An Ice Cream Occasion

Dear Imena,

My advisor, the ghost of a boy named Skipper, found me lying on the floor after he heard me screaming and called Adam. By the time Adam got to me, I had stopped screaming and was lying quietly on the floor. He tried to get me to stand up but I wasn't interested, so he took my arms and pulled me up into a sitting position then picked me up and carried me to the throne room.

"Did you let Andrew out?" Adam asked.

"No." I said.

"Spirit, you had to have let him out, that's the only way he could have gotten out. Please just tell me, I won't be upset. I just want to know why."

"I didn't let him out, I talked to him for a minute then he disappeared."

Adams expression changed then, he looked worried.

"What did you talk about?"

"I just asked him a few questions..."

"About?"

I couldn't look at Adam, and I stared to cry again. Adam awkwardly hugged me in and patted my back in an attempt to comfort me.

"What did he say, Spirit?"

I collected myself a bit before I spoke, "When we locked him up he said someone I know was up to something, and it wasn't him. I thought he was just messing around, but he was right."

"About what?"

I took a deep breath, "Lennon cheated on me, and has been for a while. Andrew saw them when he attacked at the track meet and spied on them a bit and he let us arrest him so he could tell me."

Adam shook his head, "Spirit he was just messing with you. He didn't really see anything. He was trying to get into your head and you let him. Besides, Lennon's a good guy, he wouldn't do anything like that to you."

"Yes he would. I went to see him and tell him we locked up Andrew and found him kissing another girl."

Adam's worried look got worse. "Well, maybe she kissed him and he was trying to push her off?"

"You forget I can read minds. There was no denying Lennon was guilty."

Adam sighed, "I know. I'm sorry, Spirit. I should have told you."

I looked up at Adam, "Told me what?"

"I went to talk to Andrew after you did the day we locked him up. He told me Lennon was cheating on you, but I didn't think it was true. I didn't want it to be, I knew it would crush you. I'm sorry Spirit."

I pushed Adam away, and walked away from him. I didn't really know if I was mad at him or not, but I needed to be alone to sort through the it, so I ran off to my room.

About an hour later I heard a knock on my door. When I opened the door, James was standing there holding a carton of ice cream and a couple spoons.

"Did Adam call you?" I asked as I walked back into my room, leaving the door open so he could follow me.

"Yeah. He told me what happened, hence the ice cream. How are you holding up?" he asked.

I sat down on my bed. "I don't know. I'm hurt, definitely, and I'm angry."

"At Adam?"

"I don't think so?"

James nodded and opened the ice cream carton.

"Well, I'm here for you, in case you need to cry more." he said while handing me a spoon.

"Thank you, Jamie."

"Of course, Rose."
