Explanations

"What the FUCK Lucas?!" Fabian shouted, dropping him onto the clouds. "You didn't tell me about that!"

"I'm sorry, okay?!" Lucas yelled back. "I thought it would have been implied, that I was friends with Scarlet! I brought you to her first!"

Fabian groaned, covering his face up with his hands. "Oh my God, I'm such a fucking idiot." He rubbed his eyes, turning around and falling onto his back. "I should have paid more attention…."

Lucas sat down next to him. "N-No, hold on, everyone makes mistakes! Don't feel so bad about it!"

"Lucas, do you not understand the situation I'm in?" Fabian asked, removing his hands from his face. "Making mistakes now could end up with the world ending." Lucas went silent, staring at him in shock. Fabian sat up with a sigh. 'What, did you not realize that?" He asked. "If Hydema has gone off the rails, she definitely has enough power to destroy everything. The only thing currently in her way would be us."

"Really…?"

"Yes, really." Fabian lifted his hand, biting on his thumbnail. "The thing is, people that die go to Hell. If Hydema wants to, she could bring them back to be on her side. Which would definitely be a net loss for us." He turned towards Lucas. "Not to mention, she's teamed up with the Godslayer. The person who can literally kill me. If she can kill me, well…." Fabian smiled, letting out a single laugh. "Bye bye."

There was silence between the two, as they thought about what to say next. "You too are back?" They glanced up, seeing Matias standing above them.

"Oh. Hey, Matias." Fabian muttered. "Sorry, we just got a lot of unfortunate news. Lucas's used-to-be best friend is on the Godslayer's side."

Matias winced, sitting down next to the other two. "T-That's… rough."

"Yeah, it really is." Fabian admitted. "But anyways, now we're going to have to figure something else out. What do we do, to get Hydema alone?"

"Why do we even want her alone?" Matias asked.

Fabian went silent. I can't tell them the exact truth. It could ruin up this plan a bit. He thought to himself. "Well, first off, I'm wanting to know why the hell she's suddenly attacking places. Second, we could bait the Godslayer into coming up here. After all, us three are much more powerful up here than down on the ground." He waited a moment, trying to see if they'd call him out on his small lie.

"That is true…." Matias nodded his head. Fabian smiled. He didn't catch it. Great. "Do we happen to know where they're heading at the moment?"

"I heard they were looking for someone called 'Asa'?" Lucas announced.

"Oh!" Fabian grinned. "Asa! Right, the fairy! Shoot, they're really creating a super team to assassinate me, aren't they?" He huffed, crossing his arms. "No fair! I'm hated by everyone, so I can't even form a team to go against them!"

"Well, what about Layla?" Matias pointed out. "She seems to like you. She could help us, maybe? I don't know what she's capable of, but you could make her an angel, can't you?"

Fabian went quiet, thinking for a moment. "Hm, I guess that's true! She definitely could help! But I'd rather not make her into an angel, if possible."

"Why?" Lucas asked. "You're friends, aren't you? Plus, we would need all the help we could get, right?"

Fabian shook his head. "I'm not doing it, no! That's just something I don't want to do! Layla wouldn't either, I would know!"

Matias stared at him suspiciously, but decided to drop the topic anyways. "Okay, then. Then what else should we do? It's not like us three can go against them all."

Fabian smiled."Well, actually, that's where you're wrong!"

"Huh?" Lucas turned to look Fabian in the eyes. "What do you mean?"

"Well, the thing is, that sword the Godslayer has can only murder me." Fabian explained. "I mean, I do happen to know some of the people who helped make it. It has a lot of different abilities, and such."

"Things like extra speed, strength, and others." Matias added.

Fabian paused. "Matias… you know about the sword too?"

Matias flinched a little. "A-Ah, what? Um, yes, I do."

"Where? How?" Fabian leaned a little closer to Matias, a threatening expression on his face. "How do you know about this?" Matias went silent, clearly uncomfortable, but Fabian didn't back down. He wanted an answer, even if it was a lie.

"W-Well, I mean…." Matias turned away, avoiding eye contact. "I-I, um…."

"Matias. Answers. NOW." Fabian hissed. "I don't know if you realize just how serious this information might be. This is a matter of life or death for me." He let his expression soften for a moment. "Can't you just tell me? Please…?"

Matias hesitated, staring Fabian directly in the eyes. He twiddled his thumbs, before finally nodding his head. "O-Okay. I… may know the Godslayer. Personally."

Fabian sighed, sitting back. "Finally! Was that so hard?" He smiled, patting Matias on the head. "That feels better, right? I bet you've known for a while. Must've been hard to keep that to yourself."

"You're not mad at me?" Matias asked.

Fabian blinked. "No? I mean, I bet a lot of people know who she is. I just wanted to make sure you weren't a double agent or something."

