The fire that flicked and danced had watched the two lovers talk, love, eat, laugh, and cry. It kept them warm in this cavern between Hell and the surface world. A secret place that only two others had found, had stayed just as long, if not longer, than these lovers.
However, there was a change in the atmosphere, between the two.
The touches seemed to be more longing, more rushed, more… sad. Their eyes seemed to also express those feelings. The soft whispers, light caresses, and the push and pull of energy pumped through the cave as the other slept.
The fire had seen many things and it was sure it would find another pair soon. Maybe another hundred centuries, there will be brothers, sisters, or even lovers who looked for its warmth. Until then, it must say goodbye as the woman stood before it.
"I thank you for caring for us, little fire," the pretty woman smiled, "It is time for us to go."
Fire curled and twisted, as if she would understand its words of farewell. Her hand stretched and it touched the fingers delicately before it slowly bled away to sleep once more. Until another wished to wake it, and it will watch and care for that living being like it had for many before the lovers, before the brothers.
The smoke filled the space where the fire once burned.
Eve stood for a moment watching the remains of burnt logs, as her thoughts prepared her for the fight that was coming. Angels and demons at war to kill her, to kill one another, to die for nothing. She could feel them near the cathedral; the place she was birthed, the place she met Adam. Letting out a breath, she closed her eyes and crossed her arms.
She could hear his footstep near her before strong arms wrapped around her shoulders. A kiss pressed against the top of her head, she let out a smile.
"It is time Adam," she said softly and the hold around her tightened.
"Can we just hideaway forever?" He offered and she turned around in his arms to face him.
"No matter where we go, you know He will find us," she sighed and let out a short laugh, "Have he not visited you?"
Adam felt the blood in his face drop, "What?"
"He is known to visit in dreams, you know this," Eve pecked his lips and pulled away from him, "I am just surprised he didn't visit you to find out where we are," the female continued as she dressed, "You would tell me, won't you?"
Sweaty and cold was what he felt. Swallowing hard he blinked at her and offered a smile, he hoped it was appeasing enough. He watched Eve smiled and turned around as she finished tying her dress. He went to his own attire and threw them on with his mind jumbling, as his inner conflict continued to fight. Tell her? She would be angry. Don't tell her? She would still be angry!
Before he could think of anything else, he felt her hand in his.
"Let us go," she said softly, and the cave darkened.

Gabriel sat silently on the bench with his eyes closed. He could not hear the commotion raging outside of his cell, but he could only imagine what the look would be. His father with his few angels, the ones who could show and tell him the future of this war. Metatron, God's trusted scribe, would be showing Him what is happening below them. Were the angels surviving against the attack of demons? Were humans and animals even able to survive during this war? How many have perished already?
The pulse on his hand twitched and Gabriel looked at it. The gold glow brightened and pushed against his skin, as if to escape from the entrapment. Something is wrong. He stood up and walked to the door, looking around to see if anyone is there. Looking at his hand once more, he frowned.
'Eve, what have you done?'

Azrael thought it would be much harder when they were nearing the cathedral of the demon, the place he died once in, but it was not. The energy was gone, and he wondered if it was a trap from the notorious demon. Such a cunning and devilish woman, one who made him feel pity, would find no reason to not mess with them all. Yet, what choice did they have?
Samael, the one who brought his kind to the surface, had killed many of mankind and its creatures. He must pay for that. With only a few angels left by his side, though wounded, they were all ready to fight for their Father as he would. Looking at them and nodding, they rushed forward.

Adam watched Eve moved her hands and the standing cathedral was left into dust before nothing stood. He blinked at the change and walked toward her.
"Eve, are you alright?" He questioned seeing her sway for a moment.
"Adam?" She turned to him and breathed out a smile, "Are you ready to face them?"
"Yes," he nodded and she touched his face, softly and slowly.
Kissing her palm, he leaned forward to kiss her lips. A kiss that made his heart swell and bloomed like the budding of a rose. As he pulled away slowly, he felt her fade away. Eyes widened, he looked at her to see a sad smile on her face.
"Wait for me," she whispered and was gone.
Adam stood there, alone, in the middle of war as all sides slowly surrounded him.
He was alone.
'Why?'
