She entered the shore and placed the jug down and began to strip. His eyes watched her like a prey as they moved up and down her body. Smiling coyly, she untied the bow behind her neck and slowly pull it down to reveal her chest. She could smell his arousal and she couldn't help licking her lips.
Pulling the fabric down as she bent over, she stripped out of the clothing. She walked over with the sway of her hips, as she brought the jug with her. Placing it on the ground a few inches away from him, she proceeded to get in his space. Kissing him as she kneed between his legs, his moan sounded against her lips. One hand braced the ground as the other ran up his abs, up his chest, to his neck. The shiver from her cold hands on his warm body delighted her.
Pushing more against his chest, he pulled away with a wince.
"Are you hurt?" She asked pulling back to sit on her feet.
"Just sore," he rolled his shoulders and she laughed.
"Well, you had been very insistent on making love multiple times in a day," she lifted a brow, as if to ask him to challenge her statement.
He let out a sigh and ran his fingers through his curly blond locks, "Well, that part of the body is not sore, but everywhere else is."
"I see," Eve grinned with a roll of her eyes, "Have you eaten?"
"Was waiting for you. Where'd you go?" He questioned pecking her cheek.
"I wanted to check on something," she mentioned, as she rubbed the water drops on her skin to dry quicker near the flames.
"Like what?" Adam found himself frowning when Eve turned and began peeling the yam's skin.
It was quiet and he nibbled her exposed shoulder with an upset face. Eyes staring at the flames, he wondered if there was something that Eve prepared without telling him. She broke the yam in half and handed the exposed softened yam to him. Removing his teeth, he blew on it to cool it down.
Eating it slowly, he watched her, taking in the tightness around her eyes and the darkness under them.
'Did she not sleep well?'
Frowning, he ran his hands through her hair and tuck it behind her ear. Eve smiled at him and kissed his wrist, before interlocking their fingers. They finished their meal quietly to the sound of crackling fire against the woods.
"There is war Adam," she spoke softly once she was finished, leaning over for the jug.
"Between demons and angels," Adam stated and received a nod, "So it had already started."
Eve drank from the gallon and handed it to him. He took a few gulps before placing it back on the ground.
"Many have already died," she frowned, "I know where they are headed."
"Where?" Adam pushed the gallon away and pulled her into his arms, so her side was leaned against his chest.
"To my cathedral," she stated and sighed.
Adam thought about why both parties would go there. Then he remembered what Gabriel had told him.
"It's where your power is strongest."
"Yes," she leaned away to look into his blue eyes, "It is also where I am easily killed."
She watched as his eyes widened and the hold around her tightened. His mouth opened and closed, as he searched her eyes.
"I don't understand," he finally said unsure what the reason was.
She held his face and kissed him gently, softly.
"It is where I was born," she whispered and pulled back.
Adam nodded, still confused with the reason. She looked so… sad.
"It was where we first met many centuries ago," Eve continued as her hands ran down his face to land on his shoulders, "It is where we met again The second time we met, you were older and had pledge yourself to me. You were… ambitious," Eve laughed, "You wanted to build temples and churches for me all over the world."
Adam found himself smiling.
"And you had just completed setting up a small chapel to the west. You returned to tell me, but…" she looked away, "Many of my worshipers despised you. They thought you were corrupting me, like their ancestors had mentioned the first time we met."
"They brought you to the apple tree in the middle of the night and… hung you," her throat tightened, "When I knew… I killed them all. I destroyed the tree and abandoned the chapel."
She felt his fingers massaging her scalp with both hands, as she closed her eyes.
"I did not expect your father to send one of his disciples to establish it for Him," she went on, "I did not know at the time, I was so young, so angry. That place Adam," she opened her eyes and held his wrists, "That place had the highest form of magic on Earth; a place where any level of demons and angels may come and go with ease. Such high potent energy that I was able to be created through birth."
"I still don't-" Adam furrowed his brows and Eve tightened her hold.
"Since I was born, that power, magic, energy, whatever you wish to call it… it is within me Adam," she explained, "If I were killed there, then the energy will be gone. No more easy access, no more walking devil with the power to destroy, no more threat to their control…" she looked at him pleadingly, "Do you understand now?"
Adam pulled his arms away from her and quickly wrapped it around her. Chest pressed against chest, he pressed her face against the side of his neck.
"If… is that what you want?"
"What I want," she pulled back and pressed their foreheads together, "Is to be with you for all of time."
She felt his body tense against her before he forced it to relax and she found her eyes closing. The warmth of the fire did not warm the coldness in her heart. Hands on his back, she whispered too soft for his ears. A small thin line stretched across his back, like a spiderweb tattooed in gold. She moved her hands up and down his back, letting it blend back against his skin as she kissed the curve of his neck.
