting them to confess a couple of their feelings…."
Scarlet shrugged, taking her hand back from Miracle. "Well, what now? What's the plan? We're just going to go and act like nothing happened?"
Miracle shook her head. "N-No, I don't think so. We should keep it in mind, but we should focus on finding this Asa person first. We'll figure out the other details later, and figure out a way to save Lucas from his fate!" She said brightly, encouraging Scarlet to join in her enthusiasm.
Scarlet smiled. "Okay, sure. We'll figure it out." They stood there for a moment, before Scarlet finally spoke up. "So… are we going to go, or just stand here awkwardly?" She asked.
Miracle blushed, feeling embarrassed. "S-Sorry! Let's go! They're waiting for us!" Miracle took Scarlet's hand, turning around and dragging her out of the clearing. They traveled back to the group in silence, as Scarlet clearly had things on her mind. Miracle could only guess what she was thinking about, but she was pretty sure it had something to do with Lucas. Maybe she's remembering about the time she spent with him? Or reasons as to why Lucas is on God's side? She shook her head. No, there isn't any reason for me to remember this right now… let's just focus on getting back.
"Hey! We're back!" Miracle called out.
"Scarlet! Miracle!" Pedro walked up to them. "Is she okay?"
"I'm fine, Pedro." Scarlet told him. "You don't have to act like I'm not here.
Pedro laughed softly. "Sorry, I wasn't sure if Miracle dragged you over here."
Miracle frowned. "Is that really what you thought I would do?"
"Pretty much." Pedro shrugged. "Sometimes you don't realize how forceful you're being." Miracle went silent, not sure how to respond.
"Anyways," Harper cut in. "We should get moving. For whatever reason, I feel like we're running out of time…."
Miracle thought about it, and realized she had the exact same feeling as Harper. She slowly nodded her head, feeling a little nervous. "R-Right. Let's go, guys!" She walked forwards, going past the rest of the ground.
"Miracle, we're going that way." Harper said, pointing to the left.
Miracle laughed awkwardly. "O-Oh. Oops! Sorry, I'm just used to leading."
"It's quite alright." Harper smiled. "Anyways, follow me. We're not that much farther away from Asa. We'll be getting to her soon." AS she said that, she began walking away, dodging around the trees. The rest of the group followed after her, anticipation for the future filling them.