"I would never!" Matias shouted. Fabian went quiet, a little surprised at that reaction. Matias caught himself, blushing from embarrassment and looking away. "I-I mean, y'know I made that promise… I don't want you getting killed…."

"Aw, Maimai loves~ me!" Fabian teased, poking Matias's in the cheek.

"Stop, please…." Matias muttered. "You're just proving Layla's point even more now…."

"Hm, now what's the issue with that?" Fabian smiled. "What if I wanted that to be true?"

"What…?"

"Y'know, not to ruin the moment, but I'm feeling very left out right now." Lucas admitted, from the sidelines. "Kinda seems like I'm third wheeling, to be honest."

"O-Oh. Oops." Fabian laughed awkwardly. "Anyways~, back to planning! How do we go about this? What do we do, so I can talk to Hydema?"

"Talk to her…?" Lucas suggested.

Fabian sighed. "I'm sorry, Lucas, but I've gotta reiterate that you're an idiot."

Lucas shook his head. "I'm not even going to deny it this time." Matias snorted, covering his mouth to make sure no other sounds came out of his mouth.

"The reason I can't just walk up and say, 'hey Hydema, why the fuck are you causing the entire Earth to implode on itself' is because one, she may just shoot me. Two, the Godslayer is going to stab me, and three, everyone single other person there hates me and will definitely try to murder my ass." Fabian explained. "So simply talking to Hydema is out of the question."

"Hm…." Matias hummed in deep thought. "So then, we have to get her separated from that group?"

"That would be our best option, yes." Fabian nodded his head. "Either that, or wait for her to isolate herself. That's the best we can do."

"Well, if she isolates herself, then what do we do after that?"

"Probably bring her up here." Fabian tapped his cheek. "She'd be weaker than us, if we do that. Plus, it'll be much harder for the Godslayer to come after us."

"Let's go through a couple other situations." Matias suggested. "Let's say, there's like, only two or three people around including her. What then?"

"Then I'd just go down and get her." Fabian replied. "I can't explain the entire reason why, but she can't fight me. Plus, I can get in and out of there really fast."

"Okay!" Lucas cut in. "So then, what if it's just her by herself?"

"I'd probably go down in that situation as well." Fabian replied. "In almost any situation, I would always go first. However, if she's never by herself, and is always with the entire group, then all three of us can go attack her."

"Why me, though?" Lucas asked. "I mean, I can't fly or anything."

"Well, you're physically stronger than me." Fabian explained. "So I won't have to use as much of my own strength to focus on keeping Hydema restrained. I can focus more on escaping, as well as making sure none of us get hurt. Matias would use his power to keep them from seeing us clearly."

"You're wanting me to make a fog?" Matias turned to face the other two. "I think I can pull that off. How large would it have to be?"

"Hm, not too large, I think. I don't know how big their group will be right now, so we can't prepare all too easily." Fabian sighed. "I can ask Layla later about helping us. She's capable of doing a lot."

Lucas crossed his arms. "Is there anyone else we could ask?"

Fabian shook his head. "I don't think so. I've made too bad of an image for myself by now. More people support Hydema rather than me, so they probably wouldn't help us. If I was to tell them the situation, they'd either think I'm senile, or just say that I'm lying. Which ties back to being senile." He let out a groan, rubbing at his eyes again. "C'mon, I'm barely twenty years old, this is so hard!" He complained.

Matias frowned, scooting over next to his friend and giving him a hug. "Come on, things like this never got in your way. You've always been a good planner."

"Matias, that was when I was only living for myself." Fabian replied hastily. "Trying to make sure everyone in the world doesn't die is a lot harder."

Lucas scooted over as well, joining the group hug. "C'mon, we believed in you! If you can't believe in your own words, then you can just depend on us a little bit more."

"We'd pretty much do anything, I'm sure." Matias continued. "Since, well, we did say yes to your questions."

Fabian blinked, before he started laughing. Matias let go of Fabian, as did Lucas, seeming slightly surprised by his outburst. "You guys are insane!" He kept laughing, before wiping his eyes of any tears. "I guess that's why you're my friends!" Fabian stood up, pulling the other two up to a standing position as well. "Alrighty then! We know they're heading towards The Glade to find Asa, so we're going to have to wait!"

"How come?" Matias tilted his head to the side.

"I don't think Asa likes me that much, so if I entered she'd try to stab me." Fabian shrugged. "So I'd rather just wait. She does her best in that place. Something similar to how Heaven and Hell work for demons and angels."

Lucas nodded. "That makes sense! I guess…."

Matias smiled. "So, what do we do to pass the time?"

Fabian chuckled. "Well! I have an idea! Do you all wanna play a game?"
