Aftermath

Dear Imena,

Adam and Milo made arrangements for Milo to go between Earth and the Vail without raising suspicion. I didn't really have much to do with it, I was busy worrying in my office.

Andrew's attack caused a lot of damage. No humans were physically injured, but they saw a lot of things they couldn't explain, and some of them were taking it harder than others. I had to get the memory of that day wiped from their brains, it was the only way they would be able to move on with their lives. But it would take Luna and Moira two months to get to everyone who saw the attack, and even though I was helping them, it didn't speed up the process at all.

I watched friends, classmates, and teachers as they slowly fell apart and stopped going to school. When I saw someone who I knew was really struggling, I would somehow leave the classroom, change into a spirit form, go up to them, and press two fingers to their temples and take away the memories. Instead of the attack, they would remember a security concern that worried the school so much they put everyone on busses and sent them home. It's not a happy memory, but it's one that's easy for them to understand and doesn't destroy them mentally.

After those two months passed, everyone had that same memory, and the human imagination took over and made up details that made it more real to them. Thank goodness the human brain works very hard to rationalize things.

Milo's mental state was monitored almost constantly to make sure he wasn't suffering the same way everyone else seemed to be, but as far as any specialist could tell, he was handling it all fairly well. I felt bad that Milo had been thrown into all of this involuntarily, but it made me feel better knowing he was handling it all well.

Milo was with me almost every second of every day. The Council decided to retrain all of the soldiers and make sure their skills were up to date. I fired the ghost General and his colleagues and the Council moved to a new system. We all observed at picked a general from the soldiers, in fact Milo helped me pick mine.

He's still my general today, actually. His name is Ty, and if Andrew should have been afraid of anyone, it was him.
