Targets 2 & 3 pt.3

Adelaide

---

I shot him a glare and brushed past him, getting hit by another wave of his scent.

The realization hit me like a ton of bricks.

Lavender, he smelt like lavender.

---

I abruptly stopped and turned around, leaning into him to take a large whiff of his scent again to test my theory.

He really did smell like lavender.

I felt a small tug at the back of my head before the mask that was hiding my face fell from my face.

I looked up at Silver to see the mask in his hands and a smile on his face.

"Give that back." I snapped, sending my hand flying up to snatch the mask back but in response, he put it above his head.

Goddamn tall people.

"I'm afraid that's not possible, shorty."

I narrowed my eyes at his name-calling.

"I'm not short," I replied putting my hand on his shoulder to pull my body up, trying to grasp the mask.

He chuckled and I snapped out of my brief loss of professionalism.

"You're shorter than me, that's all that counts."

I huffed, making him know how peeved I was at his answer.

Maybe I could use this to my advantage.

"Well, now it's only fair if you take yours off," I stated, starting to walk up the stairs.

I kept my head forward and didn't glance to see if he was following me. I already knew he was from his heavy footfalls.

When I reached the top of the staircase, I whipped around and attempted to untie his mask.

His hand wrapped around my wrist before it met its target.

"Nice try, sunshine."

I huffed and snatched my hand back.

"Hey, don't blame me you brought this on yourself when you started to sniff me." He joked, making my cheeks burn bright red.

"It's not my fault you smell good." I immediately regretted the words but that didn't stop me from turning around and pointing my finger at him.

He started to laugh in response and was about to reply but the sound of distant shouts cut me off.

"Hey! There are still people here!"

We both looked at each other before communicating without speaking as we started to race up the stairs.

There was no need to be silent anymore, they had already found our location.

I was careless.

I pushed open the top door, leading us both to the roof.

I sprinted to the edge of the top and looked down to assess the situation we had gotten ourselves into.

Police cars blocked the streets below and security guards were making their way up the stairs towards us. We had four different weapons and were completely stuck.

I started to laugh.

It was the kind of laughter that resonated from your stomach, leaving you feeling bubbly and warm.

Silver looked at me with an odd expression on his face and a small smile.

"So what now sunshine?"

When my laughter had died down I looked around and saw that there was only one entrance to the roof.

My smile got wider.

"We wait."

His smile mirrored mine as if he knew exactly what I meant by my cryptic sentence.

I started to make my way to the entrance and hid around the side waiting for the guards to come up. Silver made his way next to me, giving me no space and standing as close as he could without actually touching me.

The wind whistled as I waited for the door to swing open.

I could feel Silver's gaze on my profile but I ignored him. He had already distracted me enough, I needed to get this right.

I adjusted the two knives in my hands and readied my stance.

I was prepared when the door opened and three security guards busted through. It only took me 2 seconds to get the first one down on the ground, unconscious.

Before they even knew what was happening I whirled around and used the butt of my two knives to take the other two down.

I twirled the two knives on my fingers and I heard a low whistle behind me.

"Remind me to never get on your bad side, sunshine."

I chuckled and bent over to pick up a walkie talkie and handed it to Silver.

He cleared his throat and told the receiver that the roof was all clear.

I walked over to the other side of the roof and peered into the darkness to see if I could locate a familiar Tesla.

Where was Jaekyung?

The only car that I saw was a sleek bright red Volkswagen Convertable.

Could that be Romano?

I glanced at Silver then back to the car.

There was only one way to find out and at this point, what did I have to lose?

I quickly calculated if I could make the jump to the neighbouring building and decided that I could make it.

"Silver, can you jump that?"

He stood dangerously close to the edge of the building before abruptly turning around and walking a few paces back.

He started to break into a sprint and effortlessly jumped from the ledge.

My heart jumped into my throat and the world seemed to slow as I saw him sail towards the building.

I let out a breath of relief when I saw him land.

I took my heels off, holding them in my hands as I emulated his strategy, backing up a few paces and leaping into the air.

I felt the wind tug at my dress, feeling completely weightless.

Adrenaline was still pumping through my veins as my feet hit the concrete floor and small stones cut through the skin.

I started breathlessly laughing, completely relieved that I hadn't fallen to my death.

"Ready to do that again, Silver?"

"You bet, sunshine."

We jumped two more buildings until we found an unlocked door leading to a hotel. The only problem was the fact that I had a massive sniper gun wrapped around my back.

Silver didn't hesitate in taking off his jacket and dropping it over my shoulders. It was so big that it efficiently hid the gun hanging off my shoulders.

I smiled up at him, doing up the button so that it would hide the strap that went across my chest and slid my knives in my dress.

"Thank you."

"Anything for you, sunshine."

"So, what's your next genius plan?"

I grinned at his question, I knew exactly what to do.

I whispered my plan in his ear and watched as his mouth changed from a surprised 'o' to a sly grin.

He tentatively wrapped his arm around my waist and we walked straight into the hotel.

When we walked out of the stairwell, he pulled my body closer to his starting to laugh, putting on a show for all those watching.

"Omg baby, you look so hot." He slurred making me force a giggle and playfully hit his shoulder.

I put my finger to my mouth and shushed him up before whispering in his ear.

"You're a bad actor."

The sound of his hand slapping my butt rang through the air and I squealed in response.

He leaned down and whispered in my ear in a low voice.

"Bad girl."

I looked up into his eyes and for the first time the entire night, I noticed how piercingly blue they were.

We were broken from our passionate stare off by a small voice.

"Ma'am, sir, you're distracting our guests either lower your voices or leave."

Without missing a beat, Silver responded, "I think we'll be leaving unless you want to watch?"

The poor girl's face turned tomato red as he shot a wink in her direction and she shook her head so fast I was surprised she didn't get whiplash.

I chuckled and pulled him through the entrance.

We rounded the corner and was successfully pulled under the cover of darkness. Silver started to laugh and I closely followed.

"D-did you see her f-face?" He asked through breathless laughs.

"Yeah, it was as red as a tomato."

When we both had calmed down, I pulled him towards the direction where I had seen the car.

"I think it's the car but I'm not sure," I stated, pointing to the bright red car.

He nodded and gestured for me to go.

"I'll be waiting."

I left to make sure that it was the car, under the impression that if it was, I would go back and retrieve Silver so that we could both make our getaway.

I knocked on the tinted window and breathed a sigh of relief when Romano's face appeared.

"Get in."

I nodded and looked over to the alleyway to gesture that it was indeed the getaway car but my arm froze in mid-air.

He wasn't there.

Romano's voice called at me to get in again, breaking me out of my trance and I hurriedly opened the door, squeezing in next to Jamie.

Throughout the entire drive to Mano's house, he bombarded Malcolm with questions about his downfall but I couldn't listen in.

I was too distracted, the image of a pair of piercing blue eyes and a silver mask embedded in my mind.

I looked down and realized something a little too late.

I still had his jacket.
